So the State-Run AP admitted that they were the President’s enemies? For once, they were telling the truth. If you apply the same logic (a foreign concept to TP, no doubt), then you could make the case that this current occupant of the Oval Orifice is the MSM’s best friend.

But, let me repeat the point I made in my previous comment–will the same journalists (e.g. Froomkin) who chastised W for his off-the-record shindig similarly chastise Obama?

And no, using “off-the-record” was not desperate, it was the entire point of the of the example. As to your assumption that a Bush event would be on the record, that’s just another example of your anti-Bush prejudice.

The media raised a “ruckus”? Was Froomkin’s article supposed to be proof of the alleged “ruckus”? Is this – “Nevertheless, I’m told that several reporters expressed squeamishness about last night’s event” – all it takes to get a good ruckus started? Man, I’ve been doing ruckuses all wrong all these years. Who knew several unattributed comments told to one reporter was a “ruckus”?

So, in other words, you were wrong about the latest ZOMG-Obama-is-TEH-WORST thing, completely, despite your desperate attempt to use “off-the-record” as your saving differentiator (like a Bush event would be on the record! LOL See what I did there?), and then claimed disparate treatment in the media handling of it, using one article with unattributed reports of the vapors to show this vast difference.

So eager to be in Obama’s presence are some of Shales’s media colleagues that they’ll neglect their duties (to cover the Administration) to attend an off-the-record Barbecue at the White House. Can you imagine the media reaction had Obama’s predecessor attempted to organize such a shindig?
