The relief you feel when the ticket is on someone else’s car
Because of the heat yesterday, I found it difficult to concentrate on much of anything, perhaps becuse I got struck in traffic on my way to meet a friend for lunch. And the heat drained me. I may blog about the lunch as it was with a good friend of mind who happened to be in Tehran before, during and after the Iranian election.
Anyway, later in the day, I spaced that I needed to run to Trader Joe’s to get some groceries, so I dashed out of my apartment at 8:44, hoping to make it to the store before it closed at 9. As I walked out onto my street, I saw a ticket on the windshield of my car, but as I approached, realized that that while the car bearing the citation was the same make and color as my own, it was a different model. Weird how something like that can lift your spirits–higher than they were before I saw the ticket.
Just the relief that the citation was on someone else’s car.
Well, I made it to Trader Joe’s on time and even was within one cent when I guessed the cost of my purchases (okay, okay, I only purchased 10 items).

Spend a Summer in Houston or a Summer weekend in Laredo and then get back to me about heat.

I get a warm feeling whenever I see a car with an Obama sticker pulled over by a “cop acting stupidly.”
I am sure the fact that I’ve seen more cops pulling over speeders in the last two months than in the previous two years has nada to do with our state’s budget condition.

#2 Yes, I feel the same way about speeders. Then again, I found that my car gets better milage at the speed limit than slightly over, so I choose to stay right around the speed limit.

#3: Buy a hybrid. I’ve had the same thing happen.
Amazing how your driving habits change when you have the instant-economy gauge.
