I have been a cop for 33 years. I felt the need to report that race relations within the law enforcement community are ions ahead of the rest of the country, simply because we rely on each other to survive. The same applies to gay officers. Although I’m pretty sure we’ve had gay officers all along we really didn’t have to confront the issue until a few years ago. One of our officers who had been married and had children openly came out and told us he was gay. I was gratified that we all handled it pretty well. It confirmed that police officers really don’t think in those terms. We care about each other and each other’s safety and all other things are unimportant. The Cambridge Police situation illustrated this point nicely as it related to black police officers and how they stepped up and defended a good cop and a good man. I wanted to let gay officers know that the same applies to you in case you might have doubts. There will always be bigots and ignorant people but most cops (I think I have earned the right to speak for most of us) won’t care so long as you do your job and don’t become the “office creep” who thinks he or she must define everything in sexual terms. Our gay officer handled it in the best way I think. He made jokes and didn’t hide it or have a chip on his shoulder. He is our gay and transgender liason now. He is also our friend and co-worker and we would put our lives on the line for him and we know it is reciprocal. Let this Cambridge incident be a lesson if there are doubts. Black female and male officers came to the defense of one of their brother officers because it was the right thing to do. The same will apply to you if you in doubt.

I don’t think they can defend themselves anymore. In buckeye’s last comment, he didn’t use his worn out long, long decade BS.

I’m getting the sense that they can no longer defend Chairman Obama or the real culture of corruption. So they just keep their mouths shut and stick with the mental masturbation or the KOSholes waiting for a glimmer of Chope.

I’ve got an idea, could President Obama apologize for the corrupt Democrat party? 43 our of the 44 people perp walked the other day in NJ were Democrats or Democrat office holders. Now today it comes out that two of the most powerful Democrat Senators LIED about getting sweatheart deals from Countrywide before the mortgage industry collapsed. Do you think the state run media will ask these people to step aside while these illegalities are prosecuted? Do you think someone in the media could “speak truth to power” and ask his Highness about his party members? Do you think this could become a “teachable moment” about one party rule and Democrat corruption? The whole party stinks like dead fish.

A little Bill Cosby tough love from the president could have been the hope ‘n’ change we need to put this country on course to a color blind society (or something close).

By setting an example, Obama could show millions of black kids that success and achievement are available to them with hard work and the right attitude.

The one real hope I had for Obama once it became clear that he was going to get elected was that he would realize that he had a historic opportunity to be truly “post racial”.
