Appoint Jeb Bush as Interim Florida Senator
In the wake of Mel Martinez’s decision to resign from the United States Senate, Governor Charlie Crist could do no better than to appoint his accomplished predecesor to fill the seat for the remainder of Martinez’s term.
This would give the articulate conservative a larger platform to address the issues of the day. And for fifteen months, the Sunshine State would be represented by a man who served it well for eight years.

A big second to that. Jeb Bush would be perfect!

That’s a great idea. He should appoint Jeb and run for reelection, then when the other senate seat is up (which is held by a democrat) he should run for that one.

Perhaps Jeb will even finish out the term!

From what I heard and read, the only reason Jeb Bush isn’t in the position right now is because he didn’t want it. Obviously, others would know more about it than I would, but I don’t see it happening. (Sod’s Law: it happens.)

New blood! I want new faces, give me the future.
I do not want to watch a political Brett Favre or John Smoltz.
Give us a Tim Tebow, find me a Heisman candidate!

That’s the first thing I thought too, but then I read somewhere that Crist is planning on running for that seat so I doubt he wants to appoint someone who’ll run against him, effectively.
Or do you think Bush will just serve and then step down?
It also makes me wonder if Martinez doesn’t like Crist, this move looks awfully machiavellian if he doesn’t like him.

Crist had already announced he is running for the seat. Usually an interm Senator has an edge…..how does Crist run against the person he recently appointed as “the best choice”. Damn they make this crap harder than it has to be.

Better yet, have Crist appoint Rush Limbaugh to the Senate seat, just to watch Stuart Smalley have a meltdown on the Senate floor!
Not to mention numerous other lower-case-libtrolls who comment first and think afterwards (hello, gillie).

On second thought to replace a latino with another, I suggest Manuel Estrada to remind the Democrats how they submarined his appointment to the DC Circuit Court and was W´s protoge as the first latino to be apponted to SCOTUS.
