If you just want to see how polticized and full of hate the leadership of gay organizations has become, take a gander at the 9/11 letter of Kate Kendell, Executive Director of the National Center of Lesbian Rights. Instead of remembering the victims of the terrorist attacks, instead of condemning the perpetrators (who hold women and gay people (you know those for whom a center for lesbian rights concern themselves) in particular scorn), she lashes out at the “far right”:
As I listened to President Obama’s health care address to Congress Wednesday night, it felt so good to be proud of our President again, yet the legacy he inherited is proving to be almost too much to overcome. The most toxic, racist, mean-spirited fringe of the far right have more power over our national discourse than ever in modern history. Rep. Joe Wilson’s unprecedented breach of civility in his “uncontrolled” outburst is just the tip of the iceberg. But if we fail to steer clear of this virulent political atmosphere, our agenda of human and civil rights for LGBT folks in this country will be the Titanic. If Obama’s plan for reforming health care runs aground, you may as well head for the lifeboats. (Okay, I’ll stop now with the ocean disaster metaphors.)
The same forces who are apoplectic at the idea (THE IDEA!) that health care would be provided to undocumented workers are the same forces who fight against any progress or reform in favor of rights and security for LGBT folks. A lack of humanity and compassion does not suddenly emerge with the appearance of a U.S. birth certificate. If you are queer in this country, these folks hate you every bit as much as they hate an undocumented laborer worried about how she will get medicine for her baby. Obama must win on health care reform—because as LGBT people, we need that reform as much as anyone, and because his entire national agenda of greater inclusion, security, and humanity for all of us hangs in the balance.
Emphasis added. WOW. Just wow. On 9/11, throwing a temper tantrum against the far right while ignoring Islamic extremism. (You know those people who want to destroy America and kill homosexuals.) I’m almost speechless at her politically correct intolerance.
This is how she chooses to remember 9/11 by dressing up Obamacare as gay rights and launching into a broadside against the right?!?!?
Note how she raises the “birther” issue and how she assumes that conservatives hate gay people and “undocumented workers (AKA Illegal Aliens). In accusing us of hate, she betrays her own hatred and intolerance. This woman has so politicized her identity that she can only see right wingers as toxic, racist and mean-spirited, oblivious that the diatribe she pens is a mean-spirited as the most vicious smears from the most extreme segments of the far right.
And racist? Oh, yeah, she’s just borrowing that from the talking points of the far left–which is where she seems to get her information–and her world view.
*NB I debated a bit on this adjective, having also pondering “mean-spirited” as well as “intolerant.”
Sadly, people like Kate are all too common these days. They live their lives with blinders on, only associating with people who live inside their ideological bubble. It’s incomprehensible to her how anyone could spend their days (even 9/11) thinking about anything BUT the (fantasized) shortcomings of the evil Right.
Kate is seeking what all liberal activists (lesbian or otherwise) are seeking: Toleration through intolerance. If we believe our immigration laws should be enforced, we are racists! If we think the Post Office being $7.2 billion in debt shows us that FedEx is more efficient we are evil capitalists! If we believe people have a right to belong to a church and practice their faith (without using it to attack others), we are hateful and toxic!
So what does that make Kate, when she represents the National Center of Lesbian Rights in this manner? I think it’s called “a detriment.”
The goals of Islamic extremism and of the far left loonies in our own country are the same: they all hate America. This is not new. In the 1930s the leftists fawned over Mussolini and Hitler too, practically to the end. We can only pray that when these idiots finally have their “Oh, shit!” moment it isn’t too late to save our country.
South Carolina has a long list of dignitaries that includes Lauren Caitlin Upton (Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant contestant), Board of Education Chair, Kristin Maguire, Governor (and avid Appalachian hiker), Mark Sanford and now Joe “the hater not a debater” Wilson or the “screamer not the dreamer” as others have dubbed him. I did enjoy him cut and running through his apology, which only goes to show that he stands for nothing. He is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.
I think it’s called “a detriment.”
I think it’s called “a disgraceful, despicable bitch.”
So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.
Along with those poor, stupid bastards that cheerlead for their beloved Chairman Obama?
I suppose she is right in the sense that the toxic, racist, mean-spirited policies of slavery, segregation and jim crowe were all supported by Democrats, and Republicans are the party of Abraham Lincoln, emancipation and civil rights, which is to say that opposing Obama because he is a Marxist is the most racist thing the right has done.
Sounds like the bitch is a Truther…. and I do not like Truthers.
I wish I could say I was surprised. My only question to add: How exactly does Obamacare=gay rights? Is there a hidden homo provision in HR 3200?
It’s about decency and pride man. It’s like, if you don’t enshrine the right to take the labor from someone else without an agreed price, you’re oppressing everyone. Don’t let the terrorists win, man!
Ok, now I’ve got to make my head stop hurting from thinking like that. Anyone have aspirin?
Mcswan (#2) says a mouthful. For an in-depth discussion, I strongly recommend David Horowitz’ "Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left." Gay support for Hamas never looked so ridiculous.
Paul(#3): You hijack a post about a head-scratchingly inappropriate 9/11 rant with… a head-scratchingly inappropriate rant against Carolinians. Perhaps this is parody? I haven’t had my coffee yet.
GP (#7): The Homo provisions? Sure, there’s a subsidy for Amyl Nitrate, but thanks to SEIU’s quick action, it can’t be bottled in China anymore! 😉
Best wishes,
-MFS
How exactly does Obamacare=gay rights?
If you bareback irresponsibly and catch the HIV, the Government will rob healthy people who made better choices of their earnings to provide you with free medication and disability payments.
Liberalism in action.
When you live and breathe inside a thin shell of crushing victimhood, I suspect you try to gather every other form of thin shelled “victim” around you in the “strength in numbers” fantasy. I have long felt that gays have done themselves more harm than good by uniting with those who have sexual differences and proclivities that are hugging the fringe of societal tolerance. LGBT seems to me to be a big enough umbrella, it not too large already.
This Kate Kendell is not psychologically wired for happiness. She is so empowered by her own own hate and bile that she has sacrificed normalcy for her “cause.”
Her words are an open window into the world of one suffering from a derangement syndrome. Read them and learn. You can not argue with lunatics. You only fuel their derangement.
From my experience, many gays who feel “victimized” throw away their chance to be accepted within the greater society by being on the prowl for perceived insults or playing the gay jester in some never ending, tedious theater of the mind.
This site is a wonderful example of confident people who happen to be gay giving their views with wit and clarity. But it is also visited by some pretty remarkable strangers. When some of the liberal gay visitors start in on their cat fights, it is a “site” to behold. I am always impressed with how grounded the gay conservatives really are. They is something to be said for believing in yourself.
ok, so now, on every 9/11, we cannot speak of anything except islamic extremism?
If any group has politicized 9/11 it’s the GOP: from bushco raising the terror alert to suit his agenda (thanks for coming clean, Tom Ridge!), to rudy 9/11 giuliani, the right has used 9/11 to advance its extremist agenda.
these types of arguments only cement what sane people know: the GOP is the party of “NO” without any positive agenda. the GOP’s losing the credibility war by posing arguments like this (and against Obama’s school speech, etc., etc., etc.).
Here’s a tip: come up with an agenda that’s different from NO (ie. no new taxes {failed}, no abortion {failed}, no gay marriage {will fail}).
I’ve lost count of the people who have told me – I’m the kind of person who doesn’t interrupt rants, so people feel they can really talk to me – that apparently the West is just as bad as or worse than Islamic countries.
As a bisexual woman, I find the idea that lack of legal recognition for gay marriage – however horrible – is anything like facing the death penalty for consensual sex with adults of the same gender to be downright offensive. I also loathe the idea that pressure to wear high heels or the availability of boob jobs is the same as having acid thrown in your face, an age of consent of nine or FGM.
The left has is unbelieveably pampered if it believes that even the most far right fringe nuts in the West are anything as bad as the mainstream in Islamic societies. If it’s so bad here, why don’t they go live there?
“Here’s a tip: come up with an agenda that’s different from NO (ie. no new taxes {failed}, no abortion {failed}, no gay marriage {will fail}).”
I love how Buckeyenutlover can’t defend the Democrat’s policies. Whining about how the Republicans supposedly aren’t coming up with alternatives (incidentally, not true) just makes it seem like you can’t defend the Dem’s policies. It’s not the job of the party which doesn’t have the WH, the Senate or the House to come up with alternative (although they are). Your people are the ones in power. It is their job to persuade people by the force of their arguments.
Stop whining and start defending. Unless you can’t.
Tom Ridge came clean, it didn’t happen.
(Can’t link to the article at work, firewalled)
I’d ask you for sources bnl, but that would be like asking you for coherency.
And it’s funny, your ‘no gay marriage will fail’ What state are you in again? Can you count?
Her comment reminds me of Michael Moore’s even more repulsive comment on 9.11.01:
“If someone did this [Fahrenheit 9/11] to get back at Bush, then they did so by killing thousands of people who DID NOT VOTE for him! Boston, New York, D.C., and the planes’ destination of California — these were places that voted AGAINST Bush!”
Can’t you just feel the hate?
So while activists like her whore for the DNC, how fares gay rights legislation? Oh right. The majority Dems lack the votes to pass the Matthew Shepherd Act outright, instead they talk about attaching it to other legislation to force it through; ENDA is stalled because of “gender identity”; DADT repeal is getting nothing more than lip-service with perhaps a hearing or two for more political theater; DOMA reform or outright repeal both have zero chance of passing; UAFA keeps getting forgotten, except for the occasional lip-service of course.
ok, so now, on every 9/11, we cannot speak of anything except islamic extremism?
You can’t talk about 9/11 anymore. It’s now called “The Big Whoopsie in NYC!”. And now it’s a day of remembering and serving Chairman Obama.
Actually Ridge said specifically that did NOT happen.
Yes, to America-loathing liberals, Rudy’s exemplary response to terrorist attacks must be derided. why? because they have nothing like it. They responded to the first attacks on teh world trade center like it was a law enforcement issue, giving us the second attacks. Bill Clinton told people essentially that it wasnt a big deal, not to worry about it, he would catch the perpetrators. He then went on to turn down opportunities to kill and take custody of Bin Laden, to build a wall between the FBI and CIA so that he could take illegal foreign campaign contributions undetected, and to do absolutely nothing in response to attacks on the USS Cole.
I’d also remind the Ohioan semen solicitor that Rudy cleaned up New York City, made it safe, clean, and turned it into a livable city after years of Democrat policies and corruption had turned it into a corrupt, filthy, depressed, murderous, crime-ridden cesspool.
keeping America safe is now “extremist” to America loathing liberals. Which explains why Americans dont trust them to do it, and haven’t for over 30 years!
Actually the GOP is beating Democrats in just about every measurable way. Polls on party trust on issues, polls on the generic ballot, majorities disapprove of Obama, his agenda, and despite having filibuster proof majorities in congress, Republicans are kicking your ass on Obamacare! Your brownshirts, ACORN have been exposed as the the deeply corrupt organization they are, and your communist darlings in the White House are getting fired left and right.
actually tax cuts were an enormous success both electorally, and in practice where they brought us out of the Clinton dot-com recession, averted a second recession after 9/11, and INCREASED government revenue.
Actually that was a success too! Bush won on that message twice, and made the liberals favorite passtime of partial birth abortions illegal. McCain didnt run on that message, and lost, and its so successful that Democrats like Obama have to run promising they will reduce abortions, even though they have no intention or desire to do so!
It will?
Two words: Prop 8!
Even in a deep blue state that Obama won by 61 to 37, THE largest margin of victory in that state since before WWII
and gay marriage went down in flames.
to OBAMA supporters! Democrat, OBAMA supporters defeated gay marriage in California.
And you think you are winning that issue?
How many states have constitutional amendments prohibiting it?
Gay activists have made gay marriage virtually impossible in those states, and if Democrats try to overturn DOMA, as they are promising to do, the rest will follow!
I dont know what universe you think you are winning in, but it certainly isnt this one.
Once again, the homosexual movement has shown its true colors. They do not care about this nation, or the victims of 9/11 and the heroes who have died to protect their freedoms. All they care about is trying to prove that they are superior to everyone else.
Although I would be the first person to say that Islamic Extremism needs to be stomped out before they try to take over America, you can’t fault them for their tough punishments on homosexual perversion.
(#21) Ah, another MOBY checking in.
What pray tell are you doing on a gay-themed website, honey?
Best wishes,
-MFS
Nah, hes not a MOBY, hes a PHONY. Its probably Gillie or Tardo or nutguzzler
It is hateful women like this woman who make it difficult for non-gay citizens of this country to open up about our respect and love for any human being, even if they’re gay. She puts a sickening taste in my mouth. Luckily, as a heterosexual, I have known beautiful gay people, and this low life won’t make me hate all gay people.
“23.Nah, hes not a MOBY, hes a PHONY. Its probably Gillie or Tardo or nutguzzler”
Are you suggesting there are not people who believe as he does? BTW, you crafted a great response to him in John’s thread.
Some call Joe Wilson a great statesman, and are even proud of his “Shout Out”, so lets see, he says, he was told by the Republican leadership to apologize (he did not realize the magnitude of his mistake), he then gives his weak “not for reals” apology, but then goes on to those “Commentator Talk Shows” and basically says he real was not wrong and plays the victim card and calls for people to send in for money to support him for re-election. Had he kept quiet after his apology, that might have been the end of it but now that people know he lied about the apology the story will continue, until he is out of a job and the funny thing is, he does not see it coming. This summer has been rough for his beleaguered political party. At least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC). In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”. The birthers, the tea baggers, the screamers, and the deathers continued extreme minority presence will become tiresome to mainstream America, if it has not already done so.
