Fight Unemployment in California; Support Carly Fiorina

With the junior Senator from California, elected at the tail-end of a recession, having watched unemployment climb by 33% in the Golden State during her tenure in the United States Senate*, we in California need a representative in Washington who knows how to create jobs.  Unemployment out here is now at a post-World War II high.

Mrs. Boxer seems indifferent to the employment situation in the Golden State; just this week she voted to table an amendment which could have created or saved (to borrow an expression from the President she supports) as many as 80,000 jobs.

To bring California back, we would do well to send someone to Washington who is not a creature of government.  With a background in business, Carly Fiorina knows what it takes to get companies to move to (or stay in) the Golden State, creating jobs, fostering innovation and expanding opportunity.

Her website is now up and while it’s still pretty basic, you can contribute.  Join me in supporting this accomplished woman.

We can defeat Barbara Boxer and elect a Senator committed not to left-wing ideology and attacks on her constituents, but to representing California and helping this great state regain the status it once enjoyed, as the engine for growth, innovation and opportunity, akin to that shining city on the hill of which the greatest Californian once spoke.

Despite Mrs. Boxer’s failures, it’s not going to be an easy road for Carly.  Ma’am and her minions are sure to do what that can to slime this good woman.  The senator’s blogging allies have already been attacking her web-site.   This is just a taste of even more mean-spirited attacks to come.  Don’t let their bile deter you.  Just onsider Barbara Boxer’s record and Carly Fiorina’s accomplishments.

And think how much a businesswoman, a Washington outsider can do for our great state.

*Unemployment in California currently stands at 12.2%; it peaked at 9.9% in the 1992 recession.

  1. My objection is that Mrs. Fiorina is being promoted by the NRSC. Now, I support Chuck DeVore. But, if Carly wins, I will support her. I do not like being told who to vote for from the NRSC. Remember, they are backing Gov. Christ over Marco Rubio in Florida. I want them to leave the process alone and back whoever wins to the hilt.

  2. Wouldn’t the job climate be more readily changed by action in Sacremento? Change the STATE tax burden to make you more business-friendly, as opposed the the same cr@p the other 49 states will be subjected to? Yes, Ma’am Boxer’s unemployment gives us all a fighting chance, but this topic is best answered at the state level, yes?

  3. Carly singlehandedly ruined HP. I can’t think of a single bigger failure in the tech industry than her. For her to want to be a Senator and ruin something bigger is just horrifying to me.

  4. Actully, Nick, it’s far too complicated to address Ms. Fiorina’s record at HP in a comment to a blog post, but in her tenure, she essentially laid the groundwork for the company’s long-term survival.

  5. Yes, of course all Carly supporters repeat the “laid the groundwork” story, but add, “its a little too complicated to get into here”.

It’s a lie – don’t believe it – she nearly wrecked HP and I am not referring in any way to the layoffs, etc. I am talking about strategy.

  6. I seem to recall that on one of my college business courses we actually studied Fiorina as an example of what *not* to do when merging companies.

It’s ridiculous to think that Washington DC is going to save California. The changes have to come from within.

  7. Re points about Carly&HP, as a business news junkie I have mixed feelings. She did however shake it up, and HP owes much of their survival to her. Still causes heated debates depending on POV. If she wins, I bet she’ll still bring heat. This is politics, yes? So I’m begging you, PLEASE replace Ma’am ASAP. And Diane and Nancy in due time. Here in Valley Forge, we’re stuck with OMG, Arlen (not for long, nobody wants him) and Casey Jr. emphasis on the Jr. Truth is, once elected, in DC, they vote for the nation. We’ll do our best with Arlen, and Casey and Murtha. With Hope and please God, Change…maybe we can get our govt back.

  8. I didn’t know that Carley Fiorina was running for a seat in the Senate until I read the slime directed toward her from the hate filled left wing bloggers. It has not yet equals the slime thrown at the lady from Alaska. But by the time election rolls around, I am sure it will.

  9. Morning all. Does anyone know where she stands on Abortion, Illegal Immigration, Health Care etc? I went to her website and it’s pretty limited to either contributing or joining up. Her facebook page only states she is a conservative but then I suspect that Olympia Snow and John McCain also describe themselves as conservatives.
Now’s the time folks to be really thorough in checking out candidates so you have no surprises. By the by, I do admire her I just want more information.

  10. scr_north, the campaign is just getting started. More information is surely to come.

  11. fiorina was a horrible leader at HP and was a horrible adviser to mccain (though he fired her for appropriate reasons). she has absolutely NO CHANCE of winning the seat. NONE.

it’s too bad the GOP can’t come up with serious candidates isn’t it?

  13. I’ll consider donating to Fiorina. I recommend that others consider donating to Peter Schiff in CT. I don’t agree with him on everything, but he is the only guy in the political arena today who seriously tries to tell people the inconvenient truth about the American economy and educate people in fundamental, common-sense principles of economics that have been forgotten. If Schiff made it to the Senate, he would be a crucial and valuable voice.

  15. She is not the one to back, and the other hack has a video praising Van Jones on his green jobs for Gods sake. Chuck De Vore is the one for me. My research concludes he will do the best job because he has a spine. We need to get this right, CA depends on it.

    Comment by jeaneeinabottle — September 26, 2009 @ 3:03 pm - September 26, 2009

  16. Yeah, because the Republicans in the Senate really need a west coast version of Olympia Snowe.

Is it true HP stock jumped 8% the day she announced her resignation?

  17. Jobs for who? Ms. Fiorina has always shown strong support for foreign workers in the technology industry. Would that be 80,000 jobs for Californians or for scores of “guest workers”?

    Comment by Kevin — September 28, 2009 @ 10:46 pm - September 28, 2009

  18. [...] Recall the unemployment rate has increased by 33% since Mrs. Boxer was first elected to the Senate in 1992 (during a recession, I might add). [...]
