Gillie. Please offer references for your statements so it is easier to do some research on the web. All I could find was reference to Reagan authorizing the strike. I also found something about the Bush Administration considering something related to reparations. Thanks. Oh wait, Bush would need to pass this stuff through a Democratic Majority - humm.

It was a gret speech. Netanyahu had the temerity to call the members hypocrites for validating Iran who violates the Charter. . He has more backbone than Obama. Hugo Chavez was roundly applauded fo announcing that he is spreading his revlution throughout Latin America and there is nothing anybody can do to stop it. and while he was in New York he was orchestrating Mel Zelaya´s return to Honduras via the FMLN in El Salvador who yesterday sent a cache of arms to the ¨Melistas¨Chavez did warn Micheletti to step to avoid bloodshed.
I didn´t hear all the speeches but if it is true tha Gadhafi invited the U.N to move to Lybia, I would agree with him on that. Good riddance! It´s become nothing more than a meeting of Socialists International.

I've watched this twice already. How refreshing that there is one man who will stand on the world stage and proclaim the truth.

Not surprising a man who can say this:
"this is not a clash of civilizations but a clash between civilization and barbarism." is the only one who will stand for the rights of gays in the Muslim world.

#1 Tano should be along any minute to explain how Bibi's confrontational attitude will "make them more paranoid, and possibly convince them that their survival depended on getting nukes."

Or maybe he'll just point out that "The Iranians use [Israel]-hatred as a political strategy. They know that to rally their base, they need an enemy, and they try to use [jews]. [Israel] hatred is not central to their ideology, it is central to their political strategy. But whatever,,, how do you think you effectivly counter that? By putting forth a bellicose face and refusing to engage Iran? That just works to support their anti-[Jewish]. The less we engage with them, the more they are able to control the image of [Jews] to their own people. The more we act bellicose, the easier it is for them to make the case to the people that we really do mean them harm."

Ignoring the fact that he's always ignored. When the guy wants you DEAD how are you going to make the perception worse? "Oooh, he's making me so mad I want to destroy them twice over!"

I agree Netanyahu was great with his in your face approach. Too bad our own President hadn't been as forceful.

Many have mentioned how President Obama failed to talk about our exceptionalism during his speech to the United Nations this week. Instead, he took his apology tour directly to the U.N. and again took the opportunity to lower the United States to a level of the likes of Iran, Venezuela, North Korea and Libya.

It’s mystifying why the President didn’t mention that we believe in people; we believe that the best is yet to come; we believe that the call of liberty and freedom finds comfort in the hearts and minds of people worldwide. Ours is a nation of immigrants and a safe harbor for those seeking freedom of expression and religion.

Rather than apologize to the world, Obama should have reminded members that the United States has led the world in the search for innovations and advancements to improve the quality of life and extend the life expectancy of man. When the people of the world face natural disaster or disease, the United States leads the world in providing relief and cures. When the people of the world are searching for hope, the United States is the beacon of hope for the downtrodden. When the people of the world are threatened by dark forces, the United States steps forward to combat the threat of evil.

We are a nation of people whose diverse backgrounds derive from every remote area of this planet. Each unique experience weaves a rich history of the world yet melds into a unifying voice called the United States of America.

We will continue to lead and search for solutions to the world’s problems and we ask that each of you join us in that pursuit, for the people of the world deserve the best that we have to offer.

That is what I would have preferred to hear; sadly just the opposite occurred yet again.

Oh, it gets better. Not only is Obama too much of a spineless coward to do anything other than appease despotic regimes, he's perfectly happy to hand over hundreds of thousands of US tax dollars to them as a reward. Of course, we all saw the disgusting hero's welcome that was thrown for one of the Lockerbie bombers that was released from prison to return to Libya to be with his family. That, in itself, should have been enough to prohibit that homicidal circus freak Gadhafi from setting foot on US soil to address the UN. Add to that the fact that homosexuality is illegal in Libya, punishable by up to 5 years in prison for committing "indecent acts." So, shouldn't the gays be asking Obama why his administration is giving $400,000 to a Libyan charity run by the Gadhafi family?

http://cbs2chicago.com/local/kirk.gadhafi.charities.2.1205623.html

Several things worth noting: (1) the only person demanding that Obama withdraw the grant is a Republican, Rep. Mark Kirk of Illinois; (2) the Administration said that it would keep in mind the "raw sensitivities" of the family members of the Lockerbie victims (as it hands over $400,000 in US tax dollars to the President of the country responsible for their loved ones' deaths); (3) in response to criticism about his Administration defending DOMA in court, Obama has assured us that he is a "fierce advocate" for equal rights for gays (again, as he hands a huge pile of our money to the President of a country that criminalizes homosexuality); and (4) the charity, the Gadhafi Development Foundation, is "a charity which tries to project a new and positive image of Libya."

Here's a thought--maybe Libya would have a more positive image if it stopped blowing commercial jetliners out of the sky and throwing people in prison for being gay. Just a thought (though apparently not one that Obama could come up with).

Tano, if you're reading this (and I KNOW you are), go ahead and defend this. Explain to us how this fits in with your belief that Obama is a "great leader." I'm dying to hear your version of this story in which I'm sure Obama is a hero and Rep. Kirk is a racist Obama-hater.

Several things worth noting: (1) the only person demanding that Obama withdraw the grant is a Republican, Rep. Mark Kirk of Illinois; (2) the Administration said that it would keep in mind the “raw sensitivities” of the family members of the Lockerbie victims (as it hands over $400,000 in US tax dollars to the President of the country responsible for their loved ones’ deaths); (3) in response to criticism about his Administration defending DOMA in court, Obama has assured us that he is a “fierce advocate” for equal rights for gays (again, as he hands a huge pile of our money to the President of a country that criminalizes homosexuality); and (4) the charity, the Gadhafi Development Foundation, is “a charity which tries to project a new and positive image of Libya.”

Here’s a thought–maybe Libya would have a more positive image if it stopped blowing commercial jetliners out of the sky and throwing people in prison for being gay. Just a thought (though apparently not one that Obama could come up with).

Tano, if you’re reading this (and I KNOW you are), go ahead and defend this. Explain to us how this fits in with your belief that Obama is a “great leader.” I’m dying to hear your version of this story in which I’m sure Obama is a hero and Rep. Kirk is a racist Obama-hater.
