This sure doesn’t sound like global warming:  U.S. Northeast May Have Coldest Winter in a Decade.

  1. No worries they’ve got plenty of hot air up there in New England to keep the public warm.

  2. See, that’s where you’re wrong. It is Global Warming. Global Warming is tricky that way…

  3. Ahh, but you see, if it weren[t for global warming, it would be the coldest winter in a MILLENIUM! Or something like that

Do not mock the liberal gods.

  4. BS that it is global warming. The global warming does not exist because what we have is weather cycles…. pure and simple.

    Comment by thestraightaussie — September 29, 2009 @ 5:42 pm - September 29, 2009

  5. Exactly …according to liberals, if it’s hot it’s global warming, if it’s cold it’s global warming, if it’s windy it’s global warming. And it’s also the fault of capitalism!
BTW, have you seen how many hurricanes we’ve had down here in south Florida this year? How many have approached the US Atlantic mainland?
Zip zero nada. 30 days left in the hurricane season. Cross your fingers, we may have more evidence to embarass the boobs on the left. hehe

  6. More evidence that we need Crap and Tax to fend off man made global cooling.

  7. BTW, have you seen how many hurricanes we’ve had down here in south Florida this year?

I keep hoping. Anyways, remember when it was fashionable to blame everything El Niño? What happened to that?

And if the UN says we’re going to warm up no matter what we do, then why screw around with destroying economies and making people poor? To hell with it. Let’s get on with drilling for oil.

  8. Actually, there are 60 days left in hurricane season – runs until Nov 30. But it’s all global warming. That trip back to MI in August that never got above 60? That was also global warming. . .

    Comment by jaxdancer — September 29, 2009 @ 8:06 pm - September 29, 2009

  9. From Jim Williams at HurricaneCity.com:

Is the season over in the Atlantic? the official end is November 30th. We are up to six named storms ,so going back to 1900 only seven hurricane seasons of six or more named storms had the last named storm form before October 1st. Anotherwords only 7% of all seasons did not have an October 1st or later storm,so keep your eyes open.

More rain couldn’t hurt, but not the 24″ in 2 days like the Phillipines got.

  10. A theme seems to be developing here. No matter what I say, I will be decried as a racist and no matter the weather, it will be the result of global warming. Er, I mean, climate change. Reminds me of a card trick I learned in high school.

  11. ummmm….since our planet is something like 4 billion years old….trends take a long time, not just year by year. So, this year is going to be colder than last year. How cold? For how long?

I think the fact that the polar Ice cap has shrunk below it’s average for the last 30 years and this years is a bit more significant than a small area of the planet having a colder winter than it did just last year. Last I checked, natures habits wasn’t based on political views.

  12. Kevin – exactly. In the 2-3 billion years since the earth cooled from the molten mass it started as, it has been much warmer, much cooler, and just right.

Polar ice cap data from the last 30 years doesn’t really tell us much (divide 30 by a couple of billion years). Add to that the fact that we’ve not been able to measure the area of the polar caps reliably until after satellite measurements became available.

The man-made climate “panic” is nothing more than an attempt by statist to control the rest of us. It’s just one of many reasons they have for assuming control over our lives “for our own good”.

    Weather != Climate.

As I recall, we were promised that it would completely melt by the end of last summer. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot???

Last I checked, natures habits wasn’t based on political views.

Indeed. Nor is it based on the bloviations and fear mongering by a bunch of morons whose lives would be meaningless otherwise. But I’m always curious about the liberal whining about the rich getting richer, but have no problem with Algore making beau coup cash off his Church of Global Warmism charade.

  18. Didn’t I hear that the Antartic ice cap has increased as much as the artic ice cap has shrunk? And yes 3 billion years makes it hard to say one year is a game changer but didn’t the nutts on the left say the California wild fires were due to a one degree change in 10 year temps. Come on. Some of this is basic logic and common sense. The leftists have an agenda plain and simple. Everyone should live like the Haitians except for the liberal elites. Note who is jetting around the world….Michelle takes 3 jets to get to Copenhagen. Barack to follow later with 3 more jets. Michael Moore jetting around pushing his latest film. ALGORE jettting around making millions yelling about the end of the world. Boobs are the ones who believe these frauds.

  19. I like Mark Steyn’s take on this issue:

“There are immigration laws on the books right now, aren’t there? Why not try enforcing them? The same people who say that government is a mighty power for good that can extinguish every cigarette butt and detoxify every cheeseburger and even change the very climate of the planet back to some Edenic state so that the water that falleth from heaven will land as ice and snow, and polar bears on distant continents will frolic as they did in days of yore, the very same people say: Building a border fence? Enforcing deportation orders? Can’t be done, old boy. Pie-in-the-sky.”

Liberals categorically reject the possibility of the federal government enforcing immigration laws as either impossible, morally reprehensible, or both. But they narcissistically believe that they have the power through legislation to change the weather and alter the heavens. Hilarious.

  20. I guess “warming” is Newspeak for “colder than a witch’s you-know-what“.

Going down to 58°F here in central FL.

  21. This is a very interesting article: http://bishophill.squarespace.com/blog/2009/9/29/the-yamal-implosion.html; it puts into doubt, the models—based on the data–that have been used to advance this agenda.
