10/2/09: Obama’s Worst Day As President (so far)

US JOB LOSSES WORST SINCE 1983 – 9.8% UNEMPLOYMENT
(Millions of jobs shed SINCE Obama Stimulus bankrupts nation)

chart_job_losses_10020903

DOW DROPS SEVEN OF LAST EIGHT DAYS

US FACTORY ORDERS PLUNGE UNEXPECTEDLY
(How’s that “growing economy” working out for you, Tano?)

CHICAGO LOSES ON FIRST BALLOT FOR 2016 OLYMPICS.
(Only thing accomplished was large Obama carbon footprint,
and Michelle “sacrificing” by making trip)

This President can truly be declared the worst since Jimmy Carter, circa 1979.

2010 and 2012 cannot come soon enough to rescue our nation.

  1. Bruce, I’m right there, shaking my head too at Tano’s recent comments on the economy. He thinks an inflation-driven** boom in the stock market is a growing economy. Astounding. Didn’t he learn anything from our recent bubbles? Re-inflating the bubbles with 0% interest rates, is not growth.

(** “inflation-driven” carefully chosen to make certain heads explode. People don’t realize how inflation works. It’s a long process. It starts with the government setting low interest rate targets, spending like mad and inflating the money supply, specifically M0, the monetary base. Next, it shows up in the asset markets, as asset prices going up when they have no good reason to. Sound familiar? Finally, after many years, it shows up in the CPI. That’s the last symptom of the disease, like death being the last symptom of cancer. Just because you’re alive doesn’t mean you’re free of cancer; just because you don’t see the CPI skyrocketing yet, doesn’t mean your country isn’t already in the grip of inflation. But shhhhh, don’t tell Tano! Let his head explode, or let him lecture me on how “there is no inflation”, like the complete ignoramus he is! ;-) )

Unless, of course, Barack Obama wants to walk back his assertion that anyone who doesn’t do exactly what he wants is a racist, as pushed by his Jimmy Carter, his Nancy Pelosi, his Harry Reid, his Tano, his David Axelrod, his torrentprime….

  17. It’s America’s worst day since Obama’s been president,
not Obama’s worst day since being president.

Even those who dislike Obama, make it about Obama.

    Comment by Geena — October 2, 2009 @ 3:01 pm - October 2, 2009

  18. It’s America’s worst day since Obama’s been president

But I disagree that it is *America’s* worst day.
    - Losing the Chicago Olympics – how is that any skin off America’s nose? It’s skin off Obama’s.
    - The Dow going down – so what? It’s just a number. And we should ask whether it had any business being up.
    - Bad news in the economy: OK, that is legittimately America’s problem and I feel bad about it. But whose bad policies are, at this point, causing it and in need of being defeated? Obama’s. If it’s a bad day for Obama, that’s the silver lining in it being otherwise a cloudy day for America.

    Comment by ILoveCapitalism — October 2, 2009 @ 3:20 pm - October 2, 2009

  19. >Losing the Chicago Olympics
Trivial, compared to unemployment which is the real story

    >The Dow going down – so what? It’s just a number.
Hardly, if it’s just a number than Dow 0 would have no meaning.

    >Bad news in the economy
    exactly…

    >If it’s a bad day for Obama, that’s the silver lining in it being otherwise
    >a cloudy day for America.
It’s still about Obama for you! Obama’s bad day is what comes to your mind first, 9.8% comes next.
America’s equity and wealth you called a number. Well than is 9.8% just a number?

    Comment by Geena — October 2, 2009 @ 3:35 pm - October 2, 2009

  20. And who on earth ever thought they would pick Chicago over Rio!!! There is no comparison. There are only 3 people

    Oprah
And i agree – come back now and do some work.

    Comment by PatriotMom — October 2, 2009 @ 3:38 pm - October 2, 2009

  21. It’s still about Obama for you

Nope. Obama’s *policies*, Geena. Obama’s policies are, at this point, causing the bad economy (which is bad for America) and stand in need of being defeated. If it injures Obama’s political capital and hence his ability to pass or maintain his bad *policies*, then it’s a silver lining in the bad news for America.

    Comment by ILoveCapitalism — October 2, 2009 @ 3:45 pm - October 2, 2009

  22. And I would feel the same way, for the record, if it were the same bad *policies* under President Kerry or Biden or Edwards or, for that matter, President Bush.

(In fact, President Bush did pursue many of the same bad policies… only about 1/3 to 1/4 as intense. E.g., Bush deficits of $400 billion were bad… and are 1/4 of Obama’s $1.6 trillion deficits.)

    Comment by ILoveCapitalism — October 2, 2009 @ 3:47 pm - October 2, 2009

  23. Obama humiliated in Copenhagen. Another 263,000 souls lose their jobs under Obamas watch. Obama said unemployment wouldn’t go above 8%. What a failure this guy is. I’m visiting the peoples republic of Ft Lauderdale FLA and I’m struck by the lack of OOOO Obama bumper stickers. You hardly see a one now. Even Obamas hard core voters have scraped and peeled them off. And I’ve only laughed out loud and pointed to a handful of the vehicles that still have em on. I wonder if Barack will be asked to campaign in only hard core socialist places next year.

    Comment by Gene in Pennsylvania — October 2, 2009 @ 4:05 pm - October 2, 2009

  24. Gene, I live in an ultra-blue, pro-Obama area and I am also astounded by the relative lack of Obama bumper stickers. Maybe 1 car in 50 still has them. Contrast to the 2004 election, when probably 1 car in 5 kept a Kerry-Edwards sticker going for months or even years after the election. What gives?

It’s the second clip. Talking Head is arguing with Correspondent after some press conference during the Gates affair. Talking Head didn’t like the outcome of the press conference. He and Correspondent are both African-American men. Correspondent keeps it all in perspective, make great and reasonable comments. While Talking Head is beside himself with anguish and practically biting Correspondent’s head off, because Correspondent isn’t more upset (i.e., is not seeing things exactly as Talking Head does).

  27. A larger point about “reporting ” in America.
I seem to remember in past when Olympic cities were chosen, the media seemed to have dug up reporting on how the votes were going to go. “Wolf,, in talking to 50% of the delegates of the IOC it appears as though Athens may have 80% of the votes sewn up…”
There is so little actual reporting now going on. Where trained journalists go out, do the work and give us new and fresh information. Instead they rely on faxes from special interest groups or talking heads to formulate stories. It’s why so often the first lines of stories say….”experts were surprised at the labor dept information…..” The dummies in the media didn’t seem to realize that boobs like Oprah Michelle and Barack didn’t have a vote on the IOC committee. hehe
They didn’t finish in second place they finished in LAST PLACE!

  28. The IOC does what the IOC does best.

I checked some of the links. I could not find the blistering comment on Cafferty’s site, but found that there are a lot of people who know nothing about anything…. one idiot seemed to think that the Republicans had control of congress over the last few years when in fact the Dems had the control… sigh….

The other thing is that a commenter on the other site mentioned that Australia would not touch Cap and Trade. Well that person is very, very, wrong. We have the same fight with a stupid govt run by a narcissist named Kevin Rudd or KRUDD. We have a lot of the same cronyism, and worse the woman deputy prime minister is a known communist. (mind I do think she has a lot more substance than KRUDD)

  29. I’m not celebrating the loss of the Olympics (although I am sure were better off without them!)

I am laughing because the fluffer media has been hyping his visit all week, and it was sweet to watch the smiles wiped off their smug little faces. I am laughing because Obama’s worshipers have been shown the foolishness of their little bronze god. Obama personalized this. If Chicago had won, he would have taken credit for it and basked in the glow of his success. But he failed, and it’s only fair that he be ridiculed for his failure.

  30. I just heard on independent Fox News that Obama only got 14 votes out of 94 cast on the ballot when Chicago was shown the door. Yeesh. They are also reporting that Chicago and Illinois spent 55-100 million dollars on the effort not including the federal govenments flights for the first family. Wonder how many young lives could have been saved in that beleaguered community with that wasted money. Only God knows.

  37. My understanding is that the IOC has never been a great fan of the U.S. to begin with. My guess is that despite all the official process behind selecting the location, the committee was gunning for Rio, since no South American city has ever hosted an Olympics. Chicago did make it to the top 4, and it’s even possible that it was a second choice for the committee, and many members may have believed that eliminating Chicago first would make it more likely for Rio to come out on top. Even so, I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama’s pitch did hurt Chicago’s chances.

Obama’s just cleaning up the horrible actions of the preceeding administration; to suggest he can undo all the damage in 9 months is laughable.

  41. 39: Our friends here tend to forget that unemployment continued to climb for over 2 years into St. Ronnie’s Administration. The lowest point of unemployment didn’t come until 6 years later, at the end of Ronnie’s term.

So exactly why is Obama worse on unemployment at this point?
