Could Obama’s Failure in Copenhagen Help Defeat ObamaCare?

When President Obama flew to Copenhagen to try to bring the Olympic to his home town in 2016, he hoped to translate his personal popularity abroad into a real accomplishment.  And now that wavering Democratic Congressmen and Senators see what little clout that popularity brings, will the President be able to strong arm them into backing an increasingly unpopular proposal when a final bill emerges?

In Europe where the President is more popular than he is here, his political capital doesn’t seem to yield results.  And with many of their seats in jeopardy, legislators aren’t likely to go out on a limb for a leader who can’t deliver.

  1. I tried to say the other day that, given the badness of Obama’s *policies*, any hit to his political capital is good for America. Whereupon I was informed that for me, “It’s all about Obama.” (Missing the point.)

  3. This bunch of idiots has yet to prove they can get anything done except pass a pork bill that has been a complete bomb and damaged Obamas credibility. I for one am glad he’s a failure. America is not a leftists country and lefitst policies are not good for freedom and liberty. The sooner they are furthur humilated and escorted out of town the better for the country.

  4. People are now seeing that the Obama bank-bailout merely enriched the bankers, the cash-for-clunkers primarily put taxpayer moneys in the pockets of Honda and Toyota, the stimulus plan isn’t helping Main Street nor improving the employment numbers….and now here in October there’s still no definitive health-care plan to yet-debate.

Where’s the leadership? The White House even mis-judged the IOC host-city vote and placed the presidential-imprimatur…for the first-time…on Chicago’s bid; which was rejected in the First Round. Like Roy Kohn’s reputed scorn of the gay community in the 1980′s, “…they couldn’t fix a parking ticket”… after 15-years of organizing.

  5. All you need to know about the Copenhagen Obama humiliation is that Obama and Michelle got 18 votes out of a possible 94! Not that’s a rout of epic proportions! What a team of idiots and boobs.

  6. Wish I had the link, but… Someone translated articles from the Danish press about their defeat, and the gist of it was: the IOC didn’t appreciate their blithe, self-referencing, narcissistic, ignorant arrogance.

  9. Now that he’s done jetting off to Copenhagen to woo the IOC, maybe The One will deign to figure out what to do in Afghanistan seeing as how our troops are still being killed and injured. Either make the decision to do what it takes to win the war or make the decision to get out.

If McChrystal decides that he won’t lead a futile (Viet Nam-like) effort and resigns, Obama will have a debacle on his hands.

It was Bush’s mess on Jan 20 but now, nine months in, it’s Obama’s mess.

Sorry, Barry, but it goes with the job.

  10. Apparently the thing Barack and Michelle are good at is the dress up, go to banquets, invite friends over, have great dinners, give inane speechs etc. The rest of being President he’s yet to grasp.
