Ever met a guy who complained about his ex- for months after they broke up? Or a woman who, years after she took leave of an abusive, unresponsive or jut plain imperfect spouse, keeps complaining about his imperfections?
Such folks seem to have a lot in common with those people who just can’t let go of their animus for the immediate past President of the United States. I wouldn’t worry about this phenomenon so much if not for the concentration of such folk working in an around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.
Yeah, that’s a pretty good analogy. Having George Bush as our president was just like a slightly problematic relationship, and not at all like having a lazy, stupid, arrogant jerk run our military, economy, and country into the ground.
You mean like we have now? Surely somebody told that poor bastard that he’s the CIC. Eventually, he’s going to run out of excuses, grab his sack (if any) and actually lead. The sad question is, how many of our soldiers have to die while he plays golf or bitches about Bush at $32K/couple dinners?
Think he’ll send our soldiers some of that Kobe beef or will he just declare “Let them eat MREs”?
I’m afraid I don’t get it either. I personally thought that Bush was one of the worst presidents we’ve had. But he’s no longer president. Besides, there’s plenty to complain about the current one.
I wasn’t a Bush fan because he was expanding executive power, spending too much, and running the wars poorly. Now we have a president that is increasing government power, spending way more, and running the wars poorly. This new one is worse.
#1. When did Levi get abducted by Aliens (illegal or otherwise)???
In my opinion, there are 4 political parties in America, from Left to Right–there is the Loony Left (Obama, Pelosi), the Moderate Left (Hillary, Bayh), the Moderate Right (McCain, Pawlenty), and the Religious Right (Bush, Huckabee). We have had the misfortune of having the two worst presidents in history back-to-back coming from the far extremes. I voted for Hillary in the primaries and McCain in the election. I would like to see more moderates get into office. But the Loony Left and the Religious Right can’t tolerate moderates.
Pretty good analogy. Just like the bitter divorcés, lefties believe that everything wrong with the world is someone else’s fault; their problems always imposed by others.
Ash – I don’t agree with you that Bush was far-right. If anything, he was way too moderate (immigration, trade, taxes, spending, his multi-cultural belief that all cultures embrace our values).
I thought about exactly which category Bush fit into–I think he was more seen as Religious Right than he actually was. I still can’t place him in the moderates, though. Palin–whom I admire tremendously–is probably a better example of the R. R.
I think you may need to make a slight change in your “4 parties” analogy, and Palin is a good example. Some politicians have a difference between who they are, and how they govern. Both Reagan and Palin were strong conservatives as Governors, who did not govern as far to the right as they were, and made a great amount of effort to work with their opposition to get things done. Obama has led his career way off in leftist field, and has made no effort to work with the opposition that might differ from his personal beliefs.
So who would you rather have, a leftist who is bound and determined to change your life the way he thinks is best, or a conservative who is willing to leave you alone?
