Public Option’s Not Dead Yet
It does sound like a bad monster movie or a clever take on the Arthur legend:
Well, Glenn Reynolds did say “that there’s a Monty Python clip for everything this Administration does . . . ”
Here’s the Broadway version:

Mary Landreau and the other Democrat liars who are going to hide behind their inconsequential no votes on final passage to excuse their approval of the bill when it counts, at the filibuster stage, must be made to know that a vote for cloture is a vote for single payer. And their constituents must let them know they will lose their jobs for it.

Let me make one prediction, AE, any Senate Democrat from a “red” (and possibly even “purple”) state who votes in favor of cloture (i.e. against the filibuster) and is up for reeleciton in 2010 will lose his or her seat.

I hope you’re right, Dan! And not just those up for re-election in 2010.
But my point is just that we need to get on the phones and make it clear to them NOW, because it appears that they think they can get away with voting for cloture, allowing their fellow Democrats to pass socialized health care by a simply majority. Mary Landreiu, Evan Bayh and the rest of the Blue Dog Dems need their constituents to convince them they WILL lose their jobs if they vote for cloture.
