So what if President Golfs and Plays Basketball with just guys?

Maybe because I’ve been reading a lot of about sex differences lately that all this hullabaloo over the president’s golfing (and basketball) buddies has struck me as just that:  hullabaloo.  No more than a tempest in a teapot.  

So what if he golfs and plays basketball only with men?  If these outings are just for recreational purposes only, then he’s doing what the better part of his fellow citizens do every weekend.

Have you ever heard feminists get upset when women gather together without men?   

It happens all the time and has happened throughout history–and likely through prehistory as well.  Numerous anthropological studies show that primates also often gather together in conclaves which exclude the opposite sex.

Some have become so obsessed with gender equality that we alas have often lost sight of human nature.

Let Obama play hoops and hit the links with the guys. Exactly which high-powered woman is he supposed to set a pick for, box out, or look the other way when she uses the foot wedge? Hillary? Maureen Dowd? Janet Napolitano?

Let’s criticize the president on his policies and not politicize his downtime.   We all need time to relax–and should be able to choose our companions when we do.

  2. Again, my theory–Obama is gay and using his new power to appoint himself older male “mentors.” And again, it’s what I would do if I were President.

  4. The whole kerfuffle is a smoke-screen of misdirection….it’s not “who” Obama’s been playing golf with, it’s “how many times”.

    Thirty-four rounds since being sworn-in, and the first few months were deep-Winter. That’s approximately one-round of golf per week…! Yet George Buch-43 was pilloried by the pressure for his less-frequent escapes to the links. Yet another MSM-Liberalist double-standard.

    The President is never truly out-of-touch while golfing since it’s typically on a secured military course and they do have encrypted cell-phones and Crack-berries… As a golfer myself, I don’t see a problem with the POTUS playing gold per-se. It’s good to get out of the echo-chamber of the West Wing and away from the phones and the staff for a few hours. Perhaps a chance for several uninterrupted hours of discussion-time with advisors and staff away from the briefing-books.

  5. I really wish that people would look at the fact that his whole life, Obama has needed to surround himself with powerful, older men. He is also threatened by strong women like Hillary and Palin. (Except Michelle, who preys upon his weakness and plays his Lady MacBeth–I can just see her during the campaign–”Screw your courage to the sticking place, Barry, and we’ll not fail!”) He wants fathers. He wants older men to affirm his masculinity and tell him what to do so he can please them.

  7. Are you kidding me??!!! For the last eight years all we heard was what a jackass Bush was for doing anything!! He couldn’t take a piss without us knowing about it from the left. NOW with this country in the financial hell hole that we have never seen before this administration and all the major news outlets and all the leftwing bloggers are doing their best to shut down just about all free speech or regulate the heck out it with the NEA, the teachers getting a hold of our kids, in other words through propaganda, we are supposed to shut up about him playing golf. Who he’s playing golf with. 8 yrs of whining and complaining about Bush. It now sounds all the same to me. What do these people stand for anyway??!!
