I can tell you from my Anti-Vietnam War activist days (sigh) that putting a kitchen sinkful of issues onto a gathering just gives people more reasons to not join in. For instance, “Free Bobby Seale” was one of too many items on our “End the War Now” why-we’re-marching-today list, and folks who weren’t sure what that meant would have reason to stand aside.
To be effective, it’s important to keep the message simple and focused, dumbed down really, like the Dems have taught us all so well how to do these last eight years.

It’s certainly odd how the teaparties didn’t stress imm. enforcement or didn’t go after pols over that issue when a) that’s a more fundamental issue than taxes and spending, and b) that’s a much more popular issue than libertarianism. It’s certainly *odd*, isn’t it?

A teaser:

…the economy added approximately $112 billion dollars in output quarter-over-quarter. Yet we have spent $173 billion worth of the $787 billion dollar stimulus plan so far.

In other words, the stimulus plan is ‘returning’ just 65-cents for every dollar spent. Factor in future interest on the stimulus debt… and that ‘return’ may fall even more.

Can’t we all just get along? Being unemployed gives you time to do stuff. Some people just can’t handle change. I hope they learn to settle down in their new life style. It is so important to be happy and praise The Won. Some people must be redistributed sooner than others. Rome wasn’t dismantled in a day.

Real people: No Tardo, that’s 3.5% *annualized*, so even by the government’s numbers (which are Potemkin numbers, for the reasons just stated), it’s only around 0.875% or so.

Real people: No Tardo, that was just (1) Cash for Clunkers and (2) growth in government spending. Note that (1) steals from future quarters, while (2) is fundamentally non-productive – at least in the real world. The ranks of the unemployed continue to swell.

This summer I drove across West Virginia from Ohio to the Virginia line on top of ther Shenandoah Mountain. I drove US33 all the way. It was beautiful drive. Occasionally I would come upon an enormous sign saying in large letters “YOUR STIMULUS BILL AT WORK”. It reminded me of the times in the 30s when I watched the men in the WPA with their picks and shovels.

I was told that the signs in WV alone cost the tax payers $300,000.00.

Yeah, one of those jobs was reinforcing the Bay bridge on Labor Day, today the bridge is closed since the ‘repair’ fell on a number of cars.
