A Simple Headline Undermines Frank Rich’s Entire Argument about Stalinists on the Right

‘Republican’ Scozzafava endorses Democrat against Conservative Party’s Hoffman.

If she prefers the Democrat who supports the President’s health care plan to the Conservative who opposes big-spending policies, then clearly conservatives and libertarians were justified in their skepticism of this woman who has now proven herself to be a DIABLO.

  1. Yes, it was obvious that she is DIABLO, and it was one of the reasons that so many Conservatives were fighting against her.

  2. DIABLO? Grow the f*** up already. You don’t like her, fine. But show me one thing that Hoffman has done to prove his conservative roots. Talking about them should not be enough, especially for people who claimed that Obama was not experienced enough

  3. Rachel,

I dont think anyone here argued that Obama is not experienced enough to be a member of the house or senate. However, he is clearly not experienced enough to be president and we are all paying the price for it.

  4. #2: Well, for starters, Rachel, Hoffman is NOT a recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award.

  5. P.S. And I have to say, nothing says “experience” like calling the cops on a reporter who asked her a question.

  6. Rachel, DIABLO, if you follow the link means Democrat In All But Label Only. In our various posts on Ms. Scozzafava, we have addressed the issue of what makes her more akin to Barack Obama than to the GOP mainstream.

And this endorsement where she prefers Obama’s man to the man preferred by the GOP rank and file merely makes our point. Now, please address the issues actually considered in the posts to which you attach you comment,

    Thanks.

Is that really what that means? I thought it meant Dykes In Atrocious Blazers Love Obama. I was way off…

  8. To his further credit, Hoffman is also not a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

OTOH, common sense says to scrutinize Hoffman and his prairie-fire popularity. What are his priorities? Will he become a mouthpiece for conservative factions in a way that loses sight of rebuilding a center-right governing majority? How much will he actually DO in DC between now and next summer when he’ll be fighting for his political life? If he wins, will the GOP proudly embrace him then? Will the Democrats, as a kind of grudge match, do everything to defeat him? Will they try to character assassinate him as they tried with Palin? Will real left-wing violence follow him around (as Palin’s former church was torched following Prop 8 in CA)? Many considerations.

  10. Sean,

I was going to try my own snarky term, but I bow before the master. Well played.

Thank you, that’s what I’ve been trying to say. It seems like no one wants their high dampened. What proof do you have that Hoffman will do what he says he will do when he has no record to show it? You had plenty of proof for/against Obama. It seems with Hoffman (I don’t see the same issue with Corzine, etc) you are so willing to take him at his word like libs who believed Obama was a moderate
