Scozzafava Proves She is a Democrat After All

No principles.

No respect.

No honor.

Just a simple lust for power.

  1. From The Hill:

The Republican in a New York House race that has become a symbol of the divisions within the GOP endorsed her former Democratic rival Sunday, a sharp snub to the third-party conservative who forced her out of the race.

Scozzafava went down like a lead sinker, saw the handwriting on the wall and quit the race. Dan noted in a previous post:

If Dede Scozzafava had put some significant distance between herself and the President’s free-spending Democrats, she would not have seen rank-and-file Republicans desert her in droves.

So Scozzafava now endorses the Democrat. Let me get this straight. Are we supposed to discuss whether the Republican Party missed a terrific opportunity to be a “big tent” party and find a way to keep Scozzafava and her clingers feeling loved? Scozzafav is a two-time loser: she dropped out of the race and she fouled her nest.

Scozzafava was hand-picked by Republican district chairmen. It looks like the Republican Party in NY-23 needs a serious inter-party feud if not civil war. And Newt needs to have a serious come to Jesus meeting with himself. His pontification on the propriety of backing Scozzafava and how much in accord he was with what Reagan would have done, blah, blah, blah just reminds me of what a propensity he has for being a gasbag.

  2. Nationaljournal.com reports:

Assemb. Dede Scozzafava (R) may be crossing party lines to support atty Bill Owens (D), but her now ex-mgr Matt Burns isn’t going along with that decision. “Dede is entitled to her own opinion, as is everyone, but I obviously disagree with her decision,” Burns told us today, a day after leaving the campaign. “I am supporting Doug Hoffman, because denying Nancy Pelosi another foot soldier is vital to restoring fiscal responsibility and common sense in Washington.”

You can’t run away from stink any faster than that. I think brother Burns finds himself taking a Clorox shower and getting plenty out on the record that Dede is doing dumbdumb all by her lonesome.

heliotrope, I believe the cleansing procedure you’re referring to is called “The Full Silkwood.”
    Lather.
Scrape Off Every Living Epidermal Cell From Head To Toe.
Sink Slowly To Shower Floor, Sobbing Bitterly For 5-10 Minutes.
    Rinse.
    Repeat.

  5. I wasn’t surprised she dropped out but I was stunned she endorsed the Democrat.

To be honest, I really really think both parties are going to be stunned and shocked in 2010 and 2012.

  9. I thought Newt was a foundation conservative, died in the wool. And was stunned when he turned his back on those principles.

  10. Gene, I used to defend Newt… but his support for Scorhoweverthehellyouspellhername and for Crist in Florida, for the next generations’ Specters and Snowes, really was a bridge too far.
There’s a litmus test for politicians, to show that they’ve passed their sell-by date: If you spot them using a phrase similar to, “If the voters of my party are unhapy with its leadership, then they must be wrong ” , you know it’s a mistake to vote for them anymore.
