I’m with TGC, I wont believe it til I see it voted down. In fact, I trust that even if it is voted down, the radical extremists who lead the Democrat party will continue trying to revive it, trying to sneak it through, as long as they remain in power.

Controlling Americans health care is their “holy grail”. They will continue trying to pass it in one way or another until they lose power, and if Republicans take over they will do everything in their power to block ANYTHING that brings freedom and choice into health care. (As they blocked tort reform and buying care across state lines under Bush)

Zombies are less obsessed with brains than “progressives” are obsessed with getting control over our health decisions.

It isn’t dead yet, Pelosi is doing her best to pass it this weekend. What she learned from the election this week is that the American people can’t be trusted and it is imperative to screw us here and now.
She couldn’t care less how many Dems lose their seats in 2010, once this bill passes we become like Europe, sucking at the teet of government and that means the Dems in control for a very long time.

heliotrope is right. But there is another element, one of pathology and incapacity. The Left cannot do anything other than what they’re doing. They cannot pass legislation that will lead to job creation. They cannot offer tax breaks to businesses. They cannot free up capital for investors. They cannot “reform” or “change” anything in the direction of greater latitude and freedom for the producers of society. They cannot do anything but what they’re doing: package age-old freedom-crushing means of state control within euphemistic proposals and launch constant attacks of hate against all who raise voice aganst them. So what we have now is Leftism caught in a crucible: how do they institutionalize their morbid and stifling statism fast enough to irreparably discredit capitalism and demoralize enough of the populace into resignation to the historic inevitability of the State before time runs out on them.

President Obama and congressional Democrats… would do well to ditch health care as an issue and focus on legislation designed to create jobs.

What on earth is that? How does government create jobs, or bring about net job increases in the economy, other than by *repealing* previous government acts that effectively prevent economic growth and job creation?

“Stimulus” doesn’t count: any jobs “created” are stolen from elsewhere in the economy (as the government taxes, borrows, prints money from thin air, etc. to pay for the alleged “stimulus”).

Follow the money.

Obamacare will raise huge tax revenues immediately. There will be no Obamacare outlays until 2013 and after.

The revenues raised from passage until 2013 will count toward reducing the deficit. They will be spent on all sorts of pork and pet projects.

This is not about healthcare, it is about opening a new treasure chest and going on a spending spree.

When Obamacare kicks in, the already empty coffers will be fueled by IOU’s issued from its inception. The treasury will sell bonds and the FED will buy the bonds and the bureau of printing and engraving will throw the presses into devalued currency overdrive.

For Democrats it is NOT about the children or because they “Can’t Stop Thinkin’ About Tomorrow.” It is all about power and more walking around money.

Vote the bums out — all of them — leave not a single one sitting in Congress — that’s about the only way we can be sure it is dead legislatively. Yes, Republicans too. Then to make sure it doesn’t rear it’s ugly statist head again we perhaps need a simple constitutional amendment:

“The federal government shall not create, own, operate or manage in any way an entity which competes with non-government for profit or non-profit companies, or engage in any profit making enterprise for the production of any good or service, or own stock or other debt instruments of any kind in any private enterprise, nor shall it regulate by law or rule any hiring or firing of personnel in a private profit or non-profit enterprise.”

A little draconian, but that might be the stake through the heart; or something mighty close to it.

I hope that it will die very soon. I hope that more people learn about the details in the Pelosi proposal and that they will make sure that Pelosi gets the message that what she proposes is totally ludicrous… and unworkable… and unconstitutional…. (hey I am not even a US citizen and I recognize that it is not constitutional)
