GALLUP: Majority of Americans Say Healthcare Is NOT the Government’s Reponsibility
Ruh-roh, Comrades Obama & Pelosi. The independent, freedom & liberty loving Americans are showing their muscles again….
More Americans now say it is not the federal government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage (50%) than say it is (47%). This is a first since Gallup began tracking this question, and a significant shift from as recently as three years ago, when two-thirds said ensuring healthcare coverage was the government’s responsibility.
The more America hears about Pelosi/Obamacare, the less they like it.

UPDATE (from Dan): No wonder Gallup shows Republicans edging ahead of Democrats in 2010 Vote, with independents swinging decisively away from the Democrats. So Miss Nancy may have scored a big victory n Congress last weekend, but polls show her party are her policies are losing favor with the American people.

Bruce, that is huge!
Two-thirds thinking healthcare coverage was the federal government’s responsibility? A sign of disaster, what I call “America’s date with socialism”.
Support coming down to 47% (or 50% against)? A sign of hope. You could say, Obama has brought us hope.
I think the economy has something to do with it. We have been living in a dreamworld economically speaking, the last 10-11 years with the dot-com bubble and then the real estate bubble. Support for Democrats and socialism (which never work in reality) are part of that. Perhaps some people now are figuring out that in fact, they are lucky just to have jobs and to be living in a rich country. And we haven’t even had the second wave of the financial crisis yet. (coming, probably in 2010)

I suspect many (thinking) people are looking at the mess the Guv’ment’s made of the Seasonal and H1N1 Flu vaccine program and don’t want that same level of ‘efficiency’ applied to their family’s health care. **shudder**
Plus, I think the ever-escalating cost-projections are spooking the public…especially facing the already massive deficits projects for the next several years.

Speaking as someone who probably a cadillac plan, I worked hard for that plan.
I do not want anyone taking it away or fining me for having it. Hard work is what got me this plan. Others who do not have a good healthcare should try it.

All any thinking person has to do to know that government (particularly Obama’s government) shouldn’t have anything to do with healthcare is remember three words: cash for clunkers. I wouldn’t let Obama, Pelosi, Reid, or any of those other f-ing clowns program my DVR.

It does not work anyway. My Australian experience has been an increase in the out of pocket expenses to more than 100% since this horrid scheme was introduced.

ROFL@TGC, I was going to say something similar the other day, “Oh, it’s gonna be a short-short decade for the delusional demon-rat democrats”

Unfortunately for all of us, as ILC has pointed out, the American people do not get to define the purposes of their own institutions, so the fact that the majority of Americans dont think it is governments role to provide health care to everyone is irrelevant. The fact that the constitution limits the powers of government is irrelevant. Only ILC can define institutions’ purposes, with his omnipotent understanding of “reality”
ILC, would you please enlighten the American people to what the purpose of government is in this regard? And please define all relevant terms for us so that we may understand their REAL meaning, since we now know, once again thanks to you, that dictionaries lie.

AE, are you trying to suggest, in your roundabout twisted way, that health care *is* a legitimate purpose of the federal government? Or did you simply attach your comment to the wrong thread?

Also, kindly point out where I have ever said, thought or suggested that “the American people do not get to define the purposes of their own institutions”.

When YOU claimed that “dyads” were the “essential purpose” of marriage, but were unable to cite ANY marriage statute that said so.

Also, when you claimed that the phrase “nuclear family” does not mean a mother and father and their children, but includes gay couples despite being contradicted by a dozen dictionaries which explicitly defined a nuclear family as a mother, father and their children.

Also, when you claimed two men can reproduce with each other.
Comment by American Elephant — November 13, 2009 @ 6:55 pm - November 13, 2009
But that has nothing to do with whether Americans are allowed to define marriage. I think they should be allowed to, and have said so time and again.
Also – as I suspected, you’ve brought your nasty dishonesty into the wrong thread. This thread has nothing to do with marriage.
Comment by ILoveCapitalism — November 13, 2009 @ 6:59 pm - November 13, 2009
Of course, what I actually did was: use the phrases like “gay nuclear family” or “gay-headed nuclear family”, neologisms along the lines of “gay marriage”. So sorry you can’t accept that.
Comment by ILoveCapitalism — November 13, 2009 @ 7:00 pm - November 13, 2009
No actually, you got very huffy and demanded that gays couples ARE nuclear families too, and then you bitched and moaned when I posted a dozen dictionary definitions proving you wrong yet again.
Indeed, you tried to use a dictionary definition of extended family to show that nuclear families really meant gay people too, except the very dictionary you were quoting defined a nuclear family as a mom a dad and their children.
Once again you lie your ass off.
You truly are pathetic. Please stop humiliating yourself.
