A good disaster movie can be loads of fun, but Hollywood has a penchant for turning them into crap with father-daughter teams landing spaceships on asteroids, and presidents flying fighter planes into spaceships…

The second half of Titanic was very good, The original Poseidon adventure was good… there must be others?

I read the plot of 2012 at wikipedia. It’s… to put it charitably… thoroughly retarded. Some kind of solar flare makes the continents start drifting all over the place. The rich and powerful get on giant arks to wait out the catastrophe, and then start rebuilding in Capetown South Africa.
