Looks like the thrill has found its way to Larry King’s leg
Well, the thrill may no longer be running up Chris Matthews’ leg, but over at CNN, his less partisan counterpart, seems to have gotten whatever thrill the MSNBC host lost. Just got back from doing cardio at the gym and was treated to three-quarters of an hour of breathless coverage of President Obama’s first state dinner honoring India’s Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh.
Sally Quinn, fresh from questioning Sarah Palin’s faith on the O’Reilly Factor and on her blog, was gushing over the First Lady’s dress. Her eyes lit up and she became animated when Larry King gave her the chance to talk about Mrs. Obama’s wardrobe. “This is high fashion!” ”What a striking woman!” ”Jackie O has met her match!”
Then, they brought on Neeam Khan, the man who designed the dress for this most divine woman. ”Oh what a gift to humanity you are!” gushed Ms. Sally. ”That you have it within you to clothes worthy of this striking woman!” ”Clearly you must be the first man to design the peplos for the next Panathenaia!”
Wonder if Larry ever so convered a state dinner during the George W. Bush years and if ever brought on the designer of any of Laura’s dresses while having a Republican partisan coo over the excellence of that classy First Lady’s attire.

Argh! When the Bushes entertained, the MSM mocked them. Personally, I think Laura Bush had much better fashion sense and genuine natural style than Michelle Obama….who’s trying too-hard to be “Michelle O.”

Someone must have given Michelle a gift card from The Gap. It was a step up, but hardly haute couture. I bet she jumped back into sweats and curlers when the dinner ended.

Well, considering the frocks that First Lady Laura Bush wore, it would be a pretty boring episode of Larry King Live if they talked about what she wore. First Lady Michelle Obama is a dignified, intelligent woman who is a smart dresser and fashion officianato. If the only thing conservatives have to complain about regarding Michelle Obama is her wardrobe, then all is good in the world! Please leave the First Lady alone and let’s talk about more important matters in the world.

For a window treatment, maybe.

More like Scarlett Ohara has met her match in someone who wears something they “saw in the window”.

My friends at Hillbuzz liked the dress. From the point of view that the colour suited Michelle, the dress itself was not that great.
She is no match for Jackie O. Jackie knew how to dress and look good always. Michelle has a disgusting fashion sense.

First Ladies always have a signature style of their own…. The classy ones bring it with them to 16OO, the cows if they’re lucky, have it fall in their lap while living in the White Castle …. Hillary wears pant suits now cause as 1st lady she got called out on her prosciutto ankles, and if she’d won the election you can bet your ass the gal would have worn a tuxedo to her Inaugural Balls…. Nancy Reagan didn’t get the idea to wear red after she saw the look on the the faces of all the cryin liberals when her hubby kicked Carter’s ass…. not to mention the grande dame already had a closet full of haute couture before she ever left California. I know I can’t mention the Mister without bringing up his Misses, but what can I say about Rosalyn other than she’s the wife of a peanut farmer and dressed like one … For God’s sake they ate PB&J sandwiches on a regular basis…and bragged about it too…… Now we have Michelle my Belle, she has found her style alright…. and she wears the same style of gown all the time…. Its the only fit that will camouflage those child baring hips and high rider of hers…. Trust me, the next tent she’s in will be a dark colored gown, cause it’ll be the dead of winter and cold as hell. I gotta laugh when I hear people slobbering over Mrs Obama…. especially when they call her a beauty and compare her style and grace to that of Jackie O. …Why can’t they leave the dead to rest in peace….Jackie O must be turning in her grave…..

um, Michael K, leave the First Lady alone? Did you read the post? It’s about how Sally Quinn was gushing all over her? And Larry King devoting nearly his whole show to the dinner.
I do hope you address your concerns to Mr. King and Ms. Quinn.

By the way, wrapping a steel-belted radial tire around a J Crew dress is NOT “smart dressing”. Laura Bush was always beautiful, dignified and elegant. Michelle makes some good choices, and can look very nice, but she has already had more than her share of fashion disasters, ranging from very undignified to entirely inappropriate.
Michelle’s dress was beautiful, if a little ornate considering the simple traditional sari worn by the Prime Minister’s wife. It was also unfortunate that she was bursting out of it the entire evening. The first rule of honoring someone is to focus attention on them, not draw it to yourself — a concept Michelle clearly does not get. Indeed, neither does her husband since his humiliating toast was basically, “how lucky you are to have me honor you”. The papers in India are already horrified, asking the same question the rest of the world seems to be asking — basically, who the hell does this guy think he is???.

Time Magazine bashes Bush years as ‘Decade from Hell,’ but says the coming decade will be wonderful because of Obama.
Bias much?

The Liberals spend, spend, and spend (our money, of course). Who gives a darn about fashion when people are suffering; losing jobs and homes. $200 haircuts and buying clothes from top designers. It’s astounding just how phony they are.

Ya know, I was watching Million Dollar Listing the other night. One of those queers was proud of himself for spending $600 on a haircut. I’d be too embarrassed to admit I was stupid enough to pay that kind of money.
But then since I’ve been shaving my head, I haven’t paid for a haircut in 5 years.

#14: V – I liked this: if you lived in China or Brazil, not a bad decade. But here in the United States, it was kind of tough.. Yea – life in a Brazil favela or Chinese prison would be great compared to life as a scribbler at Time magazine.
I wonder what their take on things will be once Time finally goes toes-up.
Some of our current problems do have their roots in the Bush years but once Obama is finished, the Bush years will look like Good Times.
