And I bet 99 per cent of the people can't name the city either but they know all about the Bridge to Nowhere (except TGC who knows that it IS KTN). Since the city is located on a side of a very steep mountain and no place for an airfield it was built on an island across a narrow very choppy and sometimes dangerous channel especially for small boats. When the bridge was first proposed, it was estimated to cost 3 million. What percentage of the national budget is that? Besides the bridge could be built by Alaskans themselves if the corrupt Congress in Washington kept their noses out of Alaska and let them develop their resources.
