The idiot, I’m afraid, is you.

I do not buy things based on celebrity endorsements. I, however, reserve the right not to buy a product because it helps to promote the absurd cult of celebrity. These are the points I was making. I grant they were implied rather than explicitly stated, but I fail to see how what I wrote prompted you to jump to the conclusion you made.

Perhaps you are the simpleton you accuse me of being. So I will spell the matter out more exactly:

Woods has earned more than one billion dollars in compensation; 90% of that has come from endorsements. (From this we can conclude that earning about $100,000,000 from devoting himself to the playing of golf was insufficient for him.) And how did he get all these endorsements? By cultivating a public image which we now know to be false. I see no reason to reward either him or any company that will stick by him for his doing so.

I hope now that I have explained myself in a simple enough way for you to understand, heliotrope.

PS: If you’ve paid any attention to the comments I’ve made here at GayPatriot you should know I’m not inclined to do anything based on Al Gore’s recommendations.

I wish it weren’t the top issue in the news. My expectations from these ‘superstars’ is zero. Marriage is the one part of their lives where the demands are no different on them than on any other Joe Schmo. And unlike the average Joe, it is the rare one who doesn’t fail at marriage.

Of course I am super cynical, Tiger needs his wife to stay around and ‘forgive’ him, otherwise many of those big endorsements go bye-bye.
To me it appears that is more important to him.
It would be nice if big advertising could find another way of promoting their products. Until then, there is was one industry that made alot of money off him because he was so ‘wholesome’. Now another industry, the tabloids are grabbing their share.
Maybe it’s just capitalism at work.

I’m disappointed in Tiger (he seems like a classy guy) but in the great scheme of things, it’s a nullity.

Given all that’s facing the country, the media sure seem to spend a lot of time on things that don’t matter (Tiger Woods, White House party crashers).

This is kind of ridiculous to keep talking about this considering the problems our country faces. But for me, if Tiger Woods had beaten up on his wife, he would most definitely be jail right now. I see a double standard here. His wife had no business hitting him the way she did. No matter is philandering. She handled this badly, spousal abuse is not right. Period.
