Guess it helps when you can get your own message out without the active interference of the mainstream media, well, with greatly reduced interference. I mean, during her book tour, the media isn’t letting up, just not attacking her with the ferocity of their campaign coverage last fall. If any of the internet news aggregators offer headlines about the former Alaska Governor, they tend to be critical of that accomplished reformer.
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll (which tends to lean Democratic) released earlier today found that
Americans are split on Palin, with 46 percent saying they have a favorable opinion of her and an equal amount saying they have an unfavorable view of last year’s Republican vice presidential nominee.
Looks like she’s doing just a tad better than the president. The current pollster average has 48.4% of Americans disapproving of the job he’s doing with only 47.8% approving:
Wonder what his numbers would look like if the media treated him as they do her.
UPDATE: Come to think about it, maybe I should have picked a different title. While Palin’s poll numbers are on an upward trend, Obama’s are heading south. Not quite parallel that.
Funny thing…most of the really sexist remarks I’ve heard made about Sarah Palin have come from the enlightened and compassionate Left. Not a day goes by that we don’t hear what a ditzy, dizzy broad she’s supposed to be.
Just like the racist cracks we frequently hear them level at Republican Party chief Michael Steele.
I guess homophobia’s not off-limits for them, either. After all, they CARE so much, and they’re such GOOD people.
Gee Dan, let me see here – how long have you been opining about politics? And you are telling me that you totally innocently don’t know the difference between favorability ratings and job approval ratings?
46% have a favorable opinion of Palin, the numbers for Obama in the 4 most recent polls are 50,52,56, and 61. Thats about 9 points behind Sarah. And she, of course, has shed any responsibilities and is just doing PR appearances. Whats not to like?
“Thats about 9 points behind Sarah”
9 points ahead of Sarah, of course…
How sad is it that liberals can’t destroy her any more than that and can’t elevate Bareback Obama any more than that.
As I mentioned in earlier posts, I vividly remember the same pattern during the Carter administration. Carter won and even though he didn’t run against Reagan, the mass media insisted on bashing Reagan every chance they had. When Carter won, the media also insisted parading the usual “conservatism in America is dead” pundits.
But the one thing the media could not do was explain away Carter’s lousy job performance, which got progressively worse as his term went on. His domestic and foreign policies were seen for the debacles that they were. During that time Reagan’s popularity grew due to Carter’s bumbling and in part to the media’s insistence on keeping Reagan in the public eye as public enemy number one. I had friends here in New York City who insisted that Reagan would make America an arctic region covered with ice due to his pro-capitalist global cooling policies and/or start nuclear armageddon (whichever came first.)
As American’s trust in Obama’s failed policies as well as their trust in the media deteriorates, and the media’s psycho-sexual obsession with Palin escalates, they may unintentionally put her in the White House. It’s happened before. I’ve seen it.
Hmm, Rasmussen gives him a rating of -14, in the strongly approve vs strongly disapprove catagory.
Now insert Tano’s bleating that Rasmussen is biased, since he doesn’t want to risk total protonic reversal (HT Jonah Goldberg for the reference)
As Tano so brilliantly points out, Palin is sailing along just fine without any media help.
As Tano further points out, Palin is not running for Messiah and her common sense solutions are winning followers who understand the clarity of her message and are more than ready to cram hopenchange in a box and deep six it.
As Tano clearly states, Obama is floundering in his dithering and hiding from transparency.
I am particularly interested in Tano’s animated discussion of how Obama has come around to the Bush strategy in Afghanistan.
I do agree with Tano that Tiger Woods has an image problem.
Don’t you just love how the left attacks Ms. Palin, but neglects to mention that Obama is not a citizen, therefore not eligible to be president, plus, one of his best friends is a convicted terrorist, and his favorite preacher damns America, and Obama’s wife is not proud of her country, and Obama refuses to acknowledge the flag or the National Anthem, etc. What a bunch of wusses. The left is going to be left out come next election. God Bless America and all it’s good citizens who are not afraid to stand up to all the bullying coming out of the Oval Office.
Madalyn
You might have been looking for the word “mirror”. As Obama has fallen, she has risen.
And what a burn on you that is, Tano. How it makes you burn. Your fake Messiah has fallen to the point of being -only 9 points ahead of Palin- – and that is including the polls you like – and will fall lower still. And you know it.
Yo! Tano, Tanto and gillie:

So already down to 1 point ahead.
Not quite related, Why does President Obama hate free people?
#10, #11
Are you guys asleep or something? We went over this up in the earlier comments. Favorability ratings and job ratings are very different things. Obama’s favorability is higher than his JA, and roughly 9 pts. higher than Sarah.
And no ILCy, that doesnt burn me – it thrills me. Look, there is no need for silly trash talking and pissing games – we are all happy here. You got your lady, and I got my guy. We are both happy with them. I’ll see ya in 2012 – no problem….
So I see Obamateleprompter doing his daily TV thing. Talking about how well things are going and how he has cleaned up the mess he inherited.
Man is his teleprompter out of touch with reality. He gives an hour long speech on the economy and he coulnd’t look more bored. Another appearance where there was no applause. Just the liberal think tank at Brookings, like the troops at West Point looking bored. 10% unemployment and Obama talks about how well he turned things around. Any wonder why Obamas poll numbers have tanked, even the liberal biased gallop has him at 47% approval. The leftists in here have attacked Rasmusssen but gallop was only 30 days behind Rasmussens more accurate call of plunging poll numbers. Have another state dinner Mr President….
So let me get this straight….the last time Barack and Michelle visited Copenhagen they got 14 our of 94 votes for the Olympics, a rousing rout and embarassment for our young inexperienced President.
Now he revists the site of that humiliation for what purpose? He already promised to cut our energy usage and thus our economy by 17%…what more damage can he do?
#15, Give 10 Billion we don’t have?
So have Obamaphiles fallen so far as to have to argue Palins polls are not higher than Obamas?
And they’re response is….
“are not, are not”.
Did you hear how the first family, the Obamas were not going to have set up the traditional nativity scene in the blue room this year.
Yep but one of their aides who still is in touch with the American people, the Christian ones, said that might not be such a good idea with his polling numbers already plummeting. So they quickly dusted it off hopefully before the media found out. But obviously some Christian on the staff let independent Fox News know about the blunder.
Certainly not parallel paths. Mirror would be a better descriptor, but my mind goes back to Organic chemistry and the dreaded enantiomer. Stereoisomers, that is, molecular constructs that are mirror images, but non-superimposable. They are in fact exact opposites. Seems to fit the circumstance a little better, I think!
