Does David Frum Have a Problem with the “Little People”?
Writing earlier today about the censoring of an anti-Olympic mural in Vancouver, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Glenn Reynolds quipped, “The little people shall not be allowed to get in the way.”
Sounds like he just articulated David Frum’s problem with the GOP base, you know those Republicans whose concern for increasing government spending and exploding deficits, has forced Washington Republicans to obstruct the work of the current majority party in our nation’s capital. Recall how he inveighed last Wednesday against those citizens in in the hinterlands: ”But it’s the rank-and-file who are the problem here!”
Those little people who refuse to be silent do get in the way of the statist visions of representatives of the statist wings of America’s political parties.

This “little person” has done what a great many will do — I’ve struck out on my own to start my own business and fend for myself. I do this with no help from Uncle Sam, nor do I ask for any “help” except that Uncle Sam will leave me the hell alone and let me work for my own bread like any honest individual.
David Frum is an idiot. He has forgotten who really owns this country. It’s not the “big people” in the pocket of the State, but we little folks who do.
I was able to find an individual health insurance plan that costs me just under $100 a month. What the titans in Washington — those guardians of all goodness — want to do is force me to pay three times that much every year for State-mandated insurance. That is nothing short of theft. And all theft, all coercion, is violence.
Now the people with all the guns and the bombs — the ones with the power of taking away our property and locking us up — are to be depended upon for providing us with healthcare. Really, what’s not to love about that?

David Frum, as much as I still consider him part of the right (albiet the middle right) does forget that sometimes all the ‘book learnin’ doesn’t matter.
For more proof of that you need look no farther than our self described educated liberal posters who boast of degrees (Levi, tano, bob).
For all their booksmarts, all they can do is make catty insulting comments because the real world doesn’t match what their books say.
