Yes, the Democrats will run against George Bush again in 2010 and 2012.

Remember Walter Mondale ran against Ronald Reagan in 1984 and was painted at “Carter-Mondale”

We have two more years to live with it, unfortunately.

wait, following orwell? 1984 isn’t a positive vision of communism or any form of authoritarian leftist system. Newspeak, ingsoc, ociania are not ideas that Orwell championed. if anything, they’re defying orwell. olbermanns ‘worst person in the world’ is the clearest articulation of the two minute hate in society today, and whille it can be amusing, it is deeply troubling. Orwellian is not an adjective that describes something that Orwell supported.

On many issues, particularly linguistic issues, Orwell is profoundly conservative. He should be followed, regardless of party, as a man of letters with few rivals.

You can’t stop INGSOC, I mean the Democrats from the Two Minute hate on their Emmanuel Goldstein, I mean President George W. Bush (Or Palin or Lieberman, etc. et. al.)

I should note for those not old enough to remember, the Democrats have long figured that bashing a former President was a good strategy. I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, and Democrats then were still bashing Herbert Hoover, who left office in 1933.

Of course, there is some bashing on the Republican side — particularly with respect to Jimmy Carter, who now is in serious danger of losing the title “Worst President in My Lifetime.”

But that said, I do not remember either President Reagan or President Bush going into their first midterms bashing Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton. Instead, both Presidents were looking forward, not back.
