Arkansas Democrat Decries Provision She Voted For

Soon-to-be former Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark) “on Tuesday said a political deal that benefits Nebraska and may have clinched a lawmaker’s support for health care legislation should be removed from the bill“:

The Democratic senator from Arkansas said she was disappointed about a provision in the Senate’s health care bill that will require the federal government to permanently pay the entire cost of Medicaid expansion in Nebraska, while only paying the costs of expansion in the other 49 states for three years.

Um, Blanche, so, why, pray tell, did you vote for the provision?  You could have insisted it be removed before you voted for Harry Reid’s health care bill.

Seems like this lady says one thing in Arkansas and votes another way in Washington.

  1. Is anybody else getting all these Nebraska tourism commercials? Almost every commercial break. I’m wondering if the cash for that wasn’t part of the deal.

  3. Hi-larious. She honestly thinks a flip-flop AFTER SHE ALREADY VOTED FOR THE BILL WITH THE PROVISION IN IT is going to save her.

  4. These Dems are unbelievable!! Did they really think there would be no real world consequences to their votes??
I have sent money and hoping the Scott Brown pulls a rabbit out in Mass and wins that election.
    Change I can believe in.

  5. Hey, Ben Nelson now thinks Obama should not have done healthcare. Yup, our good Democrat Senator said in an interview today, “I think it was a mistake to take health care on as opposed to continuing to spend the time on the economy,”

While it appears that Nelson is trying to find some solid ground on which to step back onto with Nebraska voters, the Democrat still is living in a fantasy land when he claims that by holding out, he, Ben Nelson was able to get changes in the bill that “took a bad bill and made it better.”

    Really?

Senator Nelson still is not living in the reality that is now on the ground in Nebraska. As sure as we have snow on the ground and sub-zero wind chills, the great majority of Nebraskans are pissed off at Senator Nelson. And he is only compounding the issue with his insulting ad that is running day and night where he looks in the camera and says “I listened to you”. As my father would say , “The hell you did.”

It is becoming very clear to everyone but Ben Nelson that the recent decision by Byron Dorgan, Democrat Senator of North Dakota not to run for re-election is the fate that is awaiting one Ben Nelson unless he does something very dramatic to change the dynamic. Such an opportunity will present itself in the next few weeks in U.S. Senate . . .
