Good News for the Democratic Party (& the 112th Congress)

Chris Dodd won’t be running for reelection.  He’ll be announcing his retirement later today.  Democrats have the inside track of holding his Connecticut Senate seat, but with the large suburban population in the Nutmeg State (demographically similar to regions of New Jersey and New York State which swung to the GOP last fall), a fiscally conservative, socially moderate Republican has a chance.

  1. Blumenthal wins if he runs. Period.
    Odds he runs extremely high.

  2. Hey Tano…

I’d say you ass runs a higher chance of churning out a quart of butter milk before Blumenthal gets elected in Connecticut…. If you don’t believe me watch the video below for proof of what an idiot your touting.

Don’t say that. I have few doubts that he could.

  5. If Blumenthal is the best they can do, keep Dodd.

He uses the same level of Botox as Pelosi.

It’s a shame there aren’t any patriots in Connecticut any more.

  6. “before Blumenthal gets elected in Connecticut…”

Ahh, he already has been elected, state-wide, in CT, 5 times.

  7. How about that Connecticut red ink and the democrats in the assembly who will not face the deficit music? The democrat plan to tax, tax and tax some more should be really popular come November.

Blumenthal probably has the hearts and minds of voters in the nutmeg state all locked up. Everybody with a grain of sense knows that you have to tax and spend yourself into prosperity and that deeper deficits make the good times roll.

I wonder why Dodd lost all his traction? He sure looks like a senator.

  8. New polling out for CT

    “Blumenthal leads Rob Simmons (R), 59% to 28%, tops Linda McMahon (R), 60% to 28%, and beats Peter Schiff (R), 63% to 23%. ”

Yo Spartann, would you like a nice warm glass of buttermilk with that crow?

  9. Chris Dodd won’t be running for reelection.

I must admit, I figured Dodd to be a bit more of an egomaniac than that.

Exit question: Will Obama be bowing out of 2012, a la Lyndon Johnson?

  10. #9: “Exit question: Will Obama be bowing out of 2012, a la Lyndon Johnson?”

What? And give up the opportunity to frame his legacy as a brilliant idealist whose presumptive second term was stolen by racism when he loses? Not a chance!
