Smart Young Writer Exposes Oliver Stone’s Moral Relativism

January 12, 2010 by B. Daniel Blatt

If almost seems a certainty that if a public figure veers off into America-bashing conspiracy theories, he’s soon going to start apologizing for our enemies.  Usually, such apologetics focus on run-of-the-mill despots like Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, but occasionally spills over into full-blown defenses of Communism and even Islamofascism.

Rarely, however, have such self-haters shown sympathy for Adolf Hitler.

Until now.

According to a smart young writer, the “man who immortalized Che Guevara is off to set the record straight and correct the right-wing’s misinformation campaign about Hitler“:

In a new documentary series titled “Secret History of America,” Stoned says, “I’ve been able to walk in Stalin’s shoes and Hitler’s shoes to understand their point of view. We’re going to educate our minds and liberalize them and broaden them.”

Most of us know the man my nephew called Stoned as filmmaker/conspiracy theorist Oliver Stone.  So, if we, as Stone claims, “can’t judge people as only ‘bad’ or ‘good,’” guess that lets W off the hook?

Right, so even as the Left accuses George W. Bush of killing one million Iraqis in his illegal war for oil, Bush has done nothing wrong. It’s all… America’s?… fault.

Surely, Stone’s next project will be to walk in Bush and Cheney’s shoes and understand their point of view.  So, if you do want to educate your own minds, take a gander at my nephew’s column, it’s well worth your time.

Daniel, I must say that Mitchell is a very good writer. In fact he is excellent.

I’m just wondering how Stone’s going to blame Hitler on either Nixon or Bush.

From what Ive read, he’s going to blame Hitler on the evil corporations, particularly US corporations….(and probably Jews as well).

I’m actually giddy about this. Stone says what other liberals think but know better than to say. Lets not forget that American progressives LOVED and defended the power Hitler and Fascism were accumulating before it became clear what monstrous regimes they were.

I think conservatives should absolutely raise holy hell about the left defending Hitler and make sure it sticks like glue.

Yeah Dan and Mitchell, one of the funny things about the post-modern Left is their belief that there are no moral absolutes, only shades of gray… except that America is always and everywhere morally wrong.

As far as Stone’s comment (thanks Mitchell):

“Go into the funding of the Nazi party. How many American corporations were involved, from GM through IBM.”

Assuming for sake of argument that it’s true to the degree Stone says: Well, the same is true of the Obama Party today. The Wall Street firm of Goldman-Sachs gave overwhelmingly to Obama – and have managed to benefit from every bailout and other government intervention of his administration. Coincidence? No. It is entirely possible for corporations to be populated by socialists / fascists (but I repeat myself) and to be rewarded by neo-socialist / fascist governments that they give cover to. Economists call them “rent-seekers”. I call them “looters”.

(P.S. In case anyone is wondering: In real capitalism, other than enforcing criminal law and preventing criminal gangs from operating, the government stays totally out of the economy, letting corporations FAIL if that is what the free market decides. Rent-seeking looters are not capitalists. I believe in total separation of economics and State, or of business and State, for much the same reasons that we separate church and State.)

One thing that really bugs me about this….”Corporations” don’t give money to anyone. GM, Inc & IBM, Inc didn’t give anyone anything. If Stone were serious, he would look at who was running those companies when Hitler received that money. Which -individuals- were responsible for giving Hitler money in the name of those companies.

But no…he (likely) won’t do that.

Because we need to demonize faceless Corporations, and can not for a moment place responsibility on individuals.

Once upon a time, there was another Oliver Stone who wrote or co-wrote scripts forConan the Barbarian, Scarface, Platoon, and Wall Street, creating fasicinating characters and films.

    I miss that guy.
