Report from the Ground in the Bay State

January 15, 2010 by B. Daniel Blatt

Our inside the Bay State correspondent, a friend of mine who has migrated to the right in recent years, offers this report from the (frozen*) ground in the Bay State:

I’ve gotten auto-dial calls from both candidates in the last few days. I hung up on “Martha”, but the thing that kept me listening to “Scott” was that, at the outset of the call, “he” said my name!! Obviously it’s automated, but it was SLICK and he must have paid a pretty penny for that extra bit of database integration.

Well, without that moneybomb (to which our readers contributed), he may not have had that pretty penny.

Our correspondent promises more reporting as his schedule allows, but as a working guy with a family, he may not be able to report in as often as he would like and our readers would want.

*You know, the kind that Martha Coakley doesn’t like to touch, especially when it’s near stadiums beloved by her constituents.

I still think the race is hers to lose, but her recent “Catholics shouldn’t work in Emergency Rooms” gaffe is a doozy.

Quoth Mary Katherine Ham: “Coakley’s ears are so tin, you could make vintage, ironic lunchboxes out of them for Boston hipsters.”

I want to be the first to say it….
    BROWN/CHRISTIE 2012
    or
    BROWN /McDONNELL 2012

sweep the south and west and take half of the north east….
can’t wait to hear the liberals SQUEEL!

Brown has the momentum that is going to take him into the Senate seat. All their polls are taken in the eastern part of the state. The Boston Globe doesn’t go past Worcester. Western Mass. is very conservative. I’m friendly with both sides and they’re both saying it’s going to be Brown. My friends in Boston say its going to Brown and the ones in the western part of the state all say Brown.

OTOH, Obama is going to MA on Sunday, and I don’t think he’d be going if they didn’t have polling that made them think Coakhead could pull it out. It wouldn’t look good for him to be seen as the kiss of death… again…

He’s trying to get it close enough that the Black Panthers and SEIU gang can drag the body across the finish line.

#4 If Obamateleprompter had a magic touch…Chicago would have the Olympics, a Global warming treaty would have been signed in
Copen HAG en. Cornin in NJ would’nt have been kicked out of the Governors mansion and McDonel wouldn’t be the new gov of VA.
Everything Obama touches turns to TIN.
Coakleys polls have collapsed to the point where Obama can’t do any more damage. He’s just being a team guy. It’s the only card he has left to play.

I want Brown to win as much as the next Republican. There are many on our side who think he will be the nail in the coffin on the health care vote. Again I am one of those.

Has he stated his position on the health care bill at all? I have not seen or heard anything about this.

A Northeast/New England Republican is definitely a horse of different color compared to a Southern, mid-Western or Western Republican. They tend to be more “pliable”.

Someone made the point that the Democrats (resorting to scare tactics) are claiming if Brown is elected, it’s over for health care reform. Really? Is it? Does anyone believe the Democrats are going to pack up their toys and go home? Does anyone believe health care reform isn’t going to be pushed, in one form or another, regardless of the outcome of this election?

V the K, the Democrats are the like the Borg in Star Trek. They just keep coming and coming. When you think you know their weakness, they tweak it enough to keep you off balance and then they keep coming.

Obama on down to the MA sec of state will throw the kitchen sink at Scott Brown, he needs a comfortable to prevent a recount then the Democrats will drag out the certification.

They put Paul Kirk on the fast track when he took over as seat warmer after Kennedy passed.

#7 Scott Brown has said Obamacare would not be good for MA. And he would be the 41st vote against it!

Can the Dems in MA pull a Lautenberg/Torecelli and replace
Coakley with some one before Tuesday?

Brown and Giuliani had a great rally with the PEOPLE in the streets in North End of Boston. Coakley and Clinton on the other hand had a rally in the grand Ballroom of the Fairmont Copley Hotel with their politico friends. Once again Coakley refuses to shake hands with the PEOPLE of Massachusetts.

Was great to see Bill Clinton in Boston today. Wasn’t he the UN guy who was supposed to be helping Haiti? How much help did he provide Haiti today? I guess that’s why Obambi asked Dubya to help out with relief in Haiti, he knows how its done, unlike Clinton. And with the situation going from bad to worse in Haiti, what the hell is Obama doing in Mass on Sunday when he should be leading the relief effort. Priorities. Party over all, f**k anyone else.

It would be something like when Dr. Claw escapes at the end of every Inspector Gadget cartoon. ““I’ll get you next time, Gadget! NEXT TIME!!!” which was always hollow because he never did.

Tuesday will begin to tell the tale. No matter what the outcome, there is a huge monkey wrench clanging around inside the Democrat machine.

The machine boss is reduced to robo-calls and a return of Jimmy Carter starts to look preferable. Martha Coakley’s cooked goose is too dry and tough to be anything more than abrasive on the national palate, should she arrange her “election.”

Will the Democrats send in their “A” team: Pelosi, Schumer, Frank, Reid, Durbin, Biden, Leahy, Levin, Hastings, Waters, Frankin, Boxer, Michelle, and Specter?
