2008 Redux in Bay State?

January 18, 2010 by B. Daniel Blatt

Over at CampaignSpot, reporting polling showing Bay State bellwether communities breaking for Brown, Jim Geraghty includes commentary from pundits trying to spin the results:

Mike Barnacle says he’s not that surprised, citing that Brown’s appeal is “less about him being a conservative or Republican than against the existing order, against the establishment.”

Isn’t that kind of how Obama got elected way back in ’08?  Running against the then-existing order?

I don’t share the optimism. Sorry, I just can’t believe that a state that so hates the rest of the United States to send Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Barney Frank, and Gerry Studds to Congress is going to suddenly turn around and not elect another far-left, Democrat hack.

Mr. Barnacle neglected to mention that a Brown win would not only be “unprecedented” it would also be “historic”.

Let’s face it–we all just want Brown to win so we can buy the new Senate calendar. Maybe they can get a shot of him and Thune playing basketball. For the Skins team.

If Barnacle mentioned that Brown’s win would be “unprecedented” and “historic,” he’d be sure to slant that as a negative. Like, “Brown’s win would be as unprecedented and as historic as the earthquake in Haiti. And the aftermath would be similar,” sadly, head hung low and shaking slowly.

It’s *possible*, in my mind, that Dems are playing up Brown’s prospects so that they can claim a mandate from ObamaCare from Coakley’s eventual win.

Anyway, I’m hopeful but I don’t want my hopes up too much. Like V, I’ll believe it when I see it.

I believe the main reason Brown is being promoted is only to block O-care. I would not mind that, but there will still be people uninsured out there (like me). What will the Reps do if and when they block O-care, ’cause the uninsured issues will be brought back front and center.

And the unions are against one of the version of O-care, I think the Senate, because it taxes their plans. If the unions *are* going to pull back from Coakley and let Brown in, that might be why. The police unions in MA have endorsed Brown.

Though I would be thrilled with a Brown win, I am worried that the very influential Massachusetts League of Deceased Voters will turn out for Ms. Coakley in a big way.

Not to worry about the unions. Surely you’ve heard that Obama and Congress have agreed to exempt the cadillac health care plans from taxation IF they’ve been won in collective bargaining. Check, unions satisfied (and smiling big).

Rachel, it’s a shame you’re uninsured, but don’t worry. If ObamaCare passes, you will be required to buy health insurance.

If the Republicans had been allowed to offer any suggestions, they might have offered a tax credit for your health insurance, a refundable tax credit (even if you paid no taxes, you’d be reimbursed for your health insurance costs) if you’re too poor. Of course, if you’re too, TOO poor, you could apply for Medicaid.

But that tax credit would NOT have taken your health insurance decisions out of your hands and put them in the hands of Nancy and Harry and Barack and thousands of nameless, faceless bureaucrats, so the Dems refuse to consider that. The ultimate purpose of ObamaCare is that The Government have complete control of your health care decisions.

Mike Barnacle, is just a nicer version of Ed Schultz…. but none the less still an insidious SOB…. Last week he was in the camp of “No Way Is Brown Gonna Win”. So where did his sudden awareness of the electorate come from? Democrats are bailing on Coakley as fast as they can…… but I’m enjoying the they look with all the egg stuck to their faces.

Speaking of MSNBC’s Ed Schultz…have a listen to the rat bastard:

#10: “Rachel, it’s a shame you’re uninsured, but don’t worry. If ObamaCare passes, you will be required to buy health insurance.”

Or alternatively, Rachel, if you don’t comply with the government mandate to purchase insurance, they’ll just throw you in jail where you’ll receive the excellent healthcare provided to all inmates by some of the finest physicians ever to graduate from South America’s respected medical schools. So, either way, you’ll be covered.

#6 Obama and the Dems have been in complete control all year. I too along with my 240 employees were looking forward to our FREE health care from Obama. It would be hard to blame any Republican since the doopey liberals haven’t delivered.

It’s been a long time since I watched more than 5 minutes at a time of MSNBC. But conservatives, if you want to be entertained, switch over. The hosts over there…..well their heads are about to EXPLODE!!! How entertaining.
Can’t wait for tuesday nite. Hopefully Scott Brown will win and he will win early and we can all watch the catastrophy play out in the studios of MSDNC. If you remember election nite, back in Novermber of 2009….As Republicans won sweeping victories in VA then NJ, the head political hosts, just left their studios and went home. I think at 10pm they were forced to play a re run of the 6 oclock hour. Hopefull, tuesday they will stick around and give us great theatre.
Who want’s to see Olbermanns and Matthews and Shusters heads EXPLODE?????

Coakley is very unpopular and she has done things that have turned people against her… It will be close.
