Speaking of the insufferable, elitist douche bag Chuck Schumer, who could forget his stirring argument in favor of reviving the Fairness Doctrine--pornography is "speech" and we regulate that, so we should regulate talk radio too. Worthless.

It would be tough sledding. I left New York State three weeks after he was first elected. (Actually, I worked on Al D'Amato's campaign.)

The people in New York adore Chuck Schumer! Anyone who thought otherwise, like me, just packed up and left.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but we'll see a thriving Haiti before we see another thriving Empire State.

Best wishes,
-MFS

Most people think Gillibrand is the easier to senator to pick off, and that would be tough enough. But flipping both of NY's senate seats in one year? That's delusional. Sort of like thinking we'd elect a Republican senator to replace Ted Kennedy.

If we could win a seat in Massachusetts, one in Connecticut, and two in New York (and presumably a decent number in less surprisingly places, like Nevada, North Dakota, Colorado, and Indiana) and flip the House at the same time, would 2010 be the GOP's best year ever?

Anyway, here's hoping that November 2 is a lot like January 19. Best way to make that happen? Run fiscally conservative, government-is-not-the-solution-government-is-the-problem Republicans everywhere. Some of them should be social conservatives, some, not so much. One can't say that being socially conservative or socially moderate is a net plus in general; it depends too much on the state/district. The common thread that I think should run through all candidates is a push back against the big government liberalism AND the big government conservatism that have plagued America for a number of years now.
