Climate scientist William Sprigg delivered a bold challenge to his fellow climate scientists in a blockbuster address to EUEC 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona on February 2.
Sprigg, an adjunct research professor in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics at the University of Arizona, led the technical review of the first global warming report issued by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 1990.
In his address to the Thirteenth Annual Energy and Environment Expo, Sprigg took on the ClimateGate scandal and called for “serious reforms” of the global scientific community. He warned of a growing perception that “the IPCC is biased, conflicted, [and] pushing political agendas.”
Sprigg called for a new climate research agency supported not entirely by the government, but in conjunction with the private sector.
“We need to stick to our scientific principles,” Sprigg said, referring at least in part to the critical importance of sharing data with other scientists so that hypotheses and methodologies can be checked and double-checked. “We need to improve our peer preview process, and expand the stakeholders’ role to keep us all honest.”

It is February, not March.
It is winter. It snows in winter.
An increase of less than a degree Celcius in average global temperature over a century does not mean that there will no longer be snow storms in February.
Or are you just snarking on Drudge?

Weren’t we told several years ago that rivers and oceans would be boiling in ten years? Weren’t we told about mass migrations of people and animals to northern climes due to the heat? If we have to believe that, doesn’t it follow that we shouldn’t see snow anymore?
It sure doesn’t follow when central Florida freezes for several days.

My pleasure Bruce – always glad to help you out.
Now, lets talk a bit about what seems to be your assumption here – that somehow the amount of snowfall correlates with global warming or something.
You do realize, doncha, that the colder the temperature, the less moisture there can be in the atmosphere. Which means less snowfall. So, if anything, as our climate gets warmer, one might predict that there will actually be more snow during winter – at least so long as the warming isn’t big enough to push temps up to make the precip into rain. But GW is only predicting a few degrees over the next century, so that wont be an issue in most of the US,
So, interestingly enough, if this weather system were to be evidence of anything related to global warming (which it isn’t) it would actually be more consistent with a warming than a lack of warming.
But you knew that, right? You just making fun of Drudge (I know, the flashing light should have tipped me off…)
GP Ed. Note: And you do realize, TtheT, that AGW data case has been completely ripped to shreds by the scientists who made the science secondary to their and your political agenda. AGW is a hoax and Carbon Credits are a Ponzi scheme. You need to keep up with current events, bro.

The Snowpocalypse is here!!! Everyone do your patriotic duty and run to store to clean out all their the milk, bread, eggs and toilet paper!!! That’s the tradition here in the DC Metro Area and to forsake our traditions is simply un-American. It also means that the terrorists will have won. Was listening to Laura Ingraham earlier – sounds like DC residents are duly panicking… no bread or milk on the shelves, traffic lined up in the streets to get into the grocery stores to grab the last cans of lima beans and potted meat product.
Tano – I do have some understanding of AGW and it is a hoax built on mounds of fabricated and cherry-picked data with conclusions drawn by rent-seeking “scientists” and corporations – not to mention gummint apparatchiks salivating over the prospect of yet another bureaucracy to lord over the ignorant proles.
What Bruce is alluding to (I think) is the tendency of the AGW faithful to use every bad storm, heat wave, dry spell, and rainy weekend as evidence of a crisis that has to be solved, spare no expense, right this minute.

Warming has happened many times, just like cooling has. And will happen again. And again.

6: Since our system of government is still based on “We The People” (in theory at least), I’d suggest something more than a condescending attitude to bolster your argument. After all, you are asking us to foot the bill to the tune of trillions of dollars for this pet theory and whining because the case for AGW lacks convincing scientific proof doesn’t endear your cause to many. Don’t forget: we also have the vote and will respond accordingly.

Well sure, the fact of the rise doesn’t by itself establish the cause. But the rate of increase is not explainable by natural causes, and is explainable by the greenhouse effect.

Obviously. It is, of course, climate scientists who have provided the data such that you know that. The same scientists, using the same data sources and models, that you try to discredit.

Actually, the warming can be explained by mostly natural causes. The Sun, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, a massive El Nino in 1998, increases in methane from volcanic activity in the Mid Atlantic Trench, a low amount of water vapor in the atmosphere, among others. Why have the poles on Mars been melting? No SUVs there.
Further, the reduction of monitoring stations in colder weather areas, such as Siberia and the Arctic, along with ones that are in non-optimal areas, and ones that are in areas that are subject to the Urban Island Affect, plus others, can make it appear as if the entire climate is warming, rather than false and/or higher readings that are not appearing outside those areas. Why have areas outside the urban zone shown a decrease in average temps, otherwise known as (part of) what climate is, over the past 50+ years?
Furthermore, if the computer models (garbage in, garbage out) were correct, we would not be seeing a flat lining and reduction in average temps, what with CO2 continuing to go up. The Earth has had higher temps with lower CO2 amounts, and cooler temps with higher CO2.

Actually, they don’t.
For example, we know about the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age, which demonstrated convincingly rapid cooling and warming trends.
The IPCC ignored that data because it wasn’t convenient, and climate “scientists” specifically set out to eliminate it from their models.
Your problem is, Tano, you simply don’t have any comprehension or knowledge of science. You simply repeat the talking points provided you by your Obama Party, who depends on “scientists” like Al Gore to do “study” for them.

What about the mini ice age we’re suppose to be heading towards? I was watching the Weather Channel last night and sure enough, they brought up the fact that despite all the snow, global warming still exists. I got on their site today and wrote a comment. I wrote that just because they, MSM, and most cable channels aren’t telling us about what’s happening, as Scott Brown just recently said: “People aren’t stupid”. We’re finding out the truth on reputable sites and blogs like this.

As I was walking down Market Street in Philadelphia on the 21st of March 2007, freezing my butt off with ice and snow on the sidwalk, I heard a vagrant say, ¨Global warming is a myth.¨It makes me think that the homeless can give a better assessment that all of Al Gore´s pseudoscientists.

Not speaking for Bruce, but, climate is what weather helps create, as climate is simply the averages of what weather does. Average temp, humidity, precipitation, etc.
Personally, I know that as soon as someone tries that tactic, they have no clue what the debate is about, and have just drunk Al Gore’s kool aid.
