Did Scott Brown Rescue New York City?
Let’s explore the law of unintended consequences. The monstrous Obamacare National Healthcare Takeover wasn’t the only casualty of US Sen. Scott Brown’s (R-MA) election. The dropping out of Patrick Kennedy is another obvious one, sure. And I’m also positive there will be many Democrats running into the arms of retirement who would not have before Brown’s election.
But think about this one: Scott Brown may have saved New York City from having the 9/11 KSM Show Trial held in their backyard. Why? Well, before Brown’s election, there were only scant peeps — mostly Republicans — opposing the Obama-Holder plan to showcase KSM & Co. in Manhattan.
SINCE Scott Brown’s election, the roar of disapproval about the 9/11 trials has become so loud that Obama himself has capped Holder at the knees. Media reports now say a military trial is likely, perhaps even held at GITMO.
Elections have consequences, my friends. Sen. Scott Brown’s is the gift that keeps on giving back to America every single day.

Unless you’ve had a conversation with Rep. Kennedy and heard him say, “Damn, that health care thing is making me cry at night like a little girl; it’s time for me to retire,” I would say the connection you cite is obvious only to yourself and not likely to hold much water.
First, the Kennedys have a tendency to try do things that they THINK they should want to do – such as achieving a high level of political power – even if they themselves do not really want to do them. Part of the legacy of Joe Kennedy’s high expectations. Patrick’s generation of Kennedys has one hell of a history to live up to, regardless of how you feel about the family and its politics (one president and war hero, assassinated; one senator and presidential hopeful, assassinated; one war hero pilot, killed in action; one senator who basically typified an entire political party for several decades). I’ve always thought that most of Patrick’s generation ran for office because they thought they were SUPPOSED to, or felt obligated to, but really did not have their hearts in it.
When Ted ran for president, and lost, it was widely reported that he felt a huge responsibility to try for the office because of his brothers, and in fact seemed more productive as a senator after he lost (and could say, well, OK, at least I tried, I’ve done the “brother of Jack and Bobby” thing, now let me do what I really want to do).
I don’t think it’s an accident that his son waited for his father to die before resigning. I don’t think healthcare has anything to do with it.

Phil,
In Patrick Kennedy’s case as well as others from “Camelot” I agree. But For the others the coat tails are fraying and can’t hold them up any longer, they see the tea party writing on the wall and are bailing while the can, thus getting the best possible golden parachutes possible.

More likely, when Teddy died, Patches realized that he had finally lost his Gold Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card, a card he’s used already a few times in his relatively young life. If I were him, I’d be thinking about lowering the profile a lot right about now, too.

This is a myth. Joe Kennedy was a conniving narcissist who broke the law at will and manipulated everybody and everything around him. He exemplified the worst in nouveau riche power and status. Try to find a cheery biography of the man.
JFK, Bobby and Teddy used women like kleenex. Joe Kennedy did not set that “high expectation” for them, he demonstrated it.
Whether it was Bobby’s wire tapping or Teddy’s council of advisors as Mary Jo Kopechne died of asphyxiation, they were following the manipulative moral relevancy code of the family: The Ends Justify the Means.
Much of the nation sucked up the slobber of Camelot. When John, Jr. crashed his plane and died, it was treated as a great national tragedy and a return of the Kennedy “curse” by the sycophantic lame stream media. The media lionized the cub who just couldn’t quite connect. He was literally all dressed up with nowhere to go.
Patrick Kennedy is part of the Camelot gene pool which has all the “curses” and none of the charisma or drive to manipulate his way to stature. He is a dud. And he seems to know it. There is plenty of company among the cousins in the outbuildings of the Kennedy Compound for him to stumble around with.
Yeah, Obama killed his gig. He got his seat in government on the whiff of fame and now he has to produce to keep it. He has the wino’s “sober” view of circumstances. He knows who and what he is and he sees the handwriting on the wall. It is time to crawl back under the rock.
