The Coming Right-Wing Backlash Against Dick Cheney

Former Vice President Dick Cheney is scheduled to headline the Claremont Institute’s 30th Anniversary Dinner next month here in Los Angeles.  We at GayPatriot expect to be organizing a table, but we fear, given what we’ve read about the hatred of right-wingers harbor for homosexuals that this conservative think tank might cancel his appearance.

You see, now that in addition to opposing the Federal Marriage Amendment (back in 2004), welcoming his lesbian daughter’s same-sex partner into his family (and at public events), he now favors repeal of the ban on gays serving openly in the military.  Surely, conservatives, if left-wing stereotypes be accurate, will throw him under the bus.

They will no longer sing his praises when he criticizes the Administration on the Sunday morning talk shows.  They will no longer consider him a hero.  All past praise of this good man will be pushed down the memory hole.

They’ve been waiting for this moment for six years, these right-wing haters.

But, we, at GayPatriot, will continue to stand by this principled conservative, even if our ideological confrères on the right abandon him for his “homosexualist” agenda.

  2. Cheney ridiculed by the left and the old fashioned media.
After his most recent critique of the Obama administration… Obamas polls dropped furthur.
Now a stunning majority would NOT re elect Barack Hussien Obama.
Which leftie in here kept re adding the rasmussen polls trying to show Obama would still win and the Republicans were doomed to 10 years in the wilderness? Kind of comical now isn’t it.
Every time I see former Vice President Cheney I’m reminded of the adults who use to be incharge. I don’t feel as safe.

  3. “What? New York City!”

    “Dick Cheney supports homer-secshuals?”

The left only wishes we were this zealous. Perhaps we all are…

  4. Speaking as a straight white Christian conservative from Texas, I’m proud to declare myself a Dick Cheney Republican.

  5. Do you think you could possibly tone down the melodramatics regarding Cheney’s daughter? Women are not born gay and neither are men. Whereas we respect Cheney’s protective nature toward his daughter and what he incorrectly perceives as innate behavior; conservatives, contrary to the delusional hyperbole, do not hate LGBT individuals. We do, however, cast doubt on the fraudulent claims made by the liberal bodies of the APA(s) and the ABA based on the musings of the sadomasochistic borderline psychopath, Alfred Kinsey.

  6. Would GayPatriot consider Dick Cheney a “principled conservative” if he stood for genuine conservative moral values? Not a rhetorical question; I’d really like to know.

  7. Women are not born gay and neither are men.

Ergo, they’re not born straight either. Guess we’re all born androgynous like Pat, eh?

  8. I would vote for Mr. Cheney for president if he ran in 2012! He is a good man and while I may not agree about the Defense of Marriage act, he has good reason-Mary Cheney-and I do not think that he is pushing any gay agenda. Take that back. A left-wing gay agenda. BTW, I am agnostic about lifting DADT. It is one of those issues I really think both sides have good points and I am trying to figure out what really makes sense.

I can second that. Alas, I believe that he is true to his word about not being a candidate.

That’s just the thing. The stereotypes are NOT accurate.

Please, no more Bushes. Many Dems would like to elect Hillary. Bush, Clinton, we´ll become like the recent past in the Dominican Republic alternating Juan Bosch and Joaquin Balaguer. I´m sure the Party has more electable talent apart from another Bush.

  14. if left-wing stereotypes be accurate. . .

Isn’t there an old saw – to the effect that ‘stereotypes keep lazy people from having to form an opinion’ ?
