From what planet comes this health care bill?

When I first read that House Democrats were cooking up a rule to allow their chamber to pass the Senate version of Obamacare without a vote, I wondered what planet they were living on.  Are they aware that then-long shot Massachusetts Senate candidate began his rise in the polls at the same time Harry Reid (D-Mt. Crumpet) was paying off wavering then-moderate Senators with our tax dollars.

People in the home state of Teddy Kennedy, you know that champion of socialized medicine, were upset at the tactics the Democrats were using to pass health care.

In the Senate, they used payoffs.  In the House, they’re using procedural gimmicks to pass unpopular legislation which will effectively nationalize one-sixth of the American economy, giving greater control over our health care decisions to yet-to-be-created government bureaucracies.  And all this from a party which won its recent majorities running under the banner of transparency and open government, promising to drain the swamp that Capitol Hill had become under Republicans.

Procedural gimmicks and bribes–the Democrats’ means to increasing government control over our society.

If health care passes this way, ten months hence Speaker Boehner will enjoy the biggest Republican majority in the House since the 67th Congress.

  3. I thought the President said Americans don’t care about the arcane rules, procedures and processes of the legislative bodies? We just want an up or down vote. Unless, of course, they can’t cobble together enough Democrats to succeed on an up or down vote, then they just ignore the pesky voting process and they create a loophole so they can behave like totalitarian tyrants.

What can go wrong if my Congressman has his vote stolen from him, effectively disenfranchising my voice, on the most sweeping piece of legislation that will affect every person in the country forever?

Wan’t the original Boston Tea Party driven by taxation without represenation? Really. What can go wrong?

  4. Why doesn’t Obama just assemble the Politburo on the roof of the Lincoln Memorial and issue a decree? This Pelosi-Reid Chinese fire drill has worn itself out and it is time for The Won to jut out his chin and dismiss the legislative branch, send instructions out to the courts and get the citizens properly organized with the help and direction of the Obamacorpse.

Praise be unto Michelle and her amazing upper arms.

I just want to know: What happened to Obama’s call for an up-or-down vote on it?

But, unfortunately, the hideous damage to America will be done. That is what the Democrats are counting on, at least.

  7. And the sick reality is that while the electorate will grumble and fume all the way to the voting booth in November 2010 muttering about “…those bastards” and “…we should throw the bums out”; when it come time to ACTAULLY DO SOMETHING they’ll still vote for their guy…again…instead of cleaning house.

It’s not just the inherent advanatges of incumbancy; it’s the political laxiness of the electorate….and their self-interest in the status quo. It seems to make no difference if he (or she) is a crook, tax-cheat, drunk, philanderer, liar, opportunist, or creepy pervert.

  8. THE current “health care” bill is a boon to the already corrupt American Insurance Industry! It guarantees it additional billions of dollars in profits, if ratified and signed into law! If the bill fails, the lucrative American Insurance Industry maintains the status quo and does business as usual. It is a win/win situation for the American Insurance Companies!
Short falls: the current bill does not address DENTIAL INSURANCE needs! It does not address EYECARE INSURANCE needs! Why? That could lesson profits!
What the American nation needs is to do is extend the existing “Medicare” insurance to all Americans! No need for congress to pretend to have to re-invent the wheel here!
