Obama’s Strong Disapproval Matches W’s At End of Term

Glenn Reynolds alerts us to the latestRasmussen [poll]: 43% now strongly disapprove of Obama, same as Bush when he left office: “Imagine how unpopular Obama would be if the press and the late night comedians (who are at least as important as the press) treated Obama as they treated Bush.”

And imagine how unpopular Obama will be should Obamacare pass the House and as we keeping learning about the bill’s myriad moving parts and its plethora of payoffs –not to mention the various inducements to get wavering Democrats to vote in favor of this legislation to limit our liberty.

His poll numbers will continue to decline in the coming days go down as the Senate is going to have to devote an inordinate amount of time to debating all those House fixes.  So, if the House package passes, we’re going to be at this for a while, a long while and the more wer’re at this, the lower Obama’s polls go.

The health care nightmare debate may well continue as will Obama’s polling agony.

  1. Wow. Now that is a stretch. Its amazing the lengths that you guys go to convince yourselves of things you know ain’t true.

Here is a summary of Bush at the end of his term –

Those top 6 average out to approvals of 30.5, disapproval of 64.
Compared to Obama who is, by various aggregators at roughly 48/48.

Yes, not only far better than Bush, but better than Reagan at this point in his presidency.

  2. Tano, once again, do you even read or posts? Go look at the title once again and look at that adjective modifying “approval.”

Don’t think we’ll get you to acknowledge your error in your hasty reply.

  3. I’m surprised Tano F’ing Tool hasn’t spun a 110% approval rating.

  4. It’s disturbing to me that O’s numbers are as high as they are. How could anyone with a brain (and who’s not on the government payroll) approve of Obama’s performance as president?

The healthcare debacle; the imminent amnesty push; unemployment; tax increases; the fact we’re still in Afghanistan; the chicanery in Congress in the service of his agenda to remake the country into a social-welfare basket case; the increasing alienation of our allies; the escalation of the race and culture wars; terrorist trials (with pre-ordained verdicts by Obama and Holder)… what the hell is he doing right?

The fact that so many people approve of this (or are simply blind as to what’s going on) signals doom in my pessimistic opinion.

Given that we (as a people) keep voting for the same people that everyone seems to agree are ruining the country (see Gallup numbers on Congress – 80% disapproval) serves to confirm my theory that we will be strung up with our own rope.

  9. You think he’s unpopular now! Just wait until Republicans take back control and actually hold him accountable for once! Once Republicans have subpoena power and the press can no longer cover for him, Obama will be lucky to serve out the remainder of his first term without being impeached!

    Tardo,

Bush was right. Iraq is a free, democratic ally in the heart of the most oppressive, terrorist-breeding region on earth. AND he was right that if congress didnt stop what Democrat operatives were doing at Fannie and Freddy, it would lead to economic disaster. (Democrats filibustered every attempt at reform)

Bush will join the ranks of great presidents who were very unpopular at the end of their terms, presidents like Truman and Lincoln — while Obama will join the disastrous presidents who were unpopular at the end of their terms and deserved every bit of it because they SUCKED — like his ideological soul-mate, Jimmy Carter.

  10. To repeat my comment under the post Congress Reaches Record Disapproval, the one poll on Obama that hasn´t been taken is his approval rating among African Americans. He garnered 97% of the their vote of which 4% had to come black Republicans´If his numbers remain extremely high, then it skews both his approval rating among Democrats in general, as well as, his overall approval rating,
