Congressman Lewis’s Questionable Account Says A Lot
According to CNN, Representative John Lewis (D-Don’t they pay attention down there?) is accusing unnamed Tea Party protesters yesterday of calling him racial things. Alongside him, Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-Show Me) accuses likewise unnamed and unidentified people as having spat on him.
Let’s break this down: Two men from Congress (approval rating, 16%) make accusations that fulfill their fantasies about racism and incivility in a group they have caricatured as both racist and uncivil. However, there is no video or audio recording of the event, no photography of the event, and no corroboration from someone who doesn’t have a dog in the fight. Still, of course, the old-school media reports it as fact.
Now, I watched a bit of FoxNews yesterday and saw they had cameras down there most of the day. I flipped from time to time over to CNN and over to MSNBC and didn’t see any live footage of the rallies (there may have been some, but I just missed it). However, I only see reports of this from CNN and MSNBC, with zero evidence other than the testimony of already proven unreliable and scheming congressmen (one of whom was able to testify to the press that he heard a slur “15 times”. Really?) Naturally the Leftist press is breathless about all of this. (FoxNews, FWIW, actually has the condemnation of a “Tea Party leader”…something those who don’t believe Tea Party people exist wouldn’t be able to acquire.)
It’s a shame the old-school in-the-pocket press is so hell-bent on ignoring and downplaying the Tea Party movement. It seems that if they considered it real news and covered it, they’d probably have some sort of evidence (other than that of the words of these proven scoudrels). Unfortunately for them, it might mean actually getting the other side’s story out there. That would do two terrible things for them: First, it’d show these scurrilous accusations to be lies, and second, it’d actually allow our voice to get out and stop this steam-roller.
To the press and these congressmen, I say: Show us your evidence.
Naturally I don’t expect any. They’ve built their entire careers on mischaracterizations of their opponents and their own disdain for any opposition keeps them from ever hearing or paying attention to anybody but their own echo chamber. Truly disgusting.

UPDATE (from Dan): There is video: “Video Debunks Lib Accusations That Slurs were Shouted (and Thoughts on Identity Politics)“:
A CNN reporter, yes, CNN, the home of the infamous Susan Rosegen, claimed to have heard racist slurs and shouts; other bloggers picked it up. I mean, if you’re going to smear a group of people by claiming that they were shouting slurs, perhaps make sure you don’t post video that completely refutes your claim and makes you look like a race hustler. Just saying.
Once again, we have Democrats describing Republicans not as we are, but as their prejudices define us.

We know the Democrat politicians’ attitude is: Anything to create Mo for socialism. Even lying? It’s all for the greater good, the glorious future of Statism.

In the post immediately below (The Last Stand, Until The Last Stand) our troll gillie (#6) shows up with this:
Notice two things: 1.) gillie brands the majority of Americans as being haters; and, 2.) gillie links to “tpmdc.TALKING POINTS MEMO.com.
Clearly, it is gillie’s job/mission to cast aspersions and smear first, smear again and then run away, run away, run away to get more talking points.
There is no method in gillie’s madness, he is just consumed with responding to the voices in his head. Yes, that is a considered opinion that gillie is a victim of lunacy and he is happy with his condition.

heliotrope, I can’t argue. I have long noticed that gillie’s “mind” is discombobulated; his “arguments” incoherent and counter-factual.

I’m a Caucasian, gay 45-yo male. It may be BECAUSE of these characteristics and descriptors that I’m missing something here…but IF I WERE the gentleman who’d walked the walk in 1961-1965 with Dr. MLK, Jr., and endured as he did…I’d have waded through the crowd and had a ‘come-to-Jesus’ (the Saviour, not the gardener) talk with whoever tossed ‘n*gger’ out at me. {* is for your sensibilities, not mine}…and there would have been arrests by the Capitol Police.
Decorum of the Congress and its members aside (I think they do more damage to its reputation daily than a fist-fight with a racist bigot could ever do)…I’d be more impressed and honored by that sort of a display than the quintessential WHINING that took place instead.
I’m rambling (apologies)…but I’m still so unimpressed by anyone, who as a victim of NAME-CALLING, in a nation where free speech is enshrined… decries such incidents as great injustices of racism, homo(phobia) {a completely inaccurate and poorly used word}, sexism, etc., when in areas all around this world and in Colorado (Matt S.)… people are losing their livelihoods, liberty and LIVES as a result of REAL racism, slavery, gay-hatred, sexism and the like.

And the fact that John Lewis has for months called those who protest the socialist takeover of health care “Nazis”, “teabaggers”, and “racists”.
He exemplifies the Obama Party philosophy of skin color being more important than the content of one’s character.

There is no evidence of the slurs because the scumbags made the whole thing up. But to be fair, they were just doing whatever was necessary to obey their orders from the party:
“do not allow yourself (or your boss) to get into a discussion of the details of CBO scores and textual narrative. Instead, focus only on the deficit reduction and number of Americans covered.”

Leveling completely unfounded accusations of bigotry and racism to be disseminated by the lap dog liberal media is the weapon of choice for Representatives seeking to avoid those pesky questions about CBO scores and the “textual narrative” of the healthcare bill.

I suspect a case of Trolling.
Not Tardo/Ghill style, but actual trolling.
There are passages for the members to get from their offices to the chamber without going out.
There was no reason for these two to wade through an obviously hostile (to their position) crowd. With all the cameras out there, someone will be able to verify if these fools are telling the truth, I’d think.

Classy. I guess the entire capitol police force is in on it, huh? They did make an arrest and filed a report against the spitter, but calling someone names is not an arrestable offense.
if there were politicians willing to make up a story about being called these things in the 21st century in dc, then we will have reached a new height in political shamelessness. Why would they make this story up? Do black people of any stripe just nonchalantly accuse white people of screaming and spitting at them right outside of their offices? I don’t think that is a typical case.
Have you bozos considered what it would mean if it were true? Its been pretty clear for some time now that the organizational response to obama has been at least tolerant of racism if not downright exploiting it, and let’s face it; there aren’t a whole lot of black republicans for a reason.

Levi – you are a liar. You and your fellow travelers know this to be a lie but, typically, you repeat the Big Lie until it becomes “truth”.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A congressman who was spat on by a protestor on Capitol Hill says he is declining to press charges, but turns out the Capitol Police say they made no arrests.

I might add that I do not believe Cleaver. It’s just too convenient.
If he was spat upon and able to ID the spitter then he should have had them arrested and jailed (as would be appropriate).
I am soooo damn sick of the race card, I could just puke.

I was there and saw nothing like that.
It’s just the same old lie started by noted political philosopher and high school dropout Janeane Garafalo.
