According to the most recent CBS poll (a survey which skews left): Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s favorability rating stands at 11%. Now, only 37% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion, but then again, 36% haven’t heard enough of the San Francisco Congressman.
In short, of those Americans who have an opinion about Mrs. Pelosi, three times as many have a negative view as those who have a positive view of the woman who pushed Obamacare through the House.
Now, I know then-Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich was not particularly popular in the mid-1990s when he served, but then he did push through the Contract with America, a series of proposals so popular that Democrat Bill Clinton campaigned on several in his 1996 re-election campaign, even touting a few in his speech accepting the Democratic nomination that summer.
(H/t: Gateway Pundit.)
yes, actually pretty close.
And, of course, most of Pelosi’s numbers in different polls, are in the 20s to 30s range. Very similar to Gingrich.
Specifically, in a poll from the same outfit that did the Pelosi poll that you cite, CBS, Gingrich, on 2007 had
Favorable – 16%
Unfavorable – 43%
Undecided – 21%
Havent Heard 20%
Note, that is 5 points higher favorable, but also 6 points higher unfavorable.
To be fair to both Pelosi and Gingrich, both of these polls seem to be outliers. Most of their polls are quite similar in the ranges I mentioned above.

That is, if you really are interested in the facts, rather than just trying to spin something.
Tano, wow, you do have a jaundiced view of a blog where you seem to spend the better part of your day. I saw the Pelosi polls and decided to hack out a quick post on a busy day. So your last barb is quite revealing of your purpose.
I was actually quite curious to see what Newt’s numbers were in the 1990s, knowing that, unlike Mrs. Pelosi, he received a regular barrage of negative media coverage and never had Diane Sawyer blow smoke up her . . .
And please, you provide numbers from 2007. Gingrich was Speaker from 1995-99. The last ¶ of my post referred to the mid-1990s. And I had been hoping one of our readers would supply such data. You did not.
Except when you’re f*ing clueless about how to use it. Is there a PollingPrompter for you?
Tano is a pollish joke come to life. Is it politically correct to tell Pollish jokes?
How many Pollsters does it take to screw in a light bulb? Just Tano. When it comes to pollsters, polls, light bulbs and screwing, he is a one man side show. Now, whether you want to watch Tano screw in a pollster light bulb is a far different matter.
(Disclaimer: I try to keep away from double meanings, but with Tano you are required to be duplicitous in order to begin to catch the essence of his eely nature.)
How many Pollsters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None, they’re too busy screwing us.
