Thank You, Senator Coburn!
Something changed in the political landscape in the past 12 or so hours. Conservatives were glum, depressed about the passage of Obamacare on Sunday. We felt disappointed, angry. Now, all of a sudden, if you judge by the left-wing blogs linked on Memeorandum and the tone of our critics’ comments, it’s the left-wingers who are bitter, snapping at Senate Republicans for rooting out problems in the House reconciliation “fixes” and for introducing amendments to said legislative package, delaying its passage for a few days.
And with a recent spate of polls showing that the American people still disapprove of this “historic” health care bill, with one survey showing that nearly two-thirds want Republicans to keep challenging it, we know that our fellow citizens have not bought into the arguments of the Democrats.
But, among all the Republicans working overtime to keeping fighting against Obamacare, one Senator stands out, Dr. Tom Coburn from the great state of Oklahoma! First, he warned Democrats who flipped from “No” to “Yes” on Obamacare that he’d hold up their appointments to government jobs if they lost their seats. And this week, he introduced amendment to “prevent convicted child molesters and rapists from getting reimbursed by the government for drugs to treat erectile dysfunction“.
Democrats voted it down because they didn’t want to send the bill back to the House for a revote. And now that it is going back to the House anyway, I bet all 57 of those Democrats, especially those running for reelection this fall, wish they had voted for the Coburn Amendment. They weren’t able to prevent the revote anyway. And they got themselves voting against a provision preventing rapists from getting tax-payer funded Viagra!
Thank you, Senator Coburn!
By the way, Coburn has endorsed my gal Carly to replace his junior California colleague. Show your appreciation to this good man by donating to his candidate in the Golden State.

The entire Left program at this point is an exercise in Theater of the Absurd. The ship (America) is going down, at least fiscally, while the Democrats party on deck with speakers blaring and pretend their hare-brained, immoral schemes are somehow sustainable.
America will take no small damage from their fecklessness, and that is sad. But there is something about having reality on one’s side – and knowing it – that does bring a certain confidence and quiet joy, even in the face of disaster. That is the position that fiscal conservatives and non-Democrats generally are now in.

One of the most heinous parts of the law that needs fixing is this:

If I never see another ‘nanny-state’, do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do, egalitarian, elitist, I-know-better-than-YOU-do, “Let them eat cake(bread)” attitude…I’ll know I’ve seen the core of such right here. What fake concern, unbelievable disdain and boundless arrogant piety. I’m sick just typing the words.

Remember when Pelosi said we’d see what was in the bill once it was passed into law? Remember how many people, pundits and the like said Conservative claims of socialism and controlling the populace or controlling one-sixth of our economy, were discounted? Here’s another reason, the crux of the matter, if you will, as to why Sen. Coburn and all of us have to keep fighting this:

And no, nothing was omitted; Rep. Dingell ended his conversation with “to control the people.”

I’m somewhat offended at having to pay for Viagra for anyone. You can get generic from Canadian pharma for about $3/pill. The purpose is completely personal. I mean, dig the change out of the couch cushions or something. THIS is what we’re bankrupting the country for? Boner pills for sex offendors?
