Michelle Obama: “AIDS Is Spread By Homophobia” & “Kenya is Barack’s Home Country”

Uh oh… they let her talk.

  1. I had no idea that “homophobia” is what made ignorant hut-dwellers with AIDS rape little girls for the mystical cure.

    Live and learn, I guess.

  2. I think Michelle Obama’s ability to maintain high popularity is almost completely due to her staying out of politics since she’s been first lady. To be sure, she hasn’t avoid controversial political subjects completely, but I for one have been pleasantly surprised how she’s been more like Laura Bush than Hillary Clinton. While her husband has become more controversial and divisive since becoming president, she’s become less controversial and divisive.

As for this particular clip, the “homophobia” bit is stupid but, in this context, it seems not to be mean-spirited. And as I understand it, there are some pretty ignorant ideas about homosexuality, at least in neighboring Uganda, which at least was considering a horribly anti-gay law (although I can’t remember exactly how the law was supposed to work).

As for Kenya being Barack’s home country—conservatives should NOT take this bait. I don’t know if the First Lady is consciously trying to lure people into birtherism or not, but either way, we should stay clear of this. We need to stick to real issues affecting Americans, specifically the economy and the awful new healthcare law. These are the issues that matter, and these are the issues that the GOP can win on this fall. Any question of where Barack was born is just a distraction that must be avoided.

  3. Funny, I’ll agree on the second part, but not the first. Liberals hate minorities, and just benefit from pitting them against one another as groups.

Though I do need to save this to tease libs with ‘Michelle is a birther’ posts.

  5. Well I’m glad that Barack has a home country, cause it certainly isn’t here.

  6. Oh, let’s–let’s take the bait. That has got to be one of the stupidest things anyone in the public eye has ever said. It’s like someone saying, “I talked to W. as he was overlooking various groups who were planning an attack on the US and wondering which of them he should let through. . .”

If this leads to Obama having to release his BC, I want to lay odds he’s listed as a Muslim. That’s what he’s really trying to hide.

  8. Boy it would really suck for republicans if it turns out to be true now wouldn’t it..because neither the previous pres or VP stepped up to protect and defend the Constitution …and ol dicky boy failed as it was since he failed to ask for objections during the ratification of the electoral votes….me thinks now it is you who would rather we all just move along…nothing to see here…
Intersting too that just yesterday FOX ran an interview with cousin odinga…from Kenya….rumor also has it that some congressman does in fact have the long form BC…oh please…let that be true and that said congressperson will get it out there…

  15. “and visited his home country in Kenya”

This echoes an article by L.E. Ikenga, “Obama, the African Colonial,” in which she writes, “The key to understanding [Obama] lies with his identification with his father, and his adoption of a cultural and political mindset rooted in postcolonial Africa.”

The point of Michelle’s comment about her husband’s “home country” being Kenya is precisely what it reveals about his cultural and political mindset. Loud and clear, Obama does not view himself as an American in the way that most, if not all, previous presidents have. Where Obama was actually born is irrelevant.

    Comment by Conservative Guy — April 5, 2010 @ 2:28 am - April 5, 2010

  16. seriously conservative guy..it’s irrelevant? wow… you sound more like a bot … I do however agree with you and have felt he is NOT of this country…he did not have the American experiences we had at such an impressionable age 6-10…

i think it is all very relevant …posted link not to here but somewhere else …fb friend said she had seen the link during the primaries…but that a judge would not allow it…we’ll see…too much of OUR money has been spent to keep all records sealed..wonder though for how much longer…

  17. Whether Obama was born in Hawaii, Kenya, or Indonesia, his “cultural and political mindset” would still be “rooted in postcolonial Africa” because of his choice to identify with his father.

Where he was born is relevant to his Constitutional eligibility to serve as president, but I don’t think Michelle’s comment here was speaking to his place of birth but rather she was speaking to the country with which he identifies.

Like some of her (and his) other slip-of-the-tongue comments, the public mask falls away briefly and we get a glimpse of who these people really are and what they really think. E.g. I think Obama is exactly the kind of smug intellectual who thinks jokes about the Special Olympics are funny, and Michelle really was proud of her country for only the first time in her adult life. Honestly, how often do you hear any highly educated liberal say they are proud of America? Disdain for America is part of the elite liberal world in which she has lived most of her adult life.

    Comment by Conservative Guy — April 5, 2010 @ 4:52 am - April 5, 2010

  18. I’m not particularly excited about the Kenya comment, except of course that it will be loads of fun painting Michelle as a birther.

But to give credit where it’s due, I have to correct myself. Assuming she is speaking to a black audience, which it sounds like she is, then her comment is probably true — that because homosexuality is less accepted in the black community, that people are afraid to get tested for fear that someone will think they are gay, because everyone knows only homos need to get HIV tests.

What’s stupid (not to mention arrogant) is her solution. That because SHE and the worst president ever got tested, that other people shouldn’t be afraid either. That actually doesnt address the problem at all. Since she and the evil one are theoretically monogamous, heterosexual, IV drug users, OF COURSE there’s no reason to be afraid to get an HIV test. However, all the black men who are shooting IV drugs and having unprotected sex with men fear getting tested for good reason — because they very likely ARE positive.

All she has done is explain why its no big deal for people who are at low risk to get tested, she hasnt done a thing to address the problem she correctly identified.

In other words, another typical boneheaded, useless liberal solution.

  19. You know, if any other white American politician – let’s say a conservative politician named O’Reilly or O’Leary – went to Ireland and got all misty eyed and started to talk about “the old country,” would we be all up in arms? This is silliness.

    Comment by Phil Holmes — April 5, 2010 @ 8:05 am - April 5, 2010

  20. Nice try Phil. There’s a bit of difference between ‘the old country’ and “his home country in Kenya”

Technically Poland and Germany and England are my ‘old countries’ but I’m always going to look at America, and Appalachia in particular, as my ‘home country’.

  21. The “birthers” have been effectively marginalized and put in a league with “truthers.” However, moving forward, I favor having the Archivist of the United States examine the birth certificates of every Presidential candidate and to certify that said candidate meets the Constitutional age, citizenship and birth requirements to become President. Official, certified copies of all these documents would become the public property of the archives and open to inspection.

It is plain silly not to have such a simple and basic set of qualifications for office be certified so all the “games” and speculation are settled from the start.

There is absolutely nothing preventing Obama from releasing his birth certificate except Obama. The fact that he has not only fuels the speculation as to why he has not. Now, his wife has tossed kerosene on the fire. Let the backpedaling begin. I can’t wait to hear all the Obamanauts attack the “birthers” for snickering.

  22. I would bet (within reason) that if we could somehow see the birth certificate, we would find out that Obama:

    (1) was born in the United States; and
    (2) was born as a Muslim – which fact, if it were proven, would make him an apostate worthy of death, in the eyes of the world’s Muslims.

I would also bet that his past medical records, if we could ever see them, would show he’s been treated for psychological problems. And that his college records, if we could ever see them, would show that he was a poor student as well as a full-on Marxist, and possibly connected with homosexuality at that time.

    Just my guesses.

    Comment by ILoveCapitalism — April 5, 2010 @ 10:03 am - April 5, 2010

  23. Nothing we did not know already. Perhaps that is why we are not allowed to see his birth certificate.
I do not know they do let her out.

  24. What the hell — it’s just the United States Constitution — “a distraction that must be avoided?” Whether or not the First Lady is popular and not mean spirited is far more important. Let’s chuck the Constitution along with our integrity and our country, and focus on what the latest marginalization trends are in designer politics, and how Michelle’s arms look on the lastest cover of People Magazine.

Preserving the USA and the Constitution along with the economy and dismantling Death Care isn’t too much for our plate. We handled Nazism. We can handle both Obama and people who buy into “birthers” as being eccentric.

  26. I thought AIDS was spread by Ronald Reagan. Well, that’s what we were told in the 80s.

As for Barack Obama’s home country being Kenya: She’s RAAAAAAACIST!!!!!! Oh wait. OK. So from now on, in conversation, I will refer to that coastal East African country between Tanzania and Somalia as “Barack Obama’s Home Country of Kenya.” I will force it into conversations if I have to.

I have to say…it is no less nauseating to watch you all defend the INACTION of “your” leader(s) as it is watching the bots defend the actions of theirs…what a friggin mess….

They did have an obligation and a responsibility to PROTECT and DEFEND that Constitution that you all banter around itwould appear ONLY when it suits your needs..

    Credibility over here….ZERO>>>>

I had said during the primaries all along..there should be psychological testing for any candidate for POTUS and quite frankly I was stunned to find that there is presently NO mechanism in place for checking ALL documents … your continued blind eyes are truly disappointing.

  29. l3,

As much as it may have been their job, do you really think we’d have survived the chaos that would have come from it? I think it is like hiding FDR’s Polio. If there’s any truth out of it, it will come out after the fact and we’ll go on. I don’t think the communists and terrorists on the left would have taken the peaceful route of understanding that it was an important vetting process.

  30. Didn’t Obama’s father leave him when he was a very young boy? It would explain allot. Always pining for the approval of the one who left you. He is a damaged individual who blames everyone(USA) for his lot in life, never looking in the mirror.

  32. 23: I believe there’s a legal term called “asked and answered”. His birth certificate has been produced and certified as legitimate by officials in Hawaii (including a Republican governor). I’m not sure what other proof you need. Seems to me there’s either the birthers, who are too dumb to let this go or the people who support them (like politicians). I’ve heard a number of these politicians make these weasel comments to keep this nonsense going. Seems the only Republican politician who had the balls to stand his ground on this issue (Mike Castle) got reamed at a town hall meeting by a bunch of crazy people. Sorry, but if our current president was a “white” guy who was a first generation born American from a “white” country and didn’t have some un-white kind of name, this wouldn’t be an issue.

    Comment by Kevin — April 6, 2010 @ 10:48 pm - April 6, 2010

  33. Sorry, but if our current president was a “white” guy who was a first generation born American from a “white” country and didn’t have some un-white kind of name, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Sorry for what—-playing the race card?

Believe me, if Bill Clinton had the same lame story, he would have the same hounding.

Why shouldn’t Obama release the original birth certificate? You stand four square behind the man, ask him to produce it and make chumps of all the birthers. It is really just that simple.

Deep down, you are afraid of what is on that birth certificate or you even worry that there is only a fraud certificate. Otherwise, you would not waste your time trying to unscramble The Won’s omelet.

    Comment by heliotrope — April 6, 2010 @ 11:20 pm - April 6, 2010

  34. And the entertaining part is that Kevin and the left were shrieking at John McCain to release his birth certificate because it proved McCain wasn’t an American citizen.

Or at Sarah Palin to release her son’s birth certificate because it proved that her son wasn’t hers.

Why should the racist black Obama not be required to follow the same rules he demands of others? Does he get a free pass because of his black skin from you, Kevin? Why don’t you treat people with black skin the same way you do people with white skin? Is it because you are a racist like Obama?
