Tell them You’re Gay at the Tea Party on Thursday

April 13, 2010 by B. Daniel Blatt

There are few things in the popular discourse today more dishonest than the narrative the mainstream media wish to peddle about the tea parties, that those of us who participate in such protests are mean-spirited, narrow-minded, racist and anti-gay.  We are neither interested in civil discourse nor the democratic process.

And much as many of those who malign us are peddling this preposterous notion, they’re busy smearing us with a sexual slur.

Now, although we know that even the reality of such protests won’t disabuse some critics of the image in their heads, we still should try to show just how broad-based, how tolerant are the tea parties. Therefore, I instruct all blog readers who are free this coming Thursday, April 15 to attend the Tea Party nearest you and find some means to identify yourself as a gay person as did these readers at past such protests:

If you’re not gay yourself, please hold a sign that says something like, “Proud Reader of a Gay Blog & Opponent of Big Government.”

Take pictures if you can, send them in and let me know how the crowd reacts.  I daresay you’ll be as well-received a were those fine people above.

Although I’m not much of a fan of protest, I did have fun at the four tea parties I attended last year, meeting great people and promoting freedom.  Join me at the  LA Tax Day Tea Party Rally at Senator Dianne Feinstein’s office,  11111 Santa Monica Boulevard, Suite 915 in Los Angeles, CA 90025-3343, this coming Thursday, April 15 at 5:30pm.

Saw a t-shirt somewhere which had a print of the Gadsden Flag, but with a rainbow background instead of yellow. Can’t decide if it’s cool or tacky.

If I can make it to the DC Tea Party, I am bringing my Solidarnosc flag. I bought it because Solidarity, like the Tea Parties, formed in opposition to a Marxist government. With the tragic loss of Poland’s leadership, it is especially poignant now.

Hope no one will be selling Straight Pride Shirts at this rally, like they were in Michigan:

    http://michiganmessenger.com/36668/straight-pride-shirts-at-tea-party-rally-draw-fire

Oh, and that video that “disproves” racism at the DC rallies? Shot later than the time in question and utterly discredited. Plus, even the person who shot it says: “The hatred was palpable.”

Tea Party apologists like to shut their eyes and stomp their feet and pretend none of this stuff is real. And the Tea Party itself might now want to give itself a makeover, but we all know what’s underneath.

Even Fox News can see it: “a cauldron for conspiracy theories”

And the problem with “Straight Pride” is what, exactly? If teh gheys can be proud of what they do with their nads, what’s wrong with straights expressing that same sense of accomplishment?

And why hasn’t anyone come forward to claim the $100,000 reward for any video that actually shows tea-partiers using the N-word? The only people claiming it happened are politicians, and I guess we’re supposed to believe that politicians never lie.

I would think that getting the government out of our lives would be a rallying cry for gays. I think the tea party would be a natural extension of the radical gay agenda, much more than big government liberalism.

I’m all for Straight Pride. I think heterosexual men are neat. It must be fun to have sex when the positions you choose don’t have political connotations. It must be fun to have sex outside of the victim narrative, when your orgasm isn’t a blow against the oppressive patriarchy (so to speak).

Yeah, I’m not getting what’s wrong with “straight pride” either…

or what that has to do with conspiracy theories…

or what that has to do with non-sequiturs from the depths of HuffPo, where they see Kristallnacht lurking behind every tree.

william, please read before commenting; we have acknowledged that there are nuts at these rallies, just that there are nuts at every rally, but they only define them in the narrow minds of people unprepared to look further than their own prejudices.

william – by your logic, the wingnuts on the left discredit everything you stand for – right???

I don’t know what is so hard to understand: the country is on course to financial ruin. A growing number of people are beginning to realize this (finally).

By 2025, interest payments, combined with the cost of Social Security and Medicare for the baby boomers, along with other entitlements, will eat up every dollar of federal revenues.

2025 is not far off, my friend.

Now – off to mail my tax payments!

    http://congress.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/04/13/more-future-tax-dollars-will-go-to-pay-off-old-bills-and-promises/

FWIW: “straight pride” is ridiculous… but no more than “gay pride”.

Meanwhile, we have clear evidence of the behavior that william and his Obama Party support, endorse, and encourage — and cover up.

Just three months after Eric Massa was elected to Congress, his young male employees on Capitol Hill began complaining to supervisors that the lawmaker was making aggressive, sexual overtures toward them, according to new interviews and internal documents.

The senior staff, one of whom said he heard Massa making lewd remarks to young staffers, tried to manage the problem internally. But reports of Massa’s inappropriate behavior continued, leaving junior workers feeling helpless, according to victims, other staffers and sources close to an ongoing House ethics investigation. Most asked not to be named due to the ethics probe and the risk of hurting their job prospects.

This account, drawn from more than two dozen interviews and internal documents, shows that aides were accusing the 50-year-old married lawmaker of far more egregious behavior than previously known. Beginning in March 2009 and over the next several months, male staffers complained that their boss had touched them in a sexual manner, came up with reasons to have staffers travel alone with him on overnight trips, and expressed a desire to have sex with the men in the office.

Isn’t it amazing how the Obama Party, which pushes so hard for “nondiscrimination” laws to “protect” gays, are the ones who are sexually harassing and demanding sex from their subordinates?

So william, why do you support sexually harassing people and demanding sex from your coworkers? Your Obama Party regularly puts people like Massa forward as candidates. Your Obama Party supported and endorsed Massa.

Oh, and the other thing that’s dying today?

The meme of william, gillie, and Levi’s video about US troops supposedly killing innocent bystanders in Iraq.

Turns out the whole thing was deliberately edited to hide the insurgents and the weapons that were there with the goal of manipulating people.

Got an answer, gillie, Levi, or william? Think you’ll ever make a comment here again without someone pointing out how you LIED in a deliberate attempt to smear US troops and manipulate other people?

FWIW, I have mostly only seen “mainstream media” coverage of the Tea Parties (CNN clips, etc), and I have not really felt like that coverage only deals with the nutballs. I think the major media outlets have done a decent job of covering the why of the movement.

But then again, maybe my opinion is biased because I’ve seen both sides of the arguments on blogs. *shrugs*

HUNDREDS of video cameras rolling at the Tea Party event, including several being used by the Democrat congressmen in question, but NONE of them can produce any recording of ANYONE using any racial epithets. Even though there is a $100,000 reward. Why? Because its yet another liberal lie.

Liberals cannot do anything without lying their asses off.

We need some ‘gay conservative’ and ‘gay libertarian’ tee shirts, not just signs. It would help for our fellow tea partiers to know, as well, that we’re not ALL insane.

    Peace.

Huckabee likens gay marriage to incest, polygamy

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100414/ap_on_el_pr/us_huckabee_gay_marriage

“Huckabee is an extremist and in no way was going to become President, not all Republicans are like this, John McCain & Palin both said they did not support Gay Marriage that if a bill came across their desk for it they said they would sign because it is Constitutional. Senator John McCain is rated as top three in the Senate for equality in his …Senate Staff, not a big McCain supporter even though I voted for him for President, you got to read and take the time to see what a Politicians record is, look many voted for Oblah-Blah and he was rated in the bottom three in his Senate staff for equality… “
