L.A. Times Says, “No, Ma’am”

Saying that outgoing U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-San Francisco) “doesn’t display enough intellectual firepower”, the “editors at the biggest newspaper on the West Coast, who were expected to endorse Sen. Barbara Boxer in her primary campaign“:

The left-leaning Los Angeles Times on Friday declined to offer endorsements in all Democratic and Republican primaries for governor and Senate, saying the races have been undermined by politics and money.

But the newspaper’s decision to sit on the sidelines for the Boxer race could prove to be the most damaging of all, given the newspaper’s criticism of the three-term senator.

“On the Democratic side, we find that we’re no fans of incumbent Barbara Boxer,” the newspaper said in an editorial Friday. “She displays less intellectual firepower or leadership than she could.”

Boxer displaying “less intellectual firepower or leadership than she could”?!?! Now, that’s the understatement of the year.

  2. Wow. This is excellent news and it’s a refreshing display of backbone from a paper that I’m sure Boxer expected to rubber-stamp an endorsement of her reelection. Ma’am’s legacy as a Senator is nothing more than a shameful stack of video clips in the C-Span archives documenting her bombastic, power-obsessed inquisitions of Americans dragged into her throne room for the purpose of humiliation and ridicule just so she could pretend that she’s been doing her job for California. Her victims have shown remarkable restraint and afforded her a level of respect despite the fact that they would have been perfectly justified in telling the petty, stupid civil servant to go fu*k herself.

In my opinion, the crescendo of Boxer’s arrogance and elitism peaked with her snide dismissal of the Climate-Gate scandal as “stolen e-mail-gate.” Even if she were afforded the benefit of the doubt that her personal belief in man-made climate change is sincere, as a steward of the taxpayers’ money and a Senator from a state that is currently drowning in an unprecedented financial crisis, Boxer had the obligation to put the brakes on cap-and-tax legislation at least until the “hide the decline” shenanigans could be fully investigated to determine whether the scientific data would support the costly measures that the eco-hysterics have been insisting are necessary. And even if the science could justify the legislation (it can’t), Boxer had an obligation to weigh the necessity of cap-and-tax against the more immediate economic problems and record unemployment that California is currently dealing with.

But Boxer predictably confirmed that she believes none of the above obligations apply to her. She instinctively believes that her “work” as a Senator should be guided by her personal, unwavering devotion to the Church of Environmentalism. Consequently, the fact that her personal belief in man-made global warming remains (idiotically) unshaken is sufficient justification for burdening the State of California and all Americans with burdensome and oppressive energy regulations. Boxer’s actions have been a grotesque display of raging, bureaucratic narcissism and a “let them eat cake” moment worthy of the moonbattery hall of fame, especially considering that she is a multi-millionaire with a lifestyle that is conveniently impervious to the burdens that she would cavalierly impose on others.

Finally, I have never met the woman, but is there any doubt from what we’ve seen of her on C-SPAN that on a personal level she’s an insufferable bitch? If I had to spend even one hour in her presence I’m certain that I’d end up having to blow my brains out. The hag deserves nothing but contempt and I hope that during the election cycle she is put through sheer hell and handed a devastating defeat that not only ends her career politically but also crushes her on a more personal, emotional level. She’s certainly got it comin’.

  4. Wait, the LA Times is saying that the races for elected political offices have been “undermined by politics”?

Oh, man. I’m going to smiling at that one all day.

  5. It’s fascinating to see that it took from 1992 to today for the LA Times to realize this woman isn’t too smart. She’s been talked about as a blithering idiot way back from day one of her campaign, and yet she was a USEFUL blithering idiot to the Liberal Progressives. So it’s curious as to why this ultra-Left Senator is being kicked under the bus by an ultra-Left newspaper.

As opposed to … ? A political race that’s non-political and cost nothing?
