How Do You NOT Love Chris Christie?

Here, the Cubby One smacks down a reporter who asks if his “confrontational” nature is a hindrance to governing. And what an incredibly refreshing response he gives!

As someone who is constantly getting into trouble not for what I say, but more often how I say it, The Guv is speakin’ my language.

Killer quote: “I came here govern, not to worry about re-election.”

You and me both brother. Had that same thought last night when I first saw this. I work in the Bay Area in an office full of libs and they all are like that reporter.

  3. I think that when the time comes around to vote on something major the country will be hearing a lot of “this is so refreshing”! It can’t come soon enough.

I imagine they’re likely proud of him, but you can certainly tell (if those flanking him in this video are any indication) they get a kick out of working for him!

  7. Christie is a bright spot on an otherwise dismal landscape. Perhaps he can give lessons to some of his GOP brothers and sisters.

  8. Perhaps he could give everyone lessons, both Republicans AND Dems. It would certainly unclutter the political landscape if both sides were this frank and open, wouldn’t it?

  10. Too bad that it seems like he wants to complete what he has set out to do in NJ, cuz the country could use someone like him.

  12. “The Cubby One”?

Seems to me that Christie, although youthful-looking, is nonetheless along enough in years to be plain ol’ “Bearish”!

    (WOOF, in any case.)

  15. # 14.

I would like to get married to my Mate of almost fifteen years. It should have happened here in California, but it didn’t.

That said, if it were a trade off of either being able to change the law and get married, OR change the situation of the state where I live, where they are currently fiscally dysfunctional. That would mean the reality of my life in California would change thus:

    - I could get a job as a teacher. I have 2 credentials, but teaching opportunities are scarce because the state doesn’t have the money to hire new teachers, and are laying them off in droves.

    - My business wouldn’t taxed to the ground (I also own Frog’s Pool and Spa Repair).

    - And I could save some money, instead of paying it to a state government that continues to raise both my business and individual tax rates to pay for their incompetence……

I’ll take the later, thank you very much.

But unfortunately, I live in a state where I don’t get either.

  16. Its about time that an elected official remembered that he is a servant of the people and not their master. The citizens hold the true power. Mr. Christie is following the old adage. Speak truth to power!

  17. Isn’t it amazing how excited we get when a Republican leader simply stands up to the press and corrects their false premises? Shows how rare real leadership is on the right.

  19. See, Christie can illustrate conservatism in less than 3 minutes. Liberalsim is the nanny state that says they will do everything for everyone. Conservatism says get govt out of the way of productive people and they will do for themselves and also have a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Want a view of 50 years of Democrat liberalsim…..look at the city of Detroit….
They are demolishing 10,000 ABANDONDED homes. There is talk of reverting 70% of the city limits back to farm land because liberalism has caused the people and business to vanish. Poof. The soviet and Democrat experiment is plain. Eventually even the liberals ask conservatives to save them. They did in NJ. God speed Gov Christie.

  21. I would like to get married to my Mate of almost fifteen years. It should have happened here in California, but it didn’t.

Step 1: Register as Domestic Partners
Step 2: Find a local UU minister, Reform rabbi, or Voodoo priestess willing to perform a same-sex ceremony, and rent a space.
Step 3: Send invitations to all your friends announcing “We are getting married and would like you to come”. Even though your registry with the state of CA says “Domestic Partnership” rather than “Marriage,” you can use the words “marry” and “wedding” on your invitation, and the gummint is powerless to stop you — really!

    There, problem solved.

Our mistake. We assumed you were a human being who worked for a living, was concerned about high taxes and wasteful spending, and was sick and tired of corrupt and idiotic government.

We forgot you were lgbt, so none of the above applies. You don’t care about anything other than welfare checks and gay-sex marriage.

  23. 13.I don’t love Christie. The process of legalizing same sex marriage in NJ ended with Christie’s election. But you got a smartass right-wing buffoon so party on.

Houndentenor, I agree with much about what you say, but not this one. First of all, it hasn’t ended, since this will come up again, and it will eventually pass. And the legislature had a chance to pass it, even in a lame duck session, where you couldn’t use an upcoming election as an excuse, but we couldn’t muster enough votes in a Democratic majority to get it passed. True, no Republican supported it, but there are plenty of Democrats to blame.

    There, problem solved.

Throbert, if it was that simple, then government would have been completely out of the marriage business years ago, and leave it elsewhere (then watch all the straights start screeching making gays looking like wimps in that department). And then have civil unions for same-sex and opposite-sex couples with the same rights, benefits, and responsibilities. All one has to do is read the IRS tax booklet.

However, your point is taken. We can only play the cards we are dealt with, do what you suggest, and wait until the next hand.

As for Christie, I have mixed feelings. We do need someone tough and frank, and to tackle the tough decisions. He does come as dictatorial at times (although apparently, the NJ Constitution allows for such dictates for the governor). And while cuts are needed, some are driving people out of the state. Granted, it’s a tough balancing act. On the other hand, I do like the way he has dealt with some powerful people and entitites. And the teacher’s union should have tried to take some kind of deal to avoid all the layoffs (but the selfish pigs apparently couldn’t care less that 10,000 of their colleagues were going to get laid off). And I do like the way he took to task the reporter in the you-tube video. Reporters need that every now and then, especially when they act like idiots.
