I must admit, I’m stunned….
CNN.com Cover Story: “My Take: Everyone chalk Mohammed?”
There is a difference between making fun of religious or other ideas on a TV show that you can turn off, and doing it out in a public square where those likely to take offense simply can’t avoid it. These chalk drawings are not a seminar on free speech; they are the atheist equivalent of the campus sidewalk preachers who used to irk me back in college. This is not even “Piss Christ,” Andres Serrano’s controversial 1987 photograph of a crucifix in urine. It is more like filling Dixie cups with yellow water and mini crucifixes and putting them on the ground all over town. Could you do it legally? Of course. Should you?
In Muslim culture, there is a longstanding tradition that to put something on the ground, where people step on it, is “the ultimate diss,” indicating “I hate you, you disgust me,” as I was told by Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America
To this add the fact that after 9/11 hate crimes against Arabs, Muslims and “those perceived to be Muslim” increased 1,700 percent in the United States, according to a report by Human Rights Watch. Large numbers of innocent Muslims in the U.S. have been harmed or intimidated simply because they share a religious tradition with extremists. Can we reasonably suggest they not be reminded of this upon seeing their prophet, the most revered and admired person in their cultural tradition, underfoot?
There is a huge fight on the internet especially facebook about May 20th Draw Muhammad Day. I have thought long and hard about whether to draw Muhammad and I have decided that I will. I do not think people of certian religions should be able to tell other people not of that religion what they can and cannot do. I do not draw Muhammad out of malice but out of protest because I do not think it is acceptable for our artist to recieve death threats over cartoons. I understand that drawing Muhammad is offensive but many things in America are offensive. Republican and Democrats make signs all the time that are offensive too each other this is free speech to be able to say and expression our opinions to people we do not agree with. Drawing Muhammad does not constitute hate. I am doing this neither out of Malice or hate. If there are terrorist acts because of people drawing pictures I hope that America will wake up and see that people are killing over cartoons and that we should not give up freedom for security.
Maybe Nick was right — if CNN wakes up, perhaps today did change history. Time shall tell.

Again with the “Hate crimes sky rocketed after 9/11” nonsense. To date I have not seen a single report proving that claim and yet here it remains.
Living in the SF bay area they are so fast to scream hate crimes and yet I can’t think of even one minor incident in the last 5 years. The exception of course is the tiger that ate a muslim guy who shot at it with a sling shot (while drunk by the way), the guys who ran that “Muslim” bakery that tried to have a reporter murdered and the three muslim guys who drove around SF shooting Gay men with paint balls.
I have had to spend my entire life listening to people p*ss on my faith, my political beliefs, my race and my orientation… And that hasn’t driven me to commit violence, or even considering violence.
So to those who dare… I say DRAW ON!
I bet these two examples are among those 1,700% increase in Hate Crimes…..But they are lies.
We mustn’t forget about taqiyya….the Koran allows Muslims to lie to Infidels.
In a July 2004 case a fire caused $50,000 in damage at a Pakistani-owned grocery store in Everett, Washington. Firefighters found a gasoline can and a derogatory message directed toward Arabs spray-painted on a wall, and a white cross spray-painted on a refrigerator.
Though police cautioned against hastily labeling the incident a hate crime, CAIR issued a press release that “called on local and national leaders to address the issue of growing Islamophobic prejudice following an arson attack on a Muslim-owned business in Washington State.”
The following month, police arrested the store’s owner on a federal arson warrant that accused him of setting fire to the store to collect insurance on the building and its contents.

Similarly, CAIR issued a press release in August 2004 calling on the FBI to investigate “an intentionally-set fire” at a Muslim-owned grocery store in McAllen, Texas. CAIR quoted the store owner, a U.S. resident of Jordanian origin, as saying the fire “followed two separate incidents in which unknown parties painted the phrase ‘Go Home’ on the door of the store.”
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper added, “If whoever set this fire was motivated by anti-Muslim bias, that person needs to be brought to justice before he or she can strike again.”
In September 2004, Amjad Abunar, the owner of the store, was arrested and charged with setting the fire himself. Abunar disappeared shortly before his December 2005 trial date and a bench warrant for his arrest remains in effect.
Greg Epstein, an ordained Humanist rabbi, serves as the Humanist Chaplain at Harvard University.
And a good little dhimmi apparently.
If he bows and scrapes enough, they’ll behead him last.
It gets better. After several paragraphs telling us … repeatedly… what a swell, tolerant and ethical humanist he is, and how appalled he is by the disrespect shown to Muslims, he gets to his solution… which is basically, let’s hold hands and sing “Kum Bah Yah.”
Good luck with that, hippie.
“To this add the fact that after 9/11 hate crimes against Arabs, Muslims and “those perceived to be Muslim” increased 1,700 percent in the United States, according to a report by Human Rights Watch.”
I’m glad to see that others found that “increase of 1,700 percent” reference as dubious as I did. When I see a 4-digit percentage used in such a histrionic fashion, I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to see those hard numbers, thanks.
However, one statistic I am certain of is that since 9/11, press releases and on-air predictions from liberal reporters, leftist politicians, and CAIR that any minute now (like for real–it’s going to happen), Muslims across the nation will be targeted for vicious and inhuman crimes of violence due to their faith has increased by a SHOCKING 17,000,000,000 PERCENT!
“Good luck with that, hippie.” LOL
What the heck is “humanist rabbi” anyway? Why doesn’t he just be a rabbi-period?
‘
I think it’s entirely possible that after 9/11, *complaints by CAIR* increased 1,700%.
As part of Islam’s war on us.
Aargh, Sean A you bean me to it 🙂

Data? Sources? BS.
What about fake nooses and “racist vandalism” on college campi? How about liberals vandalizing their own buildings and blaming it on Republicans? How about liberals claiming they were spat on and called “faggot” and “nigger”?
According to ThatGayConservative, liberal douchebaggery and bullshit calims of “hate crimes” is up (at least) 1,700% since 9/11.
New blogger Matt gives his take on the Everybody Draw Mohammed Day issue, in a post that can only be described as “must-read” and “masterful”:
