Carly Wins!!
At 11:40 EST, 8:40 PST, I am calling this race for Carly Fiorina.
I base this call on the county returns. Carly is winning every county, though not all with over 50%. It seems she’s strong across all regions. Should this patten hold, she will win the Republican nomination with just over 50% of the vote which should give her a good head of steam going into the fall election.
UPDATE: With more returns in, Campbell leads in Santa Cruz County with just shy of 45% of the vote to 41% for Carly. (Campbell also leads in San Francisco, but with less than 50%.)
UP-UPDATE: Via FoxNews, AP now joins me in calling it for Carly. (9:08 PM EST).
UP-UP-UPDATE: Before I hike the Freedom Trail tomorrow, I hope to blog on the meaning of Carly’s victory. Some quick points. As Jim Geraghty reminds us, she’s has some pretty creative media, getting a lot of attention for web videos (at very little cost to the campaign). That blogger quips, “I think it’s safe to say you have no idea what Carly Fiorina and her creative director David Lynch are going to throw at you.”
Carly understands the importance of new media, having reached out to bloggers early in the campaign. I think that had a lot to do with her success.

I just hope she’s one to help us stop THIS whiney, please-don’t-vote-us-out, “I HAVE THE POWER” scam….

You must really be self-hating to cheer the election of a gay-baiting homophobe over a pro-equality politician. With Campbell, you had a fiscally responsible and pro-equality politician, but you chose to stab your brothers and sisters in the back.
Comment by Lloyd — June 9, 2010 @ 11:11 am - June 9, 2010
Lloyd, please provide your evidence that Carly is a gay-baiting homophobe.
And please don’t assume that just because we’re gay, we need be pro-equality. I prefer freedom from state interference to state-sanctioned equality. Try to understand the difference. And try to criticize your adversaries without assuming that because they disagree with you, they’re filled with bile and bitumen.
Please, please show me how I’m stabbing any gay people in the back.
But, at least you do put a smile on my face on this very wonderful day. Unable to argue with us, you insult us and help make a point about many of our critics.
Thanks!

Wrong. With Campbell, we had a welfare enabler who pandered to worthless moochers like yourself who try to coast through life on their minority status.
Why on earth would I be expected to care about promiscuous idiots like you who dress children as sexual slaves and take them to sex fairs, Lloyd? Why on earth would I want to sully my good name for fools like yourself who demand sex from your coworkers and punish those who refuse you or who you don’t find sexually attractive?
That is what our so-called “brothers and sisters” like you are doing. Any politician who would pander to you and those behaviors not only needs to have their head examined, but should be nowhere near where they can affect public policy.
And what’s REALLY funny? You and your fellow gay leftist hatemongers abuse and attack GPW constantly, yet you expect him to support and endorse you. That is the typical disturbed psychological profile of an abuser, and it fits in nicely with your attempts to control and manipulate others into not thinking for themselves.
But then again, what would we expect? You’re dumb enough to fall for the Obama Party’s rhetoric about how you’re inferior and how you need Big Mama Government to force other people to like you.

Better still, why do you continue to endorce a party who’s former VP candidate couldn’t stand to be around you? And who’s current VP finds the president ‘Clean and Articulate’ or one where their former leader thinks the current president should be ‘serving him tea’. Care to explain those Lloyd? unlike your insane rantings, I can back those up.

Lloyd, please provide your evidence that Carly is a gay-baiting homophobe.
She supported ending marriage equality in California.
Please, please show me how I’m stabbing any gay people in the back.
You had the opportunity of picking someone who viewed you as a first-class citizen, and someone who could change the GOP for the better, and instead you endorsed yet another anti-gay politician.
Meanwhile, your gay Republican couldn’t win a primary in Virginia, making it very clear that the GOP is a party of homophobic trogodytes, and that any gay individual who votes for or campaigns for them is either self-loathing or just ignorant.
Comment by Lloyd — June 9, 2010 @ 5:07 pm - June 9, 2010
That is what our so-called “brothers and sisters” like you are doing. Any politician who would pander to you and those behaviors not only needs to have their head examined, but should be nowhere near where they can affect public policy.
Yawn, the same old links. Two idiot fathers and one idiot fire chief-why do you always feel the need to cherry-pick the worst behaviors and generalize them into the entire community?
And supporting marriage equality is hardly “pandering”, especially if you’re running as a Republican-and your opponent is endorsed by the NOM.
And what’s REALLY funny? You and your fellow gay leftist hatemongers abuse and attack GPW constantly, yet you expect him to support and endorse you.
The GOP is the party of Jim Inhofe, who boasts that his family has never had a homosexual relationship and who says that soldiers wouldn’t be willing to fight and die for gay comrades. It is the party of Jim DeMint, who believes that gays should not be public school teachers.
Any gay individual who refuses to condemn these two has some serious problems.
Comment by Lloyd — June 9, 2010 @ 5:20 pm - June 9, 2010
And the Democrats are the party of John Edwards, your point Lloyd? Again, why do you support a party who’s leaders hate you so?

#8: “Lloyd, please provide your evidence that Carly is a gay-baiting homophobe.
She supported ending marriage equality in California.”
Lloyd, if Carly’s opposition to same-sex marriage makes her a gay-baiting homophobe, why did you vote for a gay-baiting homophobe like Obama?
Comment by Sean A — June 9, 2010 @ 5:24 pm - June 9, 2010
Lloyd, ending marriage equality? What does that mean? Does that mean she hates gay people? Please tell me how that’s hateful.
Just because you, clearly not a Republican, believe Campbell could change the GOP for the better doesn’t mean he could do so.
How do you know that Murray won because of anti-gay votes? Please show me your analysis of the electorate to show that this is so. He’s a vet and there are a lot of vets and military folk in the district (for whom his service matters). Plus he had the endorsement of John Bolton, well-loved among conservatives. And that very man addressed the Log Cabin convention in 2008.
You still haven’t shown how I’m self-loathing, but instead have shown how you’re prejudiced against conservatives. You make a lot of assumptions and toss out a lot of insults.
Please check your facts before you run your mouth. Thanks

LOL….Lloyd makes this entirely too easy.
First he whines:
But then he follows up with:
In short, Lloyd is generalizing about Republicans and conservatives at the same time he is claiming and criticizing other people for generalizing.
And the reason those get generalized is because you endorse and support them, Lloyd. Show where those fathers and that fire chief were condemned by the gay and lesbian organizations like NGLTF or HRC. Show where you condemned their behavior. Hm?
Or is it that you are too self-loathing to condemn pedophiles because that would make you less popular in the gay community?
Comment by North Dallas Thirty — June 9, 2010 @ 6:41 pm - June 9, 2010
12.Lloyd, ending marriage equality? What does that mean? Does that mean she hates gay people? Please tell me how that’s hateful.
She supported and voted for Prop 8. She supported keeping gays second-class citizens. She never wondered how she would feel if someone had taken away her right to marry.
Just because you, clearly not a Republican, believe Campbell could change the GOP for the better doesn’t mean he could do so.
If Campbell won the primary and then won the general, the GOP could see that running pro-equality candidates was the way to win, instead of running Neanderthals to rev up the evangelical base.
You still haven’t shown how I’m self-loathing, but instead have shown how you’re prejudiced against conservatives.
Who would vote for someone who says “You can’t marry the person you love?” “If the person you love the most is dying, you can’t visit them.” “You are inferior.”
And the Democrats are the party of John Edwards, your point Lloyd?
Actually, Edwards had a very pro-gay voting record in the Senate. Unlike the two I mentioned, who held up gay appointees of tremendous skill, and who voted for every single piece of antigay legislation they could. Actions speak louder than words, which makes me wonder if Dick Cheney truly loves his daughter.
Comment by Lloyd — June 9, 2010 @ 6:53 pm - June 9, 2010
Show where those fathers and that fire chief were condemned by the gay and lesbian organizations like NGLTF or HRC. Show where you condemned their behavior. Hm?
The incidents were small. I doubt NGLTF and HRC even knew that they occured. And I called them both idiots.
In short, Lloyd is generalizing about Republicans and conservatives
I’m not generalizing about Republicans. Look at the votes:
DADT repeal: Only six Republicans voted to repeal it, and five came from blue states/districts.
FMA: A small number of Republicans voted against it, and did so on states rights grounds.
DOMA: Only one Republican voted against DOMA, and he was outed as gay. Meanwhile, Jim Kolbe voted for DOMA, making him either self-loathing or just desperate to get reelected.
Comment by Lloyd — June 9, 2010 @ 7:01 pm - June 9, 2010
Really, Lloyd?
So you oppose candidates who oppose pedophiles marrying children, or oppose polygamous marriage? After all, they love these people; what gives you justification to pass judgment on the validity of their love?
Spin for us now and say that anyone should be allowed to marry whomever or whatever they say they love, with no restrictions. Or be exposed once again as a hypocrite.
And you ask who would vote for them?
You, HRC, and the rest of your Obama Party.
Republicans recognize, Lloyd, that you are simply a liar who uses his sexual orientation as an excuse for slavish subservience to the Obama Party. They know that you fully support and endorse bans on gay marriage and whatnot when your Obama Party does it.
That is because Republicans judge by character, not minority status. You have demonstrated that you are a hypocrite and a liar who criticizes Republicans for behavior that you endorse and support in your Obama Party. Why should they care what you think? You state your sexual orientation is responsible for your hypocritical behavior. Clearly your sexual orientation makes you inferior.
Comment by North Dallas Thirty — June 9, 2010 @ 7:29 pm - June 9, 2010
Excuses, excuses, excuses.
Guess Lloyd is too self-loathing to condemn pedophilia when carried out by his fellow gays. Guess HRC and NGLTF don’t see anything wrong with sexual harassment in the workplace or sexual abuse of children.
Now tell us again why people who don’t see anything wrong with sexually abusing children should be teachers. Now tell us again why people who don’t see anything wrong with sexually harassing coworkers should have workplace protections based on minority status.
Comment by North Dallas Thirty — June 9, 2010 @ 7:32 pm - June 9, 2010
Oh, Lloyd, Lloyd, Lloyd, if I find a man I want to marry, I’ll marry him whether the state recognizes him or not.
If you read this blog, you would know that I’m not pro-equality, I’m pro-freedom. You don’t offer arguments, you just spit out left-wing cliches about conservatives.
Please read my posts on Carly and see that I support her for her strong stands on fiscal issues, supporting less government regulation and more individual as well as economic freedom. But, you’re not interested in my ideas, you’re just here to confirm your own prejudices.
But, if you actually read our posts and considered our arguments, you might not change your mind, but you would confront your prejudices. So, please try to understand why I don’t define myself as pro-equality and do define myself as pro-freedom. Please consider that distinction.

yeah, she may have won the primary, and she may have reached out to the new media, but she showed she knows nothing about the old media. Pfffzzt. The balloon pops and Fiorina’s toast. Boxer will win in a landslide.

#19: “yeah, she may have won the primary, and she may have reached out to the new media, but she showed she knows nothing about the old media.”
Bullsh*t bnl. Fiorina reached out to the new media precisely because she knows everything there is to know about the old media. The “old media” is nothing but pathetic, partisan hacks who lost what remained of their credibility when they went all in for Obama, buried stories about his dubious past, and went on the attack against anyone who dared to challenge or criticize him. That’s why the old media is dying and publications like Newsweek are bankrupt.
