BREAKING: Three Supreme Court Justices Are Insane

In one of the most ostrich-in-the-sand dissent in American history, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer articulates how liberals live in their own fantasy world.  The case decided today by a 6-3 majority (thank God!) “upheld the constitutionality of a federal law that makes it illegal to teach members of a foreign terrorist group how to use peaceful means to pursue political goals.”  This was part of the USA Patriot Act.

Here is what Justice Breyer said in his from-the-bench-audible dissent (via SCOTUSblog):

Breyer’s opinion argued that the majority’s requirement for “coordination” of speech activity with a terrorist group was not a limitation in any real sense.  “There is no practical way,” he wrote, “to organize classes for a group (say, wishing to learn about human rights law) without ‘coordination.’ “  Moreover, the dissent said, the Court had accepted the government argument that even support for a group’s peaceful aims could help “legitimate” that group, and thus further its violent acts, too.  “Once one accepts this argument, there is no natural stopping place,” Breyer concluded.

Breyer was joined in the dissent by (not surprisingly) Justices Ginsberg and Sotomayor.

Further, Breyer wrote/spoke:

Breyer said that the majority’s broad reading of the statute raises “grave” doubt about its constitutionality.

“… I would read the statute as criminalizing First-Amendment-protected pure speech and association only when the defendant knows or intends that those activities will assist the organization’s unlawful terrorist actions,” Justice Breyer wrote.

Now these three are insane because they trust that a terrorist organization will separate funds, advice and other material goods from their advocacy arm.  WTF?  This on the face of it is sheer madness.  If an organization is deemed a terror group by The State Department — the quickest way to receive humanitarian aid is to STOP and RENOUNCE TERROR ACTIVITIES.  Then the US will take you off the list, and the bleeding heart liberals can give you all the damn advocacy support you want.

So the three dissenters either think coordination is okay for the safety of We, The People… or they think that terror groups will put up firewalls in their Terror, Inc. operations.  Either conclusion is completely devoid from reality.

Luckily, Chief Justice Roberts brings sanity (and the majority vote) with his opinion:

Roberts quoted a congressional finding in support of his broad reading of the statute: “[F]oreign organizations that engage in terrorist activity are so tainted by their criminal conduct that any contribution to such an organization facilitates that conduct.”

DUH.

I am finding it increasingly hard to debate and discuss with Progressive Liberals who live in a world that solely exists in their mind and Starbuck-dotted neighborhoods.

Unicorns are not an effective anti-terror strategy.  What is truly frightening is that three members of SCOTUS, the President and the Congressional leadership all are Unicornists.

Progressive Classiness Rears Its Lovely Head… Again

I just have to laugh hysterically at these hate-driven comments from “The Brad Blog”.

For those of you who don’t know… Brad Friedman is a well-documented Progressive liar.

Obviously his commenters are as childish and silly as he is.

But someone should let GayPatriot know that not only is he a certified, A1, first-class, sopping wet, 5-day foul, dank-as-old-dishwater douche-bag; but also a TOTAL embarassment to the community to boot.

Furthermore, he’s an ungrateful traitor to the very people who made it safe for him to call himself “GayPatriot.” Shame on him, his crapo web-site, and his perpetual celebration of fascism.

Children are funny when they don’t even know the meaning of the words they use.  Like “fascism”, for example.  I wonder if SreeBee also goes by the name Tano from time to time?

Ya just gotta laugh!

Blaming Barton is a heckuva lot easier than defending Obama

So, I return from my cross country trip and amidst the myriad things to do to mark my return, I scan my e-mail to touch base with my friends and Memeorandum to see what’s making news in the internets.  And even though the oil leak in the Gulf has not yet been fixed, Democrats are still casting about blaming Republicans, one Republican in particular, the rest by association since, you know, they all have that pesky little (R) after their names.

Now, I’m not going to weigh in on what Representative Joe Barton (R-TX) said about BP.  On the face of it, it sounds pretty bad, but I haven’t studied the remarks in context and they are not the point of my post.  (That said, at least one person said he was speaking the truth.)

Barton may represent Texas’ Sixth Congressional District in the House of Representatives, but he holds no executive authority.  So, he can blather on all he want and his words won’t cause the oil to leak or to prevent the leak from being fixed or the oil from spreading.  Yet, to deflect attention from the failure of the president to devote his full attention to solving the problem, his party elders are blaming Barton.

According to the Hill, “Democrats are trying to explicitly tie the 114-member Republican Study Committee (RSC) to a top Republican’s apology to BP this week for the government’s actions to compel BP to create the $20 billion fund to pay out claims to victims of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.”  Meanwhile, “White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel promised Sunday that President Barack Obama hopes to make sure that voters don’t forget the gaffe anytime soon.”  Guess he’d rather voters forget his boss’s inept response.

According to Jake Tapper, “Emanuel asserted that Rep. Joe Barton’s apology to BP was a political gift for Democrats – one the President will use in coming weeks to contrast his governing vision with Republicans, with Barton as a foil.”  Yup, to Obama Democrats, it’s all about politics, how to play the issue.  But, the campaign is over.  Obama is president.  A governing vision is one thing, but people can now see what that vision means in practice.  (Seems the Obama teams wants people to look the other way.)  Perhaps, on paper, Obama has a better governing vision than Barton, but that Republican’s not running for president.

And this Democrat should be defending his record, well, now at least, building a record he can defend.  Guess it’s easier attacking one Republican’s gaffe than defending a Democratic president’s record.

Mike Fallon Campaigning at Denver Pride 2010

Here’s something you don’t see every day:

Yes, that’s Mike Fallon, MD*, campaiging today at the Denver Pride Fest. Yes. A straight Republican at the Pride Fest. Word has it DeGette was somewhere around, but I didn’t see her anywhere; and Jared had his own booth (likely, I surmised, he actually owns that section of the actual street). I and a few of my friends walked with Mike and a top campaign worker of his around Civic Center for about two hours and stopped to hand out information and Mike answered questions and spoke to anybody who was around.

I was hopeful about his campaign until I spent this extended time with him one-on-one. Now, I’m electric about it. From our talk (as we dodged dudes in thongs and shouldn’t-be-but-were-topless old out-of-shape gals), here’s some stuff straight (as it were) from the horse’s mouth:
