Obama Has Killed Recovery

July 2, 2010 by GayPatriot

The facts are undeniable. (Source: US Bureau of Labor Statistics)

November 2008 (Bush)
Total Unemployed: 10.3 MILLION
Unemployment Rate: 6.7%

Obama Inaugurated – Jan 20, 2009
Total Unemployed: 11.1 MILLION

$787 Billion “Stimulus Package” – Passed Feb 2009
Total Unemployed: 12.5 MILLION

JULY 1, 2009 – ONE YEAR AGO
Total Unemployed: 14.5 MILLION
Unemployment Rate: 9.4%

November 2009 – “I will not rest until all Americans who want work can find work,” President Obama
Total Unemployed: 15.4 MILLION

January, 2010
Total Unemployed: 14.8 MILLION
Unemployment Rate:  9.7%

Healthcare Reform Signed Into Law – March 2010
Unemployment Rate:  9.7%
Total Unemployed: 15 MILLION

JULY 1, 2010 – TODAY
Total Unemployed: 14.6 MILLION
Unemployment Rate:  9.5%

NO IMPROVEMENT IN 12 MONTHS. In fact, one could legitimately argued that things are WORSE than a year ago since (based on only ONE statistic) 100,000 more Americans were employed in July 2009 and July 2010.

And almost THREE MILLION Americans have become UNEMPLOYED since the $787B Stimulus Bill was signed into law.

Remember this:  “I will not rest until all Americans who want work can find work,“ President Barack Obama – November 6, 2009

My fellow Americans…. remember this:

    Shouldn’t that be, “January, 2010?”

    Sorry to be picayune, Bruce.

Remember Obama promised the so-called “stimulus” would ensure no more than 8% unemployment? Yesterday he said it’s possible we may see 15% unemployment.

    Bush’s fault of course!

Poor whining baby . . . . he has so much on his plate! So unfair to blame him. No other president ever had to face challenges while in office.

Obviously Bush set him up to fail!

If this is SUCCESS, lets pray he doesn’t fail (with ALL pardons asked of Rush).

FYI: there’s still US Census employees working. I attended a training class for a second phase yesterday morning. The instructor said there may even be a third phase.

Yes, we’re still coming to a neighborhood near you. In this phase, we have to go through and verify all the vacant residences and lots. We’ll be asking neighbors (proxies) for verification that the properties were vacant on Census Day (April 1).

A gal at the office told me once that the office will be open until about the first of September. If true for all local offices, that’s when ALL Census employees will be out of work.

Obama’s response is that it is still Bush’s fault. Obama is going to blame Bush for as long as he can.

But this is the laser-like focus on jobs, right? I mean, it’s what he told us he was going to do, BBP (Before BP). . .

How many caddies can 1 man use, anyway. (and is he playing as part of a 4-some? or does Secret Service have to clear the course when he’s out there – and thus put more greenskeepers off the clock, etc. . . ?)

And what would the recovery have been without the stimulus (the one we made smaller to appease the conservadems and Snowe, etc)? Let’s post the data you keep forgetting about:
Raised the level of real (inflation-adjusted) gross domestic product (GDP) by between 1.7 percent and 4.2 percent,
Lowered the unemployment rate by between 0.7 percentage points and 1.5 percentage points,
Increased the number of people employed by between 1.2 million and 2.8 million, and
Increased the number of full-time-equivalent (FTE) jobs by 1.8 million to 4.1 million compared with what those amounts would have been otherwise.

So Obama has positively affected the situation but has not, nor could anyone, fix so quickly the disastrous economy he inherited. The stimulus should have been larger, but we made it smaller for the conservatives. Hence, it didn’t help as much as it could have. Hence, we’ve helped things along but not enough to combat the economic pressures in the economy at large. When you say “Obama has killed recovery” (lol), you’re pretending that the only influence on the economy IS Obama. That’s nonsense. The economy does not hit a restart button when elections are held. The economy the GOP left us with continued to melt down, killing jobs along the way, every day, even after Jan 21, 09. Obama has tried and in some ways succeeded in improving the situation, but he is not the sole architect of the universe, despite what the right thinks the left thinks of him.

Continuing to post facts without context does not make you right. It just makes you FOX.

torrent: I could allow that Obama inherited a mess from Bush except that I can’t name one thing Obama opposed in his very short career that would have helped prevent this mess.

Ballooning and unsustainable gubmint bureaucracy: Bush: yes. Obama: yes.
Expanding entitlements: Bush: yes. Obama: yes.
Continuing imports of cheap labor: Bush: yes. Obama: yes.
Continuing to waste lives and money on pointless wars: Bush: yes. Obama: yes.
Support of home “ownership” among those who can’t afford it: Bush: yes. Obama: yes.

So it’s safe to say that Obama simply inherited the consequences of policies he supported and continues.

And then there is continuing malfeasance in the Gulf (we’ve gone way past incompetence):

Now WITH stimulus, there are 100,000 more Americans unemployed than in July 2009.

Just imagine how bad it would be if PeBO wasn’t “focused like a laser”!!!!!!!!

And what would the recovery have been without the stimulus (the one we made smaller to appease the conservadems and Snowe, etc)?

It would probably have gone just the same or better, and future generations wouldn’t be saddled with massive debt.

Let’s post the data you keep forgetting about:

What a surprise! The liar torrentprime repeats the same talking points that were debunked handily two days ago.

And then the poor desperate talkingpointsprime contradicts himself.

    First he shrieks this:

The economy the GOP left us with continued to melt down, killing jobs along the way, every day, even after Jan 21, 09.

So he blames Bush solely for the economy. Bush completely controlled the economy and could make it good or bad at his whim.

But what did he say before that?

When you say “Obama has killed recovery” (lol), you’re pretending that the only influence on the economy IS Obama. That’s nonsense.

So Bush had total control over the economy, but Obama has no control. Bush could do anything and manipulate the economy; Obama cannot manipulate the economy at all.

F’ing hilarious. And watching torrentprime, it’s easy to see why so many people see gays and lesbians as inferior; in the case of liberal gays like torrentprime, they truly are.

Good for you TP. It is your right to continue to support and defend this administration.

In what world does increasing = “made smaller”???

Let’s post the part of the link you seem to ignore”

Data on actual output and employment during the period since ARRA’s enactment are not as helpful in determining ARRA’s economic effects as might be supposed, because isolating those effects would require knowing what path the economy would have taken in the absence of the law. Because that path cannot be observed, there is no way to be certain about how the economy would have performed if the legislation had not been enacted, and data on its actual performance add only limited information about ARRA’s impact.

One thing’s for damn sure, we’re not better off than we were before Ostalin’s ordination.

Obama stated emphatically that Porkulus NEEDED to be passed because all the good it would bring the United States in supposedly creating jobs & keeping the unemployment at 8%. The real unemployment is 10.5% given the June numbers have been manipulated to include 2.6 million people to keep unemployment at 9%, but we the people know the truth. Porkulus also killed job creation in the private sector since the government ate it up. President Obama is worse than Jimmy Carter &, we still haven’t felt the stagflation from all of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid plundering for the past 18 months…!

Obama has some explaining to do.

Nobody can blame any thing going on now on Bush. The thug Dems controlled congress the last two years of Bush. He for sure didn’t cause the housing fall. It was Clinton and Barney Frank. Trace it back.
