In a post Sunday about the attempt of some left-of-center groups to gin up a grassroots movement with the energy and determination of the Tea Parties, I quoted a Washington Post article which included this line:
They [the groups] promise to “counter the tea party narrative” and help the progressive movement find its voice again after 18 months of floundering.
18 months of foundering? Huh? Now, what happened just shy of 18 months ago? Oh yeah, the dawn of the era of Hope and Change. Guess the change hasn’t been a good one for the self-anointed “progressives.”
Mmmmm, schadenfreude 🙂
I truly believe the reason the lefties are so upset is that the One hasn’t been going fast enough. Kinda reminds of the young kid in the back that keeps kicking the seat and whining ‘are we there yet?’
Few dedicated, dyed-in-the-wool liberals have the stomach for tying their fragile political fortunes to the SS James Earl Obama as it makes it’s headlong, ill-considered dash across an iceberg-strewn North Atlantic.
I ran across the following article last night, and considering the increasingly stubbornness of our friends on the left in the face of overwhelming evidence of their messiah’s failures, I thought it appropriate to link to here.
It is indeed a MUST READ.
Top down astroturf is not a grassroot movement no matter how much propaganda spreads in the MSM. The Democrats still do not understand the Tea Party. Heck, a few Republicans don’t understand it either.
Why does the Left feel a need to create a Leftist Tea Party? The Left has the ever-shrinking, ever-irrelevant MSM in radio, television, & newspapers. The problem is they are talking to themselves in their own echo chamber.
In the meantime, the Tea Party grows while Obama & the Obama Democrats shrink…
The reason the Left is floundering is largely due we the people reject them; as a result, the Left & the Democrats are in disarray because they are governing against us. Another reason the Left is in disarray is the Pelosi-Reid-Obama thing has removed the red masque to reveal Communism seething in their hearts & minds as they seek to turn us into slaves rather than constituents. Crash & burn is in for the Democrat Party this November & possibly 2012…
Loud mouth Chris Matthews the other nite bemoaned the fact that a large percentage of America is hoping Obama will fail and is wallowing in his difficulties. Like that was a sin and a crime after how they have treated Bush 43. I said it before, the terrorists and rebels found solace in the lefts opposition to Bush 43 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are taking longer because of it.
Believe it or not, through all this, Obama is not “progressive enough” for the Progressives.
Progressives. I have some advise for you. Next time vote for the guy who is completely honest and says exactly what he wants to do. That would have been Ralph Nader. Funny thing is, Obama is pursuing many of the same policies that Nader would have if elected.
#4, good article Eric, thanks for posting…..
Obama came to the presidency under almost ideal conditions; a despised predecessor, an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, clear expectations, even despite all the problems that the Republicans had left for him. He’s floundering now because he’s completely wasted that opportunity by abandoning his liberal base and spending all of his time chasing down conservative approval. It really is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen a human being do. A Democrat trying to curry favor with a Republicans is more like a stunt you’d see on Jackass, you might as well dress up in a raw chicken suit and try to walk through a pit of alligators.
He doesn’t even try to pretend like he wants to end the wars, or Bush’s abuses of power that he once railed against. Instead, he seems to be focused on expanding those wars and making Bush’s abuses his own – this is what I’d consider the ultimate betrayal of his liberal constituency. All this does is give future Presidents permission to continue the kind of corrosive criminality that I guess we’re all going to have to get used. He’s also completely blown it with the economic recovery, healthcare reform, and energy issue, but the war/torture/detention/wiretapping stuff is what stings the most.
I can’t wait for his exit interviews – I want to see what this dumbass has to say for himself after completely squandering the best political climate for liberals in a generation.
Government of the 12%, by the 12%, for the 12%
Sorry Levi, delude yourself as much as you want, its not Obama that people are rejecting, its your party and everything your corrupt, anti-American, fascist party stands for.
He remains VASTLY MORE popular than Nancy Pelosi who has not only NOT tried to “chase down conservative approval”, but refuses to even MEET with Republicans. She has rammed through the entire regressive agenda including Cap and Trade, the “public option” and every other liberty-destroying, economy-destroying item on the regressive fascist wish list, and Obama is MORE popular than her and congressional Democrats.
It is your FAILED, Fascist ideology that America is overwhelmingly rejecting, as they overwhelmingly rejected it the last times Democrats controlled everything, under Bill Clinton when they tossed Democrats out of congress, and under Jimmy Carter who suffered the most resounding electoral defeat in American history.
Americans dont want your Fascism, no matter how you try to rebrand it.
ROFL 🙂 Levi, you brighten my day with your night-is-day, Orwellian, head-in-ass misuse of language. You remind me of game that my brother and I played as kids, “I’m from Opposit-sa”, where everything the designated person would say, he had to say as its exact opposite.
Well, we can agree on that much.

Re: #14
Any resemblance to Levi, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
Le Sigh…. I tried to get through it, but the strikeouts combined with the idiocy proved too much. I can handle one or the other but both at once? Just too much. Want to try again like an adult?
Welcome to the last 18 months of my life under Chairman Zero.
You and me both, pal. Except that I don’t hysterically cry myself to sleep every night about him being a socialist and a communist based on nothing… so never mind I guess!
levi still doesn’t get it. He’s mad because Obama isn’t delivering. Obama was a community organizer. A rabble rouser. He’s never been the executive in any way. He was a liberal teacher spouting ideas. Not implementing any of them. Just words. It isn’t any surprise to thinking people that he’d be totally incompetent in getting anything done. Liberal or conservative. It’s the reason a 20 year old isn’t the CEO of GE. Or a grad student isn’t the head of NASA. Experience and training count for something. And Obama had none.
BTW did I hear the Administration and the media are going on ANOTHER VACATION? Golly. Glad everything is going so well…..
You haven’t the slightest idea of how I spend my evenings, so I’ll thank you to keep your personal observations of my life to yourself.
However, given the inevitable self-righteousness with which Chairman Zero and his followers typically conduct themselves, I’m hardly surprised by Levi’s pretentiousness.
These self-absorbed bullsh*t artists have made entire careers by manipulating people they could care less about, but every now and then, they find themselves completely out of options. In this case, that options name is November.
Move on, Levi. You’re done here.
Whatever. I’m not of the opinion that Obama is a failure because he has no executive experience and I’m not of the opinion that people with no executive experience are necessarily terrible Presidents. Obama is in the position he is in because he has misplayed every political issue that’s been put in front of him, and I don’t really understand how there could be a direct correlation between this political miscalculations and executive inexperience. He’s naive, uncritical, easily steamrolled, and out-of-touch, and he ends up making decisions that aren’t good policy or that benefit him politically. Just being an executive in some form or another doesn’t automatically erase these qualities, these are personal defects in his character and work ethic that are manifested in many other executives’ as well (especially lately.)
I know that this talking point was all the rage back in the campaign but it’s as boring now as it ever was.
There ya go, Levi. FIFY
He’s floundering now because he’s completely wasted that opportunity by abandoning his liberal base and spending all of his time chasing down conservative approval.
No, he’s floundering because he did everything his idiot leftist base wanted and had it blow up in his face.
That’s the funny part, Levi. Before you were crowing about how Obama’s “centrism” was all a lie for the voters and how it was “necessary” so that progressives like you could get into power.
Now that Obama has pushed hard left and watched his popularity fall south, you have to change the narrative, because your lies about Americans supporting your leftist causes are being exposed as such. So instead of admitting that your leftist anti-business, anti-capitalism, pro-terrorist tendencies are NOT popular, you blame Obama for screwing up their implementation.
I’ll concur with Levi’s last statement. The reason Obama is flailing is because, though he talks a good game, he doesn’t have the courage of any convictions to brace him when challenged. In his political career, especially while a state senator, he was afraid to put his name to anything that might come back to haunt him, thus the curious knack to vote “present”. He knew he wanted to climb the political ladder, and often the best way to do that is to have nothing in your voting history that could come back to bite you. Thus, while the term “empty suit” is often thrown around willy nilly, Obama may very well be the epitome of that phrase.
His core belief was to get elected.
sf, He’s been elected. What would you think he is still running for; God?
No, he has convictions. Everyone does, on some level. The problem is that his convictions are all false:
1) America is always wrong.
2) He is always right. It’s all about Him.
3) Socialism can work.
4) Rhetoric is a deed. Good rhetoric is a good deed.
5) Slinging rhetoric about meaninglessly, like our friend Levi (aka lying) has always worked for him before, and surely will continue to. Time to play golf.
Problem is, Levi, your regressive buddies are going to have their asses handed to them because they chose to snub the people and do whatever the hell they wanted. The contempt liberals have for the American people, including you, is on full display.
Face it, you elected a guy who’s an MTV Cribs wannabe, not a leader.
Know what else, Levi? Every day Chairman Obama, Reid & Pelosi prove that Rush is Right.
Levi’s just disappointed that the president isn’t one of those enlightened uncorruptable tyrants he’s always dreamed of when he saw the unicorns, time machines and other imaginary creatures.
Levi, I apologize. I had no idea your ability to multitask was so limited. Here is your hissy fit rewritten from my view:
Obama came to the presidency under almost ideal conditions; a milquetoast Republican candidate, an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, a pro at demagogue hypnosis, even despite all the problems that the he assiduously avoided addressing . He doesn’t even try to pretend like he wants to return the economy to solid footing or keeping America exceptional, but he has constantly railed against the United States. Instead, he seems to be focused on expanding the welfare society and the destruction of the free market system– this is what I’d consider the ultimate betrayal of his “hope and change” feel-good psychobabble campaign. Unless the Constitutional balance of powers is reestablished, Obama’s methods will give future Presidents permission to continue the kind of corrosive criminality that I guess we’re all going to have to get used to. He’s also completely blown it with the war on terrorism, military courts, interrogation and a robust monitoring of incoming communications from abroad, but the sick economy, joblessness, anti-business, attack on established energy sources, propaganda, radical socialism, cover-up stuff is what stings the most.
I can’t wait for his exit interviews – I want to see what this dumbass has to say for himself after completely squandering the best political climate for liberals in a generation. Clearly you dislike the man because he has not done enough in savaging the country, the economy and your designated source of all evil.
Another thing I noticed about our young inexperienced President.
I do believe he is anti semitic. When he met with Bebe Netanyahou he didn’t bow to the Jew the way he bows to all the Arab and Muslim leaders. Wonder why? Even the optics of it were obviously different.
He’s a Jew hater.
Your willful ignorance and wacky views only fuels liberals. Don’t believe me? Sharon Angle, once ahead of Reid by 14 points in the polls, now trails by 5. 19 point swing after people got to “know” her a little better. Thanks idiots.
