A Most Frightening Thought…

August 1, 2010 by Bruce Carroll

I saw this news item yesterday…

Colombia denies plans to attack Venezuela – BBC.com

Venezuela has sent extra troops to its border with Colombia “in case of attack”.  Colombia has emphatically denied it plans to attack Venezuela. The denial follows accusations by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez that his Colombian counterpart, Alvaro Uribe, is “capable of anything”.  A spokesman for the Colombian government called President Chavez’s remarks “deceptive” and said Bogota had never even considered an attack.

On Friday, President Chavez said he had sent extra forces to the border to boost Venezuela’s defences.  In a phone call to Venezuelan state television, he said the deployment included soldiers, air units and special forces.

Colombian government spokesman Cesar Velasquez said claims that Bogota was planning to attack its “brother nation” were an attempt by President Chavez to deceive his people.

And everything going on in the world at this moment gelled in a scary thought:  What if, in a coordinated manner, Venezuela attacks Colombia, Iran attacks Israel, and North Korea attacks South Korea.  There have been very scary ties between all three of those potential aggressor nations.

If that three-pronged attack happened, how would Obama respond?  Not to mention the rest of the world.

I hope this is just a scary passing thought by a crazy blogger and nothing more.  I also hope war-gamers at the Pentagon have had the same thoughts.

Well, apparently Paraguay has been muscled aside as the starting point for WWIII. As to North Korea, just close in behind the invading wave and wait 12 hours for them to run out of gas and food. Then hand the invading soldiers a choice of switching sides or going on a full North Korean peasant diet of grass and bark.

I doubt it. It’s just bad behavior by three countries that know nothing else. All three are under pressure, and all three are acting out. All three should also realize that they could be blown to Kingdom Come, so I don’t expect anything of the sort right now. Although it’s possible that any one of the aforementioned countries could attack their perceived enemy, I doubt that a coordinated attack from all three is in the works. Have a good day.

Bruce—“I hope this is just a scary passing thought by a crazy blogger and nothing more. I also hope war-gamers at the Pentagon have had the same thoughts.”

The naval forces of the United States are already stationed in strength off the Iranian coast. The aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman has joined USS Dwight Eisenhower near the strategic Straits of Hormuz, not far from Iran’s territorial waters, along with Israeli ships. (check)

The aircraft carrier USS Washington is still hanging around with its fleet near South Korea, plus our many ships in Japan are just a stone throw away. (check)

The USS Navy is now curcumnavigating South America, conducting joint operations with that hemisphere’s navies that are allied with the U.S. in maintaining “freedom of the seas.” (check)

And don’t forget where there is one US aircraft carrier, there is a complete armada surrounding the “mother ship.” This includes many aegis class destroyers, frigates, refueling ships, etc.

Although I have complete faith in our military, I do not have any faith in Obama’s leadership. So, God help America if the three stooges (Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Jong il) foolishly try anything. But alas, one of the fools will eventually.

I’m curious as to what exactly a Venezuelan “air unit” is. I’m guessing it’s rifle monkeys jumping out of trees and shooting before they crash into the ground.

Of course Uribe has been claiming that Venezuela is harboring FARC and that those terrorists are moving freely across the border. You know, like Los Zetas move freely across the US-Mexico border.

Oh, enough with your silly 24 fantasies. Those three countries are weak and have done nothing but stand up against American imperialism-which is why you hate them.

The greatest problem with naked American Imperialism is that there isn’t enough of it. And as the World’s Policemen, we should be deducting a portion of our UN dues-assessment as an offset against some of our extraordinary expenses….instead of groveling and apologizing for it.

“No better friend, no more implacable adversary”….The skulls of our past enemies should be used as silver-lined candy dishes at the head table for White House state dinners.

The greatest mistake of 1991 was not demanding Saddam’s head, literally.

It couldn’t be because Venezuela’s being run by a fascist thug who’s turning the country into a world class shit hole. And that jackass Carter’s partly to blame.

And how, exactly, does that little SOB Chavez “stand up against American imperialism” when he’s so intimate with Chairman Obama???

I’m not terribly worries about North Korea attacking anyone. Keep in mind, they still don’t have a working nuke, and even if they did, about the best they could do is deliver it on the back of a donkey. Their troops are disease ridden, wearing shoes that are older than they are, and they max out at about 4 feet tall. Also, if they were to go to war with the South, their troops would be out of food in about 3 days.

I think (knock on wood) that the only danger North Korea poses is in selling nuclear technology to people who could actually do something with it.

China invading Taiwan is another story altogether.

    Good Lord, GP!

But, I wouldn’t put it past that Pineapple head, Chavez.
I remember reading in a Venezuelan newspaper, about a year ago, that “certain passengers” from incoming flights from the ME, are “whisked” through customs.

The magnanimous Chavez allows members of Hizballah, Hamas, et. al., access to the tri-state, no man’s land area of Columbia, Venezuela and Brazil. Apparently, terrorist and other types of mayhem training goes on in that area.

First point: Every true socialist knows the proper term is “American Yankee imperialism.” Get it right.

Second point: The three aggressor countries mentioned would get their clocks cleaned in short order if they tried this. Not even a contest.

Two caveats: 1) Seoul is withing range of several thousand artillery tubes. The Norks would still lose, but cause untold casualties. Look for Hiroshima II: Revenge of the South at your local movie-plex. 2) The Iranian mullahs might lead with a nuclear strike on Israel, but I doubt they have many warheads yet`. Look for Hiroshima III, The Reckoning at your local movie-plex.

Or perhaps I should have called those movies Tokyo Firestorm. These days you don’t need nukes to trash a city.
