. . . that would be news.
And editorialists at all the major dailies as well as reporters on all three broadcast networks would go into high dudgeon about Republican intolerance. CNN would run special reports, highlighting Christians who regularly voted Democatic and lamenting how their feelings had been hurt by the Republican Leader’s statement.
As you may know by know, Sen. Maj. Ldr. Harry Reid (D-Mt. Crumpit) was caught saying something similar, “telling an audience of mostly Hispanic voters: ‘I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?’”
As Michelle puts it, this “attack on Hispanic conservatives for straying off the liberal reservation” shows the “Left’s contempt for minority conservatives”.
Just don’t expect CNN to do any special reports exploring this contempt. I mean, a search for “Sharron Angle extreme” on Google news got more than twice as many hits as “Reid Republican ‘hispanic heritage'”.
Guess the MSM would rather whack Republicans for their whacky statements.
Ironically(?), the likely next Governor of Nevada is Hispanic — Brian Sandoval. Adding to the irony, the person Sandoval will likely beat is Harry Reid’s son, Rory.
Um, you think the MSM might report that, Dave?
Well, as long as it makes the Nevada news, it’s okay
I don’t know how anyone with a brain can be a Democrat, okay. Do I need to say more?
. . . that would be news.
It would be a valid question.
Frankly, I’d like to see Harry jet down to Star Island and explain that to Gloria and Emilio.
The real ironic part about this is that Reid’s son is running for governor of Nevada and getting his ass kicked by a Hispanic Republican.
Rory Reid has also changed his name to Rory 2010 because he does not want to be connected to his father, Senator Harry Reid, although Rory Reid is a spitting image of his corrupt dad. Rory also got to where he is due to his father’s place in the US Senate. I like the irony Rory 2010 is just as desperate & clueless as his doting, doodling, dear old dad. Rory 2010, unfortunately, shares his father’s arrogance.
Senator Reid’s statements are just more arrogance with their need to group minorities in a collective instead of seeing them as individuals. I believe Harry Reid is losing his mind given his desperation. Despite the MSM backing Senator Reid, the statement still backfired thanks to Fox News.
I wonder if Harry Reid ever spoke about this to former Senator Mel Martinez. On the face of it his statement is not as whacky as it sounds but certainly arrogant. He is exploiting the majority of Republicans opposition to blanket amnesty for the illegals. If he can ram this through the Senate he believes he will add significantly to the Democrats voting base. When President Reagan signed the amnesty bill of 1986, I believed that hispanics would show their appreciation by registering Republican. They didn´t. During my service on the County Central Committee I´ve heard ad nausium, ¨once they learn that we are the party of family values they´ll come to us.¨
So far that hasn´t happened. Family values isn´t going to attract them. It will be economics. The hispanic community is not monolithic. The majority are mexicans who have lived under the socialist regime of the PRI (Partido Revoloucionario Institucional) and while Vicente Fox was the first from the right PAN he kept such socialist measures in place, like the tortilla subsidy, socialized medicine, and failed to privatize the petroleum monoply, PEMEX. Just as the Democrats have kept the loyalty of blacks via handouts, that is how they will gain the loyalty of the mexican immigrants. Central americans are mixed because a number left their countries over civil strife and depending on where they stood on the political spectrum will determine they political preference in the U.S. If they supported democracy from a conservative point of view they will and those who are citizens became Republicans those who supported the communists will support the Democrats. As whaky as that sounds, I would not be afraid to bet that the only salvadoreña to be elected to Congress from Maryland was a guerrillera. or her family supported the FMLN.
In reply to comment#8:
This is the reason why we need to stay Republican voters and continue to embrace traditional conservative and libertarian values across this country.
I find it disheartening that the Democrat Party has some Radical Islamists and Communists in its ranks. But what do you expect? The Democrat Party has become very, very Left-Wing — It used to be the party of the Klu Klux Klan; now its the party of Islamists, Communists, Socialists, the Black Panthers and other hate groups.
My State of California needs to embrace conservative and libertarian values — then Gay Americans in California would actually benefit from such values and improve their lives.
Well, that is one good thing about Harry Reid. Just when you think his strategy of constantly attacking Angle is having some impact on Nevada voters, he has to go and stick his foot in his mouth again by saying something completely idiotic. Keep it up, Harry! Keep it up, and remind the rest of the voters here in Nevada why we don’t want you in the Senate.
